16 & Pregnant

… So I was watching this MTV show called ‘16 & Pregant’ (I know… the things you’ll watch when your too fat to leave the house!) and one of the girls named there baby [name]Bentley[/name] [name]Cadence[/name] (a boy) thought it was unique…

I watch it too (I know I know) and its better than some other ones, like [name]Leah[/name] [name]Leann[/name]…

I was really surprised with the names! I was sure the teenagers would come up with crazy names, but they didn’t!
The names were:
[name]Bentley[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Jocelyn[/name]
[name]Carolyn[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Weston[/name]

I don’t know, I guess I was surprised with their classic choices!

I was too! I love [name]Leah[/name]… so, so classic… yet it isnt overused, which I like… [name]Weston[/name] and [name]Bentley[/name] are both adorable names to me as well… actually, every name on the list is great… which like you, suprises me… geez, [name]Ashley[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] is like 24, and she named her child [name]Bronx[/name] [name]MOWGLI[/name], yet a 16 year old can come up with a beautiful, classic name… haha

whooa- [name]Leah[/name] [name]Lenn[/name]? are you serious… I havent seen that episode! Poor, Poor child!!! [name]Both[/name] nice names… but TOGETHER?! shheesssssssh

Dead serious!

I was 16, well actually 17 and pregnant… and named my DAUGHTER [name]Bradley[/name]…
The silly things we do as teenagers.
lol.

afreespirit-You’re laughing about that? Your OWN child???

Well Purplecopia, I kn ow it sounds horrible… but I mean, really? [name]Bradley[/name] for a girl? I think we can all find the humour in a 17 year old naming her baby girl [name]Bradley[/name]. I had my reasons, wich I ofcourse stick by, and I couldnt picture her having any other name, and she is beautiful and perfect, but now that it is 10 years later, I ofcourse, see the problems with giving her a 100% masculine name. When I register her for things, people automatically asume she is male, she sometimes ends up with blue coloured nametags, etc… which of course embarsses her.

the new season of this show so far has a
[name]Neveah[/name]
[name]Jace[/name]
and [name]Lyle[/name]

thoughts?

[name]Nevaeh[/name] makes me cringe. i dislike that name a lot. [name]Jace[/name] isn’t particularly my style and [name]Lyle[/name] surprised me, i wonder if it was a family name?

[name]Lyle[/name] surprised me too! She never mentioned why she chose my name… but never thought it would be the choice of a 16 year old! Personally, THAT name makes me cringe!!! The idea of [name]Neveah[/name], I like ([name]Heaven[/name] spelled backwards) but it is so overused now, that the idea is no longer unique or original.I personally know 2 people wh have daughters under the age of 2 with this name… and its usually paired with “[name]Angel[/name]” or something else “religious”

[name]Neveah[/name]… ugh. First of all, it’s not even [name]Heaven[/name] spelled backwards, it’s [name]Heaven[/name] MISspelled backwards.

And if heaven spelled backwards = the opposite of heaven and the opposite of heaven = hell, then… I can only assume these girls are naming their kids “Hell”, while wrongly assuming they’re naming them something cute and religious. Gross.

[name]Hi[/name]!

I honestly don’t understand the logic behind [name]Nevaeh[/name] (or [name]Neveah[/name], whatever it is!) essentially meaning “hell.” Yes, [name]Nevaeh[/name] is heaven spelled backwards, but that doesn’t make it hell! Hell is the opposite of heaven, yes, but it isn’t heaven spelled backwards. So, I just don’t really get the logic there. I personally don’t like the name because of how it looks, not because of what it does or doesn’t stand for. To me, it looks like a jumbled mess of letters, and I prefer more, well, organized names, like [name]Emmeline[/name].

