[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] number one is on his/her way and is coming very soon! We have 10 (ish) girl names and would love some help narrowing it down! Which is your favorite? [name_m]Both[/name_m] of our mothers are named [name_f]Lori[/name_f] so that will be the middle name Popularity doesn’t matter to us too!
We also like [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] as a nickname but we don’t like [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Henriette[/name_f]/[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], or [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. Are there any other choices (full names for Hattie) that fit our style?
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite with mn [name_f]Lori[/name_f] would be [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] work as well. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] are all 2-2 syllable count which isn’t ideal. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] is rhyme-y. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] the L’s mix together.
[name_f]My[/name_f] opinion on the names (if matching isn’t as important to you)
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] - love!
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] - I hope she would have a nickname
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - I like this, and predict it will get even more popular
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] - way too common
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - I’m not loving it
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is so pretty!
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - don’t love
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]!
[name_f]Zara[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Zaria[/name_f] or Zaaria (Zar-ee-uh)
We aren’t really looking for new suggestions; by other choices that fit our style, I was talking about other full names for [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
I actually had a few of your suggestions on my longer list (which my husband vetoed) and especially loved [name_f]Lily[/name_f] but “[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f]” sounded silly to us
Why would you say you would “hope she had a nickname” if we went with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]? Is it bad if we would just want to use the full name?
That is a lovely list. There are three on it which are tied for first place for me they are:
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
If open to other suggestions
Going on the M Celtic vein like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]: [name_f]Morven[/name_f]
Going on the nature theme like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]: [name_u]Sorrel[/name_u]
Going on the famous suffergette line like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (you should look up [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] Pankhurst as she was awesome): [name_f]Christabel[/name_f]
We’re really only looking for a full name for [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]. We don’t want to be adding more names to our list since we are trying to narrow it down as my due date approaches
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is my favourite girls name at the moment, so I think that it is beautiful without a nickname
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]-[name_u]Love[/name_u]!
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]-Too common, but if you don’t mind popularity, fine.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]-I reckon this is going to get very popular
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]-I think the two 'L’s drift into each other making it sound like Hazelori.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]-Not too sure on this with [name_f]Lori[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-Not for me!
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]-[name_u]Love[/name_u]!
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]-Not my style
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]-It’s…okay.
To get the NN [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], have you thought about (although I don’t think any of these are really your style):
I like the name [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] with [name_f]Lori[/name_f], all the other names don’t really flow well with [name_f]Lori[/name_f]. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] has such cute nn options, ex [name_f]Addie[/name_f] or Lady. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
I like [name_f]Behati[/name_f], but not sure my husband would go for it! We don’t like nicknames for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] which is why we just want to use the full name
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] ([name_f]Hattie[/name_f] can stand alone). I would love to add [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] to the list.
Very nice taste. I like almost all of these! If middle name is going to be Lori, I’d suggest a version of this name because Lori is a very old-fashioned trendy type name. How about Laurel or Lorelei? I’ll try to think of some others. I just think they’d honour your mother and MIL whilst complementing your daughter’s name (which I don’t think Lori does quite as well). But that’s just my two cents!
If you’re set on an L middle name, I’d lose any names containing an L because they turn into a bit of a tongue twister. So, out go Adelaide, Emmeline, Hazel, Isla and Violet. This leaves you with Ava, Ivy, Maeve and Zara. I think Maeve is a standout here because Ava, Ivy and Zara are all very popular (or headed that way). Maeve Laurel or Maeve Lorelei would be outstanding. Plus, if you choose to just go with straight-up Lori, Maeve Lori sounds better than a lot of your other choices.
I think all of your choices are so beautiful, but I like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] or [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] best together. [name_f]Lori[/name_f] is an adorable mn and the fact that both of your Mom’s names are [name_f]Lori[/name_f] is such a beautiful omen! Good luck to you!
I know an [name_f]Esther[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]…
I love [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] on it’s own and would use it myself personally-it is by far my favourite on your list.
my second favourite would be [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. But to it still does not compare to the spunky [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]!
I know you are not after more names…BUT [name_f]Irya[/name_f] is similar to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but to me it is fresher (and to me nicer) . I wondered if you had considered it?
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] lori sounds more complete to my ears than the other options imo. [name_f]Lori[/name_f] is soo short and seems like a nn paired with a nn if you were to choose any of the other shorter options.
I agree with almost everything said above! Although, I’m not a fan of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] at all. I really like [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] the best if you decide to just use [name_f]Lori[/name_f] as the middle.
I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] sounds very nice, and I wouldn’t make a nn for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. I like it very much as is. The emphasis on nn’s makes me crazy sometimes.
My favourites from your list are [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
[name_f]IMO[/name_f] the only one that really fits with mn [name_f]Lori[/name_f] is [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. All of the others are two two syllable names which I think is a bit much and sounds a bit choppy and awkward.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Lori[/name_f] is cute.
Have you considered the longer [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] as a mn to honour both mothers instead? This would lend itself to more name options as I think any of the above would sound gorgeous with mn [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]!
