Year 1: Child
I found out about this pregnancy in an unusual way. I was away on vacation visiting my childhood best friend, when she found out that I had never before taken a pregnancy test. [name_m]Just[/name_m] having fun, I decided to take a test as a joke, just so I could say I’d taken one. As you can imagine, it was a big surprise when it came back positive!
[name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] was suggested by our young niece who loves Frozen. We began jokingly referring to the baby as [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] and pretty soon the whole family was doing it. As we got closer to the birth, it grew on us more and more and couldn’t think of anything that sounded quite right aside from [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m]. Now we love it! [name_u]James[/name_u] if after [name_m]William[/name_m]’s dad.
[name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] was born [name_f]February[/name_f] 16. He has curly brown hair and brown eyes.

Year 2: Travel
I go on a business trip to [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. Although so may call us crazy for taking our 1 year old on a transatlantic flight, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to both visit [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], since [name_m]William[/name_m] has never been before. [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] was small enough that it was very manageable to travel with him, and we got so lucky that he is such a good baby! He hardly fussed at all on the flights and it turned a business trip into a great family memory.

Year 3: [name_f]Pet[/name_f]
We buy a dachshund puppy. His name is [name_m]Elvis[/name_m] and is the cutest little thing! [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] is too young to really help with him, but he has learned to be so sweet and gentle with our new family member and they actually even “play” together. [name_m]Elvis[/name_m] will chase [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] around when he toddles around, and [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] laughs so much at it.

Year 4: Moving
We permanently move to a new country from the US: [name_m]Germany[/name_m]! We’re living in a beautiful little single-story cottage that is hundreds of years old. This was a move that is helpful for both my job and [name_m]William[/name_m]’s. [name_m]William[/name_m] is working for a great new company based in Munich and my company also has an office there and has offered me a promotion working for them here.

Year 5: [name_f]Pet[/name_f]
With the recent move, we’ve all been experiencing some language fatigue and homesickness as we adjust to [name_m]German[/name_m] life. [name_m]William[/name_m] and I agreed that a new pet would be a nice way to recognize the move and reward all of us, including little [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m], who has done a great job of embracing our new life abroad. We had a bit of trouble, as I wanted a cat, [name_m]William[/name_m] wanted a dog, and [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] had decided he wanted a turtle. We’re not exactly sure how he got a turtle in his head, but we didn’t even know how to go about getting a turtle, so that one was off the table. We eventually decided on adopting a kitten from a local shelter, since we knew we wanted to adopt and were worried about adopting a dog who had been trained in [name_m]German[/name_m], since we’re still newbies at the language. Our kitten is named [name_f]Leia[/name_f].

Year 6: [name_m]Job[/name_m]
This year, [name_m]William[/name_m] decided to quit his job. He had been feeling unhappy for the last little while as the company had recently been sold to a larger corporation and some big changes were being made that were causing [name_m]William[/name_m] a lot of stress. He has decided to take this year off, with the exception of some freelancing here and there, since [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] is starting Kindergarten this year so that he soak in as much time as he can before our little boy isn’t so little, and after that he’ll return to work.

Year 7: Moving
This year we moved to a new city, although we’re staying in Bavaria. We made the permanent move from Munich to Würzburg and are living in a beautiful two-story house. [name_m]William[/name_m] was offered an amazing position with the university there and we were very interested in getting out of the big city feeling of Munich.

Year 8: Random
With our move to a new city, I was out of work, and this year myself and a good friend I’ve had since we first moved to [name_m]Germany[/name_m] decided to start our own business! We’ve launched a children’s clothing line that is focused on sustainability. The reception has been amazing and things have already started taking off!

Year 9: Travel
I went on a business trip to [name_u]Paris[/name_u] to meet with some executives about bringing our clothing line to [name_f]France[/name_f]. Since it was just a train ride to get there, [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] also came along. We had a great time visiting some of the sights and eating some yummy food. [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] was even able to show off some of the [name_u]French[/name_u] he’s learned in school!

Year 10: Travel
[name_m]William[/name_m] went on a business trip to Moscow as part of a research grant he had received. Because he was gone for 2 weeks, we didn’t go with him for the whole time, but for the last few days [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] and I flew in to be with him. [name_m]William[/name_m] and I both have family there so it was amazing to reconnect with them and to introduce [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] to that part of his heritage.

