For years, I was obsessed with names and knew that i would definitely have a name for my baby when the time came. Well, now that time is here and I havent a clue. We are having our first, a little girl, in 2 months now and I really want to be able to call her something besides peanut. Why can I not commit to a name? [name]How[/name] do you know it is the ONE?. We are open to suggestions. We tend to like traditional, easy to say and spell, possibly southern names that are not in the top 10. I also tend to like unisex names. DH is on board with a few.[name]Pearl[/name] will be the middle name. These are the top contenders right now:
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] nn [name]Charlee[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] but do not like the meaning is that important?nn [name]Della[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Avery[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
Beazley [name]Pearl[/name]- a family name that DH loves
[name]Mallory[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]-nn [name]Mally[/name]
Avaline-pronounced Avuh-line- [name]Pearl[/name] not [name]Ava[/name]
I have spent so much time thinking about this and feel so much pressure to come up with the perfect name. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Last name is [name]German[/name] and sounds like Handbag. Thanks so much ladies!
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name] are great names! I have a daughter named [name]Adelaide[/name], maybe you like that name? I think [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] sounds great too. Or [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]?
I like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Mallory[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Avery[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
and [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
What about [name]Beatriz[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]?
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Emma[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Millicent[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]

[name]Addison[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] nn [name]Addie[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Leah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
For my partner and I, who don’t have children yet, we knew our favourite girls name was “The one” when we started seeing little girls and saying, that’s what our [name]Claudie[/name] will be like, or imagining scenarios where she would say or do things and putting together this little personality for her. [name]Even[/name] though at the time, another name was “top” on our list, we both felt much more attached to the idea of [name]Claudie[/name] and after a while realised she had become our “favourite” and the other name was dropped. Of course this doesn’t mean she’ll live up to how we imagine here, obviously we know she’ll be her own person and that’s amazing, but just wanted to explain how we came to the decision of which name was “The one”. Now we spend time trying to decide who this little madame’s siblings might be!
Anyway on to your name list.
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] nn [name]Charlee[/name] - I think this is a beautiful combo
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] - This is ok, but I’d prefer [name]Georgina[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] but do not like the meaning is that important?nn [name]Della[/name] - I know what you mean about the meaning, [name]Claudie[/name] means lame :S However it is also french for [name]Claudia[/name], and [name]Gladys[/name] (my partners late grandmothers name) is Welsh for [name]Claudia[/name] as well as there being a [name]Queen[/name] in Welsh history who went by the names [name]Claudia[/name] and [name]Gwladys[/name] so that’s the story we’ll give our daughter when she asks where her name comes from. [name]Do[/name] you have any other reason for choosing [name]Delaney[/name] that you can give to your daughter? Maybe a namesake? Having said that it’s not my favourite name.
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] - This is pretty but I’m now bowled over. [name]How[/name] about [name]Naomi[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]? [name]Natalia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]?
[name]Avery[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] - I’m not too keen on this
Beazley [name]Pearl[/name]- a family name that DH loves - This is definitely an interesting name however I would use it as a middle name along with [name]Pearl[/name], if you’re ok with 2 middles. I don’t like it as a first.
[name]Mallory[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]-nn [name]Mally[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like this sorry. There is a Welsh name [name]Mali[/name] that’s cute though.
Avaline-pronounced Avuh-line- [name]Pearl[/name] not [name]Ava[/name] - this would cause a lifetime of correcting people on how to pronounce it, for you and your daughter. Plus I’m lukewarm on the name itself.
Sorry that the list is so long! I just tried to include all the different kinds of names you like, classics like [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Natalie[/name], placenames like [name]Georgia[/name], unisex and surname names like [name]Mallory[/name], [name]Avery[/name] and Beazley and girly names like Avaline.
[name]Hope[/name] that helps! And of your current choices I best like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Pearl[/name].
Let me know if you like any on the list or want a different style of name?
I like [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] the most! I had a [name]Georgia[/name] in my preschool class this year and loved saying her name!
I had a hard time choosing between my last few names when I named my daughter. A couple of months before I was due, we had the baby shower and I had to register for monogrammed things, so I just picked the one we were leaning towards at the time. From then on out, it just became her name. I still love the other names, but they aren’t “her” name. They are in consideration for the second dd.
Wow , guys. Thanks so much for your replies. You do not know how much I appreciate them! Other naming boards are definitely not this helpful and sincere.
michaela- I can not do [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Leah[/name] or [name]Emma[/name] because of them being taken by family already. Thx though.
ljandry- thanks for the lengthy response. I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Some names were ones I had never heard of. Thanks for explaining how you knew THE NAME. Hopefully you will not change your mind on that when the time comes.
[name]Delaney[/name] would be for my DH aunt [name]Elaine[/name] who passed away a few years ago. She never married or had kids of her own. [name]Just[/name] took care of her parents until their deaths and played a big role in DH childhood. I thought that would be a way of honoring her I also love [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Lillian[/name] and [name]Kendall[/name], but can not use because of family. I like Francesa but dont want her called [name]Frankie[/name]. I also started liking [name]Margot[/name] recently, but everytime I said it my DH would yell out [name]POLO[/name]! like we were playing [name]Marco[/name] [name]Polo[/name] …lol. He also doesnt like [name]Cordelia[/name] or [name]Delilah[/name].
Phoebes mom- thx for your comments. I like saying [name]Georgia[/name] too. It is very soft and I almost say it with a southern drawl.
At this point I think we are torn between [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] and I just dont know which one is THE ONE. DH wants to flip a quarter, but I have to be sensitive and emotional and think it through some more. Thx again. you guys are great!!
Have you considered [name]Elena[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name] as a way of honouring [name]Elaine[/name]?
And I get the whole [name]Margot[/name] issue with your husband! Everytime I try to sell my partner on [name]Eulalia[/name] he giggles and says Ukulele - not helpful!! Lol.
Your not the only one hoping I don’t change my mind when the time comes, I’ve had moments of wavering just because I think of the name so much it doesn’t seem fresh anymore, but my partner loves it so much that he always brings me back round and I know deep down it’s the name for us!
Anyway my choice would still be [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]…or maybe even [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Elaina[/name]
