We are having a tough time picking a boys name after 3 girls, [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. Italian last name starts with P-. We have Italian/Spanish heritage and prefer a name that leans European. I’d prefer a softer, more feminine name. My Baby Name DNA is Charmer-Romantic, so has to be something that isn’t completely unheard of.
So far we have
[name_m]Andrea[/name_m] - I love that its a feminine name that means manly, it goes well with his sisters and is clearly Italian. I’m a bit worried that everyone will pronounce it ANN-dree-a instead of ahn-DRAY-a. It also seems long enough that he’ll end up with a nn. I don’t like Andre and Andy is pronounced differently.
[name_m]Luca[/name_m] - This has always been my go to boys name we’ve never been able to use. My husband is a bit worried its become too popular lately. I don’t think its any more popular than Sophia or Amelia. Also a concern it’s too close to Lydia
[name_m]Elia[/name_m] - I had never heard of this name until I met an Italian man with it about 10 years ago, only person ever. At first it seemed odd, but grew on me. I’m not sure if people will think its a girl’s name by default. Also unclear if its too hard to pronounce.
Other names considered [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] nn [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] nn [name_m]Nico[/name_m] (also very popular), [name_m]Christian[/name_m] (although I’m not a fan of [name_m]Chris[/name_m] as a nn), and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] (hubby’s fav but i’m not a fan).
Names we do not like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Noah[/name_m], [name_m]Joshua[/name_m].
Middle name will most likely be [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] or [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m].
Another girl would have been much easier to name Please tell me there’s a hidden gem i’m missing.
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m] (classic and softer than a lot of boys names) nn [name_u]Rafe[/name_u]
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] nn [name_u]Mo[/name_u] or even [name_u]Ozzy[/name_u]
[name_u]Florian[/name_u] nn [name_f]Flori[/name_f], [name_m]Ian[/name_m]
[name_m]Alessio[/name_m]
[name_m]Leandro[/name_m] nn [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
[name_m]Dario[/name_m] nn Dare or [name_u]Rio[/name_u]
[name_m]Gustav[/name_m] nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u] or [name_m]Goose[/name_m]
[name_m]Sandro[/name_m] nn San or [name_f]Sandi[/name_f]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] is lovely - I think it’s less popular than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]! [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] are fine to me - the difference in second letter and syllable count separate them enough
[name_u]Elia[/name_u] is nice too! I’d guess at the Ell-ee-uh pronunciation?
With [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], I’d suggest:
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] fits well with your girls names. If anything I would have thought it’s less popular than your other children’s names.
If you’re not completely sold on [name_u]Luca[/name_u] or [name_u]Elia[/name_u], perhaps [name_m]Elio[/name_m] would be a good choice?
