I almost voted for [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u], but I’m afraid it will sound too much like “she’ll be true” so that has put me off. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m] isn’t appealing to me, I’m afraid - it resembles “silver gold” and that’s worse. I like the idea of the double-barreled [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] name, although on the negative side it would follow the exact pattern of the older sister, and if you ever had more children, might you feel obligated to keep up the set?
I like [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] but I don’t think it qualifies as “timeless.” I voted for [name_f]Coralina[/name_f]. It’s unusual, feminine, distinct, and has the playful (but classy) kind of “feel” that [name_m]Ellary[/name_m] [name_u]Day[/name_u] has.
Sorry, I still don’t think [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] is classy.
I’d say [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] fits best with your daughter’s name. It has he feminine connection but doesn’t sound very girly, just like [name_m]Ellary[/name_m]. It definitely is unique and timeless but has the same modern feel as [name_m]Ellary[/name_m].
I haven’t voted but looking at your criteria I wanted to say that to me, [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] is not clearly a girl name - partly it feels masculine to me because I know it’s a surname, and partly I think because it’s close enough to [name_m]Winston[/name_m].
THANK YOU all who have voted thus far and a HUGE THANKS for the comments/thoughts. They are beyond helpful. It is great to hear some of the sentiments that I have, namely I do wonder if [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] is actually classy or is one of those names people use who try to be classy/sophisticated. I also am considered that [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] is too modern. One person mentioned “a little hipster” to me, but then I fall back to the countless Winstons / [name_m]Whitman[/name_m] / etc. that are so very classic and timeless. It seems hard to think [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] is ultra modern / hipster. THANKS again for the help! I love reading the thoughts.
It occurred to me that if you went with [name_f]Colette[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Cosette[/name_f], you’d hit the “classy, elegant, timeless” description right on the head. Might be something to consider!
Good luck with the new babe! You have a variety of nice names, but I’m a sucker for [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it with either middle, although I voted for [name_u]True[/name_u].
Sharing your joy as you anxiously anticipate the arrival of your second daughter.
[name_f]Coralina[/name_f], [name_f]Cosette[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] are equally thoroughly lovely names.
[name_u]Alwyn[/name_u], [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] and [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] from your previous lists are those I find stylistically most compatible with [name_m]Ellary[/name_m].
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u] fits your criteria best I think. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] it itself is the most timeless and elegant of the bunch and making it into a double name with [name_u]True[/name_u] makes it very unique and memorable. [name_m]Gold[/name_m] isn’t very elegant, any name that is related to wealth is often seen as the opposite.
[name_f]Winslet[/name_f] is a nice name and works well with the sister but is very androgynous.
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] is very frilly and girlish.
[name_f]Coralina[/name_f] is very pretty but not very memorable given the skyrocketing popularity of [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and of -line/-lina names.
I love the name [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] …just not so much [name_u]True[/name_u] or [name_m]Gold[/name_m] with it… I voted for [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] …my 2nd fave actually:) good luck!
I’m torn between [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u], [name_f]Winslet[/name_f], and [name_f]Coralina[/name_f]. If I could mix and match, I’d prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] with [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] or [name_f]Winslet[/name_f]. (ie [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]/[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Winslet[/name_f]). But probably wouldn’t work as as a double first. In the end I think I like [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] best with [name_m]Ellary[/name_m] [name_u]Day[/name_u]–they have a similar stateliness to them.
I really hope you choose [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u]. I think it is so pretty and goes with your other daughters name perfectly. I love that you use your daughters middle names and I just love the name [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u]. Crossing my fingers that you find that perfect name!
P.S. [name_f]Cossette[/name_f] does not sound classy or elegant to me at all. I’m so surprised it is in the running.
I voted [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]. It seems like the best match with [name_m]Ellary[/name_m] [name_u]Day[/name_u]. They both give me a magical, ethereal, crystalline feeling.
My second choice would be [name_f]Winslet[/name_f]. And third would be [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u] because I like that it is also a double name. I love ‘[name_m]Gold[/name_m]’ but not necessarily with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
I voted for [name_f]Winslet[/name_f]. I think it feels very girly, I really couldn’t imagine a boy named [name_f]Winslet[/name_f], or anything ending in the -ette sound. I’m surprised there’s even other votes for [name_f]Winslet[/name_f], not because it’s an awful name or anything like that, but I’m just so used to doing these polls and inevitably always finding my opinion in the vast minority lol. I also love [name_f]Cosette[/name_f], it’s a gorgeous [name_m]French[/name_m] name that I think would age well, and on the plus side I’ve never met either a [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] or a [name_f]Winslet[/name_f], young or old.
Hello all you helpers!!! Your feedback has been so great. I especially find it interesting reading the comments that align with some of my thoughts exactly. It is good to see some think/see the same way – and it is good to get opposite thoughts that make me think too.
The hubby really favors [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. I just really don’t know if I want this kiddo to have a double name. It has been such a challenge for [name_m]Ellary[/name_m] [name_u]Day[/name_u]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] my husband’s family refuses to call her “her name” – [name_m]Ellary[/name_m] [name_u]Day[/name_u]. They just say and write [name_m]Ellary[/name_m] ALL THE TIME. I have been able to correct schools, etc. enough. And she is getting better at making people call her her name too – she really likes her full name over just [name_m]Ellary[/name_m]. Anyway, I worry the same thing will happen with say [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u]. And [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] alone just does not really meet my first criteria of being very memorable and unique. I just worry it is too much like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. That has been in the top 5 for a while, so there are a lot with that name (which is gorgeous but popular).
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] would work? I assume if it were that, she would always be called just [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]?!? That is why I originally figured [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u].
Right now I am leaning toward [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]/[name_f]Coralina[/name_f] (or even [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] as that state has personal meaning to us) or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] Kariss (Kariss is a family name); I don’t think [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] can go back to back.
