1920's Heroine Name

I’m looking to find a name for the heroine of my novel. I want a name that reflects her personality, the time and her physical description (and after seeing a few posts from other authors looking for names i thought i’d try and see if i got any good answers). The book is set in [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans in the 1920s. The heroine is a young nurse who falls for an older man who she discovers to be involved in the bootlegging industry. Torn between morality and love for a criminal twice her age.

I originally planned on naming her [name_f]Florence[/name_f], but on second thought gave the name to another heroine in my other book. She is sweet, wise, patient, kind and as I’ve described concerned and morally conscious. Her appearance: curly brown hair, brown deer-in-the-headlights eyes, and rosy complextion. She is known as a very beautiful girl. Her best quality is her ability to see good in the worst of people.

I am open to suggestions for her love interest, [name_m]Merrick[/name_m], he has a tough but sweet personality. Rough around the edges personality with a chip on his shoulder because of his hard life. Masculine appearance. He has bright turquoise-blue eyes, short hair, looks young for his age (49), broad shoulered. Also a bit of a redneck.

Thank you. Much appreciation for your time.

I would give her something with a [name_m]French[/name_m] sound since this is set in [name_f]NOLA[/name_f]. Some suggestions:

Thank you, I like [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] and [name_f]Louise[/name_f] for her. Although I got a few other replys on another post (yup, I keep accidently posting multiplesome of the same post), anyway, another popular answer was [name_f]Irene[/name_f]. I like it. But maybe with a twist EYE-[name_u]REY[/name_u]-NA. [name_m]How[/name_m] would that be spelled? Ireina? Ireine? Please help, thx. Also, what do you think about the short synopsis of my story? Intereting? Would it be something that you would read?

As for the pronunciation of [name_f]Irene[/name_f] you’re looking for - I don’t know how I would spell that. There’s always [name_f]Irena[/name_f] which you could pronounce eye-ree-nah. Then there’s [name_f]Irina[/name_f] which is pronounced ee-ree-nah.
