Hi everyone! Im new to nameberry but have been a name lover for as long as I can remember. To get started around here I thought I would share my top 10 Girls names (and boys on that forum) since its the start of a new year and my list is pretty much ever-changing! Please share your current favorites, too! Id love to see what everyones naming style is and maybe find some new favorites to add to my list!
Delta (this name immediately jumped to my top 10 when I heard it last month on little Delta Bell)
Sutton ( I adore the meaning of this one, “from the southern homestead”.)
Rowan
Pearl
Elliott (not a fan of this name for a boy but love it with the double T for a girl)
Willa
Norah
Caroline
Georgia
Eloise
Obviously, I’m a fan of southern and more old-fashioned/classic names. haha
[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to the boards - have fun!
[name_f]Delta[/name_f] – I like [name_f]Delta[/name_f] a lot, and for me, it immediately makes me think (Australia singer/songwriter) [name_f]Delta[/name_f] Goodrem, and there are no negative associations for me there at all - she’s pretty great. [name_f]Delta[/name_f] is quirky, yet not overly so and I like it a lot.
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] – I really don’t like this at all to be honest. I find it very harsh and unappealing, for both genders.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] – I’m seeing this a lot as a girl’s name, however, I very, very much prefer it on a boy.
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] – A sweet and classy little gem, and as a first name (rather than a middle where it seems it is usually placed) I think it quite refreshing.
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] – See [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] – I like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] a lot. She’s sweet yet spunky and simple but not at all bland. Very nice.
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] – A nice, classy little thing that’s getting a lot more attention recently.
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] – I’m not overly fond of this one due to it’s whiny sound, however, it’s really not a bad name.
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] – See [name_f]Norah[/name_f].
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] – [name_f]El[/name_f]- names seem to be on trend lately, though [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is not overly common, which I like the idea of. It’s like taking the trend and making it your own in a way I suppose. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is a sweet, gentle and classy little thing.
My top three here would have to be [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Delta[/name_f] & [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], with my least favourites being [name_u]Sutton[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
As for my own top ten, well, it’s more of a top five right now…
Freya/Freyja
Lalita
Ariadne
Lilja
Sunniva
I love [name_f]Delta[/name_f]! It’s a very overlooked name with a lot of potential. I’m not a fan of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] on a girl or [name_u]Sutton[/name_u], but the others are quite nice! My top ten is in my signature.
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] - sounds to masculine to appeal to me
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - not really a fan
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - beautiful
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] - I really very much dislike it for girls, especially the tt spelling makes it boyish to me ([name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u]), for girls I’d go with [name_f]Eliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] -
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] but I like the sound of both
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - great name
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] - very pretty, [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] & [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] would make a sweet pair
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] - absolutely gorgeous
My personal Top 10:
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]! I would like [name_f]Delta[/name_f] if it weren’t for all the terrible airline experiences.
My top 10:
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Raina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_u]Sky[/name_u]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
I’d never considered [name_f]Delta[/name_f] before, very pretty.
My top ten girls names:
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Amalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Delta[/name_f] - I definitely get southern bell from this name, but I don’t hate it
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] - I usually don’t like boys names on girls, but this is an exception. I find the name too weak on a boy and think it works slightly better on a girl
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - I like this for a boy, but it’s a lovely name
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - I’m warming to this
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] - I really like on a boy rather than a girl
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] - love. This name is so sweet and lovely!
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] - I like this name without the -h ending, but it’s so lovely
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - This name is definitely a classic
I love [name_f]Delta[/name_f] a lot! When I was a young child, [name_f]Delta[/name_f] Goodrem’s music was my favourite so I will always have a soft spot for it. I don’t care for [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (it’s strictly a boy name in UK) and [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] (just reminds me of the [name_u]London[/name_u] borough and mutton), but the rest are nice.
I don’t have a top 10, but some of my favourites are:
Hello [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], welcome to Nameberry! I am also a [name_u]Courtney[/name_u] now, judging by my avatar.
I absolutely adore [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] from your list. Such a stylish, gorgeous name and I like nickname [name_m]Geordie[/name_m] a lot.
My top names are in my signature.
[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to NameBerry! Have a great time! By the way from your list I think [name_f]Delta[/name_f], [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] and [name_f]Norah[/name_f] are lovely names.
I actually don’t have a Top 10! But here are my current favorite girl names:
Of your list, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]; I quite like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]; and the rest aren’t my style. I do have somewhat of a weakness for [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] (I say that because in theory it has nothing in common with my usual style and preferences but for whatever reason it makes me smile).
You may also like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] ([name_f]Willa[/name_f] often reminds me of [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]).
I don’t have a formal top 10, but these days I’m especially fond of [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Maria[/name_f], [name_f]Talia[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] (if I’m thinking about names I’d potentially actually use as first names).
My more guilty pleasure names (names I adore but that I’d save for the middle name spot because I think they’d be hard to wear) include [name_f]Ismene[/name_f] (from the play “[name_f]Antigone[/name_f]”), Psamathe (Greek “goddess of sandy beaches”), [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] (just because it’s pretty).
Somewhere in between the really realistic ones and the really tricky ones are [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Amadea[/name_f], [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] and [name_f]Mireille[/name_f].
