12 days to go...help with final list!

I am having a repeat c-section in 12 days and my husband and I still have not agreed on a name…this is our third child (second boy). Our last name starts with Gott- and is very [name_m]German[/name_m] sounding.

My older 2 kids are [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]

The problem is DH is very non-committal to every name and/or has SOME association with every name we come across…so here is the final list that he “doesn’t hate” and that I find acceptable:

[name_u]Everett[/name_u] (mn [name_m]John[/name_m]/[name_u]James[/name_u]/[name_m]Gregory[/name_m])
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (mn [name_m]John[/name_m]/[name_u]James[/name_u]/[name_m]Gregory[/name_m]) - could [name_m]Leo[/name_m] be a nickname for this? Or too weird?
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]

Last week, he was very set on [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], but a friend of ours feminized the spelling and used it for her daughter. My concern is that although I believe the name is masculine, it may be “going to the girls”. Now he is meh about it. He said he doesn’t like [name_m]Grant[/name_m] too much, but that was my top pick for a long while.

Can anyone help us? [name_m]Will[/name_m] take any other suggestions too. Thank you!!

Why don’t put [name_m]Grant[/name_m] as the middle name? It could be [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_m]Grant[/name_m], but as you are concerned that [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is becoming a girls’ name, than I’d swap the 4th choice: [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]. It sounds as good as [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m].

I like [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]. If your husband isn’t so into [name_m]Grant[/name_m], it could be moved to the middle spot. But I’d rather see [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] than [name_m]Edward[/name_m] as a fn. Still, [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] flows well.

You could always remind your husband of great bearers of the names you like - [name_u]Eliott[/name_u] Ness was anything but girly, and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] (scandals aside) was a President as well as a victorious general!

With your harsh “Gott” surname, I wouldn’t have a name with a pronounced “t” in it ([name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]). [name_m]Grant[/name_m] suffers from the “t” as well as alliteration. So from your list, I think [name_m]Callum[/name_m] is the best choice. Have you considered [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]?

No, I think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] would work, and my vote goes to [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. Good luck!

I like the way [name_u]Everett[/name_u] sounds w/ your other two. I really like [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]!

I like [name_m]Grant[/name_m] best on your list but [name_m]Grant[/name_m] Gott-- is not ideal. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is a great name and not at all girly to me, but I understand your concern. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_m]Colin[/name_m]
[name_m]Ross[/name_m]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]

From your original list, I think I’d go with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. Good luck!

As [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] said, I would rule out [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] because of the double “t” sound. This leaves [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m], which I believe is a fine name! Alternatively, you could swap one of the middle names around. [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]/[name_m]Callum[/name_m] or [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]/[name_u]Everett[/name_u] all sound good too

I have a [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and he is constantly receiving compliments on his strong, handsome name:)

Great choices! I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]; [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and [name_m]Grant[/name_m]; and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] all sound excellent together. [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is a bit heavier/harder sounding than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u], so of the two, I’d pick [name_u]Elliot[/name_u].

As far as your last name goes, I think [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] works because the t at the end is not that pronounced. It’s more just a touch of the tongue to the roof of the mouth. The t in [name_m]Grant[/name_m] is more pronounced, the way I say it.

So my order of pref is 1. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]/[name_u]James[/name_u] 2. [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] 3. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] 4. [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]/[name_u]James[/name_u].
([name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] does not sound great to me, tho [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] works)
