3 First Names or 2 Middle Names?

Pray tell me…WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

3 First Names + Surname

First Name + Middle Name + Middle Name +Surname

Can you abstain from having a middle name if you have 3 first names?

By the way, neither of the middle names is my maiden name.

I’ve been confused since yesterday and it would be a great help if someone enlightened me on the situation. faints

Thanks, Berries!!

I haven’t heard of anyone having three first names. I’ve seen two first names like [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_m]Luc[/name_m] or [name_f]AnnaBeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f].

Yea, I’m not quite sure what you mean because I’ve never seen or heard of someone with three first names. On birth certificates it asks for first, middle, and last so unless they put all names in the first name section, they are middle names.

The difference between the two here is if you were to give a child 3 first names, all 3 names would appear on documents, paperwork, mail etc. alongside the last name, which could get very crowded.
With two middle names, the middles often won’t need to be included on paperwork, or just the middle initials will be used. This way there are fewer instances where all the names would need to be written out or printed on documentation.
