1 month jitters!

I can’t believe my little boy will be here in a month! We have been keeping our name a secret from family members, and now I am starting to second guess and worry about our choice! The whole pregnancy we’ve been between [name]Atticus[/name] and [name]Augustus[/name]. [name]Atticus[/name] was the first name we came up with, and then somehow we started liking [name]Augustus[/name] more and more. The last few months we have said to ourselves that he is [name]Augustus[/name], called “[name]Gus[/name]” at times. So we would have the 2 boys, [name]Felix[/name] & [name]Augustus[/name]… or [name]Felix[/name] & [name]Gus[/name].

What do you guys think? Is it a good fit? Is [name]Gus[/name] the best nickname?? Opinions would me much appreciated! Thanks!

I favor [name]Atticus[/name]! But [name]Augustus[/name] is nice, although I don’t like the name [name]Gus[/name]. I would call him [name]August[/name] or Auggie.

With [name]Felix[/name], I prefer [name]Atticus[/name] as neither has a natural nn. [name]Augustus[/name] is nice though. With [name]Feliz[/name], I prefer the nn Auggie to the nn [name]Gus[/name].

I prefer the majestic [name]Augustus[/name] nn [name]Gus[/name]. [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Augustus[/name] sound like a “natural” brother duo. [name]Atticus[/name] is so trendy right now that its ancient origins is being forgotten due to its strong literary appeal (although some parents who haven’t even read “To Kill a Mockingbird” choose [name]Atticus[/name] because it seems like the cool thing to do). I think you’re playing it smart by not disclosing your name choices to your family. Fill out the birth certificate first before divulging your “secret”. That way, your family and friends would have no choice but to accept your final decision rather than try to change your mind so you’re second guessing yourself.

I love both! [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Augustus[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] are on my list.

It’s just so hard! I kinda of feel like I am throwing up my hands and figuring we’ll just get used to whatever we pick. :-/

I love [name]Augustus[/name]. You could call him Aust (Ahst) or Auggie, if you don’t like [name]Gus[/name] (I think [name]Gus[/name] is cute.)

Thanks chrisco! Some days I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Gus[/name], and other days I think of the mouse from [name]Cinderella[/name]…

I dont want to come off as rude, but [name]Gus[/name] is truly just not my style. I prefer [name]Atticus[/name], but [name]Augustus[/name] is a nice name as well. Maybe [name]August[/name] as a nickname? I will say, [name]Gus[/name] sounds nice with [name]Felix[/name]! Go with your gut. Congrats

I really like [name]Augustus[/name] & [name]Felix[/name] (I also like nn [name]Gus[/name] & [name]Felix[/name]) and I think it is a great choice! [name]Atticus[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] feels a bit too trendy to me, but [name]Augustus[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] is a very handsome combo of brother’s names and it feels much more substantial. Good luck! =]

[name]Augustus[/name] & [name]Felix[/name] are a great pair.
I love [name]Augustus[/name] and all it’s associated nicknames, especially [name]Gus[/name]!
[name]Atticus[/name] is also cool… Maybe too cool?

Thanks you guys! It helps so much to hear some feedback  I think we probably will bring both names with us, but I think my husband has his mind set on [name]Augustus[/name] at this point. I just need to either get 100% on board, or work on getting him onto something else. Right now I am back on [name]Augustus[/name]/[name]Gus[/name]

Thank you!!

I love [name]Gus[/name]! I think it is perfect with [name]Felix[/name]. I am not opposed to [name]Atticus[/name], but it is not really my style.

I like [name]Augustus[/name] nn [name]Gus[/name]. That would be my choice. [name]Atticus[/name] is great too!

Good [name]Luck[/name]!

I love the nn [name]Gus[/name], sad other people are saying they don’t. I think it’s cute. I prefer [name]August[/name] to [name]Augustus[/name], but I think I just prefer simpler, down-to-earth names. I would not go with [name]Atticus[/name] personally. It’s super trendy. I asked my husband why he thought it might be so popular, since I really don’t think that many people are fondly remembering To Kill a Hummingbird from high school English class whilst naming their children. Apparently there is a rock band and a clothing label by the same name.

thatkathryngirl~ Thanks for the insight on the name [name]Atticus[/name]! I had no idea it was a rock band or a clothing line. That makes me feel more confident in choosing [name]Augustus[/name] over [name]Atticus[/name]. Everyone kept saying [name]Atticus[/name] is trendy, but [name]Augustus[/name] actually rose more places on the SS list this last year. However, overall it is still less popular.

Now I am hoping that the book The Fault in Our Stars won’t make the name [name]Augustus[/name] sky rocket. [name]Love[/name] that book and love [name]Augustus[/name] Waters!