I only watched the season - [name]Season[/name] One - of 16 and Pregnant with [name]Maci[/name] and [name]Bentley[/name], [name]Farrah[/name] and [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Amber[/name] and [name]Leah[/name], and [name]Catelynn[/name] and (adopted) [name]Carly[/name]. I thought that the girls made largely good choices! [name]Leah[/name] is a classic Biblical name that sounds fresh and feminine. [name]Sophia[/name], despite its popularity, is an elegant classic, and I love that [name]Farrah[/name] always calls her [name]Sophia[/name]. [name]Bentley[/name], though it is both a car name and a surname name, sounds so adorable when [name]Maci[/name] says it, and I think it fits her child - who I really also think looks like a [name]Lucas[/name]! As for [name]Catelynn[/name] - what a spelling! - I don’t know if she or the adoptive parents chose [name]Carly[/name] for her baby, but it seems fairly innocuous to me!

It appears that [name]Season[/name] Two has [name]Samantha[/name] and baby [name]Jordynn[/name], [name]Lori[/name] and baby [name]Aidan[/name] (adopted), [name]Chelsea[/name] and baby [name]Aubree[/name] [name]Skye[/name], [name]Valerie[/name] and baby [name]Nevaeh[/name], [name]Nikkole[/name] “[name]Nikki[/name]” and baby [name]Lyle[/name] [name]Thomas[/name], and [name]Jenelle[/name] and baby [name]Jace[/name]. What do I think of those names, overall?

It appears that the moms on [name]Season[/name] Two are, in general, more fans of trendy names, which is fine. I don’t much care for the spelling of [name]Jordynn[/name], and it isn’t my favorite unisex name, but it isn’t terrible. [name]Aidan[/name], though popular, is a nice name in my opinion, and we don’t know if [name]Lori[/name] or the adoptive parents chose it. While I’m not a fan of [name]Aubree[/name] - especially with that spelling - [name]Aubree[/name] [name]Skye[/name] does have a certain cute-factor to it. Well, I’ve said my piece on [name]Nevaeh[/name], but she DID spell it correctly if she wanted heaven spelled backwards, so good job with that, [name]Valerie[/name]! [name]Lyle[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] is certainly an interesting, vintage choice, and I applaud her naming effort! And, though it isn’t my style, [name]Jace[/name] is a perfectly innocuous name.

Take care, all!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Lemon[/name],

[name]Carly[/name] is a nickname for [name]Carolyn[/name], which was chosen by the adoptive parents, [name]Brandon[/name] and [name]Theresa[/name]. Compared to last season I’m not that impressed with this season’s names.

[name]Alexis[/name]

Oh, thanks [name]Alexis[/name]! I was wondering if [name]Catelynn[/name] had chosen [name]Carly[/name], or if [name]Brandon[/name] and [name]Theresa[/name] did. [name]Carolyn[/name] “[name]Carly[/name]” is nice…

[name]Lemon[/name]

Okay, I think the names on last night’s episode may take the cake for me. The mother, [name]Leah[/name], had twins she named Alliannah and [name]Aleeah[/name]. Seriously? Not a fan at all.

[name]Alexis[/name]

The names last season were far superior; I don’t know what happened with this new batch of teen moms! So far I only like [name]Lyle[/name]. [name]Even[/name] more eye-opening is this discussion on mtv.com Reality TV Shows, Celebrity News, Pop Culture & Music Videos | MTV, where all these young moms are bragging about having named their kids ridiculous things like “Xa’Kaevyan Kohelre (pronounced Zuh-K-V-N [name]Cole[/name]-er)” and [name]Isabella[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Suddenly [name]Jace[/name] and [name]Aubree[/name] aren’t looking so bad. The next generation desperately needs a Nameberry intervention!

I was watching that last night with my mom - we both agree that it is a very effective form of birth control - and I paused the tv and ranted for about 3 minutes about how horrible those names are. [name]Just[/name] horrid.
These girls are giving teenagers a bad rep for having bad tastes in names, when a lot actually don’t. But besides the name factor, just the whole situation of last night’s episode was pretty bad.

im sorry. whaT??? I dont get what youre trying to say…