Year 11: Moving
This year we moved to a new country once again. This time we have relocated to Copenhagen, Denmark! We are living in a single-story house and are absolutely loving it. [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] has already begun picking up Danish. [name_m]William[/name_m] is teaching at a university and I am continuing to manage the children’s clothing line, which is now available in several European countries.

Year 12: Child
I went into labor a few weeks earlier than was anticipated, and almost ended up delivering in an unusual place: a museum! Looking back on it now, it’s a little embarrassing that my water broke in such a public and pristine place, but everyone was so helpful and kind and it will definitely be a fun story to tell down the road.

[name_m]William[/name_m] and I had been thinking about a double first name for a while, and [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] was something unusual as a combo but names that worked well in the many places we call home and have family and friends. It also uses my initials which is special to me for my little girl. [name_f]Frida[/name_f] is a name that we thought of after she was born, as a way to honor her being born in Denmark since it is a fairly common name here. It also pays homage to [name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_f]Kahlo[/name_f], an amazing painter, since she was very nearly born amongst many beautiful works of art!

Year 13: Child
After our baby girl was born, there was almost a mix-up between our child and another newborn! Because we are still learning Danish, we hadn’t understood when the nurse told us that a different nurse would be bringing our baby back to us from the nursery. This resulted in us panicking as we watched our nurse wheel what we thought was our baby off into another room, with a new nurse bringing us a baby we thought wasn’t ours. It caused a lot of confusion, but we finally realized that we had just not understood what our nurse had said!

[name_m]William[/name_m] has been volunteering at our local animal shelter with [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] recently as something that they can do together to help the community. It also helps [name_m]William[/name_m] learn Danish. Recently, [name_m]William[/name_m] came across an orphaned dachshund that reminded him of our [name_m]Elvis[/name_m], and he couldn’t stop thinking about him. [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] ended up convincing us when he reminded us that he was [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]’s age when we got [name_m]Elvis[/name_m] and also of our apparent tradition of having a pet from every country we’ve lived in. We’ve adopted our sweet little puppy and named her [name_f]Heidi[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] mom has moved to Denmark and moved in with us. After my dad died, she became more and more lonely, especially with us being so far away. With the birth of [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], along with the amazing things I’ve told her about our new home in Copenhagen, she immediately said yes when I proposed the idea to her! It also allows me to spend more time on my work as she is able to help watch after the girls for me.

Year 4: I found out I was pregnant just before I got minor surgery. They took my blood and discovered I was pregnant. I give birth to our first son. Year 5: [name_u]Kris[/name_u] and I get in a huge fight, resulting in him packing his bag and leaving. After 2 days he came back and we reconciled. We really got to talking about everything that happened and it has definitely strengthened our marriage!

Year 7: I give birth to our second son. Unfortunately [name_u]Kris[/name_u] wasn’t able to be present for the birth, because CJ was feeling really sick that day. Year 13: After having some trouble conceiving, we turn to fertility drugs. It is possible I’m pregnant with multiples. And I am! We have fraternal boy/girl twins. I wanted to surprise [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] with this pregnancy and wanted to include our children in the surprise, but [name_m]Luther[/name_m] told [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m] before I got the chance to. We name our son [name_m]Ruben[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] [name_m]Nilsson[/name_m], for my [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] heritage, and our daughter’s name is [name_u]Coco[/name_u] [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] [name_m]Nilsson[/name_m]. [name_u]Coco[/name_u]’s first name was suggested by [name_u]Corey[/name_u]-[name_u]James[/name_u] after he heard me discussing baby names with our neighbour. [name_u]Coco[/name_u] is the name of his favourite Disney movie.
Year 14: I give birth to our fourth daughter. I was very surprised, because I was convinced she was going to be a boy! We name her [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_m]Nilsson[/name_m], after [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m]’s best friend [name_m]Maxon[/name_m]. She was born on [name_f]February[/name_f] 1st. She has blonde wavy hair and blue eyes.
Year 15: We have unfortunately lost [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m]’s sister [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] and her husband [name_u]Charley[/name_u] [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] in a car accident. They leave their two sons. We offer to adopt the boys and raise them as our own. However, they cannot compromise on a breed. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] wants a Siberian Husky and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] wants a smaller dog. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] decides that a better compromise would be an Australian [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. They get a female [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_u]Merle[/name_u] Aussie which they decide to name [name_f]Millie[/name_f].

