I prefer [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] with his siblings’ names, but [name_m]Louis[/name_m] would be a great choice as well. Maybe your husband would like other [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- names more ([name_m]Edgar[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], [name_m]Edmond[/name_m], [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edison[/name_m]) or he’d fall in love with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] after finding the right nickname ([name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], Ted, [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], [name_m]Ned[/name_m], [name_m]Neddy[/name_m]). In the end I think you should use the name you both love!

Thank you @emmievis  I’m still working on the husband to try and steer him in [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]'s direction. It’s definitely my favourite [name_m]Ed[/name_m] name by far. And as I’m not really keen on [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] as a nickname it would be Ted/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or [name_m]Ned[/name_m] that we’d use at home. It’s a great idea to ask him how he feels about the other [name_m]Ed[/name_m] names. I like the quirky charm of [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] out of the ones you’ve mentioned

If Ted/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is your preferred nickname, is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] a possibility? It’s not as quirky as [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] or your daughter’s name, but your son’s name is a quirky vintage that’s become an international favourite–much like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]!

I voted for [name_m]Louis[/name_m] because I like that name a bit more, but I think both sound great with your other two.

I prefer [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], but I feel like both names could work together (either as [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] or [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]) if your husband likes [name_m]Louis[/name_m] more.

I don’t necessarily think of either when I hear 0l1ver and Cl3m3nt1n3, but certainly think both names works well.

[name_m]How[/name_m] were you thinking to pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m]? I like the name with ee ending rather than as [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].

Thank you for all of your responses

We would pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] the [name_m]French[/name_m] way with the ‘we’ ending.

Please keep your thoughts and votes coming!

I don’t know your preferred pronunciation of [name_m]Louis[/name_m], but I love the [name_m]Louie[/name_m] pronunciation especially with [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].

I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]! I think its handsome like 0l1ver and unexpected (maybe even a like quirky?) like Cl3m3nt1ne, and super sweet like the both of them!! I also really like that its strong, but also very soft.
I think I slightly prefer [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nickname, but [name_m]Ned[/name_m] is great too!

(I do like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] with the “we” ending, its actually the only pronunciation of [name_m]Louis[/name_m] I like. I just like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] more!)

I love both names and think both are great matches with the siblings - so really tough one here and I don’t think you can go wrong - voted for [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as it’s so cool, but could vote for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] tomorrow (love Ted).

Both are really nice, but I think I like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] better with your older two! I like either pronunciation of [name_m]Louis[/name_m] (or even [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]!), and I think any of those options would be great, but I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is perfect with O and C! :stuck_out_tongue:

I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] flows better with the rest of your sibset, as it’s classic but still somewhat modern.

And, by the way, I don’t think it really is necessary to encrypt your children’s names, as it’s only their first names and both of them are pretty popular, especially your son’s name, but you do you.

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] feels like a bridge between the two names-- both of your names are vintage/quirky and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] feels classic enough but also quirky enough

Thank you for all of your comments, Berries  I am so enjoying reading your thoughts.

The poll is currently super, super close. Almost dead even!

I suppose this is a good thing and a bad thing. On the one hand we can’t go wrong with either choice, but on the other hand it’s going to be a really hard decision.

Please keep your thoughts coming xxx

I voted for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] because its one of my favorite names (probably the name of our upcoming baby), but [name_m]Louis[/name_m] might go with the siblings just a bit better. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] are all strong names, but also soft. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], with its hard consonants, doesn’t really share much of the “soft” sound (it does have a gentle feel but more because of its chivalrous associations and not its sound). Both names work perfectly well in the set and I’m personally rooting for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], but if the #1 qualification is sibset, I’d probably go with [name_m]Louis[/name_m].

I voted for [name_m]Louis[/name_m] because, like @dizzy, I liked how it matched the soft yet strong feel of both O and C. [name_f]Imo[/name_f] it goes really well with the subset, especially with the loo-ee pronunciation, and picks up the [name_m]French[/name_m]-y feel. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] goes well but I don’t like it as much (not that that matters for you ”) and I don’t feel it flows with the sibset quite as well - it’s like I have to mentally reset for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] while I don’t have to for [name_m]Louis[/name_m]? But that’s a very minor point.

Thank you all

My goodness. My heart has been so set on [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] that it seems I’ve totally ignored its hard syllables and clunky sounds. Maybe it is too strong sounding in comparison to our other two?

If anyone else can think of some other positives for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] I’d really appreciate that right now as I’m starting to become doubtful about the potential sibset. Also, while I do love [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and believe it would be a safer choice, I think I need some more positive [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] vibes to help eliminate the seed of doubt that my husband is planting in my mind.

For what it’s worth, I adore [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] in part because of its clunky sounds and heavy consonants. Most stylish names now - whether traditional or modern - have an easy flexibility to them, and it’s been that way for decades. By contrast, [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is more definite, less fluid. That’s pretty refreshing actually. It stands apart from the [name_u]Luca[/name_u]/[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]/[name_m]Elijah[/name_m]/[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] model. It’s a saintly, kingly, gentlemanly, and yes, a bit heavy a name. I love it.

Thank you @dizzy  What you’ve just said here makes perfect sense to me. In fact, I think that we are on the same page with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. I can excuse its clunkiness because I find it endearing and ‘refreshing’ like you’ve mentioned. And the more I think about it, I also think that our daughter’s name is rather clunky too. I also love that [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] comes with so much history and some impressive namesakes.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that with its clunkiness it falls under the same kind of category as [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]? I read today’s blog earlier and it’s totally reignited my love of the name [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]!
