3 days past due date and can't pick a name! help!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

So I am 3 days past my due date with my first child, a baby girl. I always thought I’d know the perfect name, but I keep changing my mind! I am trying to honor my father or grandmother who have both passed away, with either of their first initials, which are E and M. The only E name I like is [name_u]Eden[/name_u], however hubby doesn’t love it, but said at the end of the day if I love a name, I can have it. Would you use a name you know your husband was agreeing to just to make you happy? Then for M names, we have [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Makenna[/name_f], and [name_f]Mariah[/name_f].

For the past couple months we have been calling her [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. Nothing longer, just [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. We don’t like any of the long versions of the name. I love that it means “pearl,” and that we just feel like it’s a name that she could be either girly or a tomboy, but sounds like a fun, likeable girl.

With [name_f]Makenna[/name_f] I love that it means “happy one,” but I’m wonder if the whole “Mck/Mak” ship has sailed and it’s too overdone?

With [name_f]Mariah[/name_f], I have always thought it was a beautiful sounding name. One of the meanings I found meant “wished-for child,” and this baby took us a lot of effort and struggle to conceive, so it is suiting. Growing up on old-school [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] music, I used to love her, but these days the association with her doesn’t tickle me. But I feel once people saw a sweet little girl named [name_f]Mariah[/name_f], they’d forget about it.

So please tell me what order you like these names in, why you like them or don’t like them, and please help fast! Contractions have started! Thank you!

[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Makenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
???

In this situation I think I would choose [name_f]Maggie[/name_f].
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_f]Margot[/name_f]/[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]

First off, I think all your names are great. That being said, I would not use [name_u]Eden[/name_u] if your husband does not like it. It kind of sounds like you already know what you want to name her, [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. It is a really sweet name, and you seem to have an attachment to it, so I would definitely go with that.

Good luck btw!

It sounds to me like baby [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is due any day. Could [name_u]Eden[/name_u] be a middle name?

I say go with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. It’s cute and vintage nicknames are “in” right now, in the same vein as [name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], etc.

  1. [name_u]Eden[/name_u]
  2. [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Mckenna[/name_f]

I think you’ve already made up your mind, but if you need further swaying I say go with beautiful baby [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. Congratulations!

I agree you’ve subconsciously already made up your mind with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. Maybe [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] would be a combo you could use?

Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

I would also go for [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. No longer name required. You’re right the name is just happy. Not too girly but still sweet. I think [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is lovely but I wouldn’t use [name_u]Eden[/name_u] unless hubby was truly on board.

[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Makenna[/name_f]

[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is adorable! It’s the best by far imo.

I like [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] best followed by [name_f]Mariah[/name_f].

[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is adorable and a lovely name. If you really don’t want a longer name but are worried about the nickname look, you might consider [name_f]Meg[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f].
[name_f]Mariah[/name_f] is very pretty and I agree the association would fade once people knew her. I’ve had [name_f]Moriah[/name_f] on my list for a while, but I think [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] has a better chance of being spelled correctly.