Year 2: During this year, [name_f]Mady[/name_f]’s younger brother, [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], has to move in with her and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m]. [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is eighteen and is just starting university. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] live closer to university than their parents and it would save her brother from renting a place for the year or paying for on-campus residence. [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] only stays for about eight months, just long enough to get acquainted with university and not worry about the additional stress of residence. He is able to focus on school and work and is able to save up enough money to buy his only place for the following year.

Year 3: This year [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] was feeling out of sorts, and not like himself. He was rather down for a while and after growing concern went to the doctors. He was diagnosed with depression. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] is very supportive of him and encourages and helps him whenever possible. While it did put their plans on expanding their family on hold for another year, they believe it is more than worth it because they believe self care is important and should be prioritized.

Year 4: [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] have decided to move out of the city, where they moved to after they were married, in order to establish their careers without the added stress of distant-commuting. Now, careers established, they have decided to move out into the county, to the small town where they grew up, in order to be closer to family. It increases their commute time by about twenty minutes, but it is worth it.

Year 5: Their fifth year of marriage, [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] discover that they are expanding their family with a baby. They have been looking froward to having children one and are very excited for this baby, but they are a little disappointed. They were supposed to go visit family out [name_u]West[/name_u] in the upcoming months, and also turn it into a mini vacation for themselves. They have been planning it for quite a while and are now unable to go until after the baby is born. However, they couldn’t be happier when they welcome their baby boy [name_m]Russell[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Dixon[/name_m]. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] was born 12 of [name_f]May[/name_f] with small wisps of wavy dark brown hair and hazel eyes.

Year 6: This year, other than enjoying the ups and downs of parenthood, the other major excitement or deviation in their lives is [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m]’s business trip. [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m]’s boss chose him to attend this business meeting because he thought he was the most capable. It initially involved him going out of province for two weeks. While they did not want to be separated they could handle two weeks. However, when [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] got their he discovered that it was actually going to be almost two months, but would more than likely result in him getting a promotion and more authority. The two moths were a lot harder than what they were expecting. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] had to take care of [name_m]Russell[/name_m] by herself, with help from their families, but without the physical support of her husband. [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] wasn’t present for some of [name_m]Russell[/name_m]’s firsts despite the constant updates via photos, videos and communications.They could manage a part, but it definitely showed they do not want to be a part.

Year 7: [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] decided they wanted to have children close in age, wanting [name_m]Russell[/name_m] to have siblings close to him. However, this time they had trouble conceiving, they had a few miscarriages and chemical pregnancies before they decided to try fertility drugs. Luckily, that works and they are expanding their family. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] were so anxious to find out if the fertility drugs worked, that during her break time, [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] brought [name_f]Mady[/name_f] a couple of tests and she took them at school and struggled to keep the good news a secret for the remainder of the day. They were cautioned that they have a higher chance of expecting multiples, but that was not the case for them. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] welcome a beautiful little girl on 30 of [name_u]November[/name_u]. Her name is [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_m]Dixon[/name_m]. She has curly light brown hair and light blue eyes.

Year 8: [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] decide to promote an active and creative life for their children, even despite their young ages. [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] is only a year old, and [name_m]Russell[/name_m] is three years old, but they both participate in different ‘after school activities’. [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] is part of a ‘[name_u]Baby[/name_u] and parent’ swim class and [name_m]Russell[/name_m] plays on a toddler soccer team. Both seem to enjoy their activities and look forward to attending them weekly.

Year 9: [name_f]Mady[/name_f] has decided to write a book about her time in university. While she enjoyed herself and learned new things and was given opportunities and experiences she may not have had else where, she also had some negative memories. As well, she had a lot of self discovery which shaped her mindset and reflection about her overall university experiences. She feels like this literature would open up new discourse within the university community and may help current university students understand that they are not alone and that it is okay to feel differently after completion or during attendance. The joys, downfalls, grievances, discoveries and failed expectations of the university experience.

Year 10: This year [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] have decided to renovate some of their house. They love their house, and they even liked that it required some updates and projects when they bought it. However, with young children those plans and intentions were put on the back burner for a while. With the profits from her book, they were able to renovate their kitchens and bathrooms, along with some garden maintenance outside. [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] was in charge of a lot of the renovations, hiring help when needed, and even [name_f]Mady[/name_f] got her hands dirty.

