Girls Top 10:

I haven’t really had the chance to really study the new list yet, but I did check on my children’s names:

[name_m]William[/name_m] - Still amazingly consistent! Fourth year as number five.
[name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] (middle) - Actually one less [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] was born in 2015 (only twelve), compared to 2014 (13).
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] - Slightly dipped to 179 after staying at 170 for the past couple of years.
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] (middle) - Made the top 1000, debuting at 975! I actually predicted it would make it to the list back when the 2014 list came out, so I’m patting myself on the back.
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] - Moved up a few places, from 373 to 368. (My [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] was born just this past [name_f]February[/name_f], though, so she won’t be counted until next year’s list.)
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] (middle) - Four less Seraphines were born in 2015 (25) compared to 2014 (29).

So other than [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]‘s ascent to the big time, my kids’ names stayed relatively consistent!

(BTW, I’m predicting [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] will be on the list next year (for girls). I predicted [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] in 2014 and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] in 2015, so let’s see if the streak will continue!)

It looks about how I’d expect it to, babies seem to be generally well named these days.

Quick, touch wood!

I’m actually very pleased with the new top 10. [name_u]Harper[/name_u] isn’t my style, but it is very nice to see a top 10 without [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], and [name_u]Aiden[/name_u].

I was also pretty happy with the new list, and to see [name_u]Madison[/name_u] drop. I’m pretty indifferent about [name_u]Harper[/name_u], but I do like that each side of the top 10 has an occupation name. It makes it feel balanced to me for some reason.

I haven’t looked at the full list yet, but from first glance I’m a bit underwhelmed - looks a lot like 2014. All the names on my list are pretty much in the same spot.

I’m looking forward to seeing ranks when multiple spellings are combined. Here’s how a bunch of mine did, including GP:

[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] ↑ #221 in 2014 (1,518 births) to #209 in 2015 (1,545)
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] ↑ #584 (516) to #417 (761)
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] ↑ #647 (406) to #625 (425)
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m] ↑ #69 (6228) to #68 (5811): It’s interesting that the rank has increased, but there’s fewer with the name than in 2014
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] ↑ #974 (215) to #860 (260)
[name_m]Killian[/name_m] ↑ #511 (543) to #348 (968): huuuge jump. It did a similar big jump from 2013, so it looks like it might get pretty big soon
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] ↑ #24 (10,881) to #22 (10,782)
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] ↑ #116 (2,731) to #79 (3,613): another huge jump
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] ↑ #300 (1,078) to #256 (1,255)
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] ↑ #483 (648) to #450 (698)

[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] ↔ stayed at #31 although births did decrease from 9,938 to 9878

[name_m]Abram[/name_m] ↓ #377 (828) to #383 (831)