Year 11: This year [name_f]Mady[/name_f] take a girls-trip out of town to the nearby city for [name_f]Mady[/name_f]’s friend’s fortieth birthday. They have a nice full day that begins with brunch and ends with attending the local festival and maybe a too few many drinks.

Year 12: Now during their twelfth year of marriage, [name_m]Russell[/name_m] is seven and [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] is five. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] decide to have another child. They welcome a baby boy that they name [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Dixon[/name_m], honouring [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m]’s grandfather who passed away a few years back whose name was [name_m]Samson[/name_m]. Shortly after [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] was born, there was an almost mix-up between [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and another newborn baby boy in the unit. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and the other baby were both wearing the same onesie and hat, and their identification bracelet fell off. They brought the babies into the wrong rooms and the mix up was noticed by the mother’s when going through the bassinets and recovering the bracelets. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] was born on 8 of [name_f]April[/name_f] and has straight light brown hair and dark brown eyes.

Year 13: This year [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] take a weekend getaway. Life has been really busy with three children and to relax and reconnect, they have decided to rent a cabin in Muskoka for the weekend. It is a beautiful, serene location and is very ‘outdoorsy’ which they both love. While there they enjoy the nature (and each other). They go for walks and have bonfires, fish and go canoeing. The weekend was too short and they promise each other to try and do this at least every couple of years; it was rejuvenating.

Year 14: [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] have always considered adoption, but were blessed with their three children. However, they would like a fourth and (probably) final child, but do not want to worry about added health hazards with [name_f]Mady[/name_f] being over forty. So, they turn to adoption. They are quickly paired with a one-year-old girl from the neighbouring city in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]. Her name is [name_f]Roxanna[/name_f], but [name_f]Mady[/name_f] and [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m] decide to change her name to [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Roxanna[/name_f] [name_m]Dixon[/name_m]. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] has wavy brown hair and blue dark blue eyes. Her birthday is 26 of [name_u]November[/name_u], only a few days before [name_f]Adaline[/name_f]’s. When [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] learned this, she was very happy to have her new sister’s birthday so close to hers.

Year 15: It turns out, during their fifteenth year of marriage, [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] was not their last child. Unexpectedly, [name_f]Mady[/name_f] is pregnant again, with the couple’s fifth child. They were concerned about [name_f]Mady[/name_f] being forty-two years old, but she had a healthy pregnancy. They welcomed their third baby boy [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] [name_m]Dixon[/name_m]. [name_m]Mitchel[/name_m]’s mother was insisting on us using the name [name_m]John[/name_m] if the baby was a boy, after he grandfather and her brother. However, the name was too common and too dated for our tastes. But, not wanting to be on her bad side, we found a version we liked, ‘[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]’, and put it as his middle name. If welcoming a baby into a family which already consisted of four children was not crazy enough, [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] was born in a rush on [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] day. [name_f]Mady[/name_f] had been feeling uncomfortable in the morning while the children were opening presents, but attributed it to being heavily pregnant. Turns out it was labour, and it quickly progressed, so quick that [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] arrived before [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] dinner, and someone had to go back to the house to turn the oven off and take the burnt turkey out of the oven. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] has curly dark brown hair and blue eyes.

[name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_u]Truth[/name_u] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] (5lbs, 17inches) is born at the [name_m]Fort[/name_m] [name_m]Worth[/name_m] Zoo during a ceremony honoring [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and his fellow Zoologists for their heroic rescue of a Cheetah cub.

The next year [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_f]Alara[/name_f] & [name_f]Leona[/name_f] travel to the [name_u]Philadelphia[/name_u] Zoo. The Zoo has been scouting [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], and granted him an all-expenses paid trip if he would like a tour of the zoo.

[name_f]Leona[/name_f] is 2 years old when she goes to [name_f]Alara[/name_f], lays her head on her stomach and tells her, “Mommy, you are having a baby.” Surprised, [name_f]Alara[/name_f] tells her daughter that she certainly isn’t. Shaken by her toddler’s bold prediction, in combination with her late period, [name_f]Alara[/name_f] takes a pregnancy test. The test is positive. One month later, she learns she’s pregnant with twins. He got called away on a business trip and was suppose to be back in time, but his flights were cancelled. Year 14: Both my parents and [name_u]Asher[/name_u]’s parents have asked to be present in the delivery room for the birth of our twins. I was not excited about this at first, but since they would probably be our last children, I decided that it would be okay.
