3 weeks away and it's between Theo, Tobias, and Max...Help!

[name]Just[/name] looking for general thoughts on any of these or all of these or your favorites and why. Somehow I like these all but none sticks out for any lengthy period, so I need help!

The last name is Jewish sounding and somewhat long. I’m not too too worried about flow since I think my last name is a little odd anyway. [name]Just[/name] looking for a good first name.

[name]Max[/name] is my favourite! I prefer [name]Theo[/name] as a nickname for [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Tobias[/name] always make me think of [name]Tobias[/name] Funke from Arrested Development.

I would go with [name]Tobias[/name] because [name]IMO[/name], it’s the most versatile. I love nicknames, and [name]Tobias[/name] has a very playful one in [name]Toby[/name]. But it also has the stronger, more distinguished full name [name]Tobias[/name].
[name]Theodore[/name] is such a handsome, graceful name. [name]Do[/name] you dislike it as a way to get to [name]Theo[/name]? I guess there’s also [name]Mattheo[/name], [name]Timothy[/name], [name]Teodor[/name]…
And with [name]Max[/name], there’s [name]Maxwell[/name], [name]Maxfield[/name], [name]Maximillian[/name]

I love [name]Max[/name]! It’s such a friendly and strong name. And as the previous poster mentioned, there are numerous longer variations to choose from (although I think [name]Max[/name] can stand alone).

[name]Theo[/name] - I love this name (biased because it is my 1 month old’s name) but I have no regrets (even when people ask his name and then don’t comment on it) haha. We love it!

[name]Tobias[/name] - I really like [name]Tobias[/name]. A good friend of mine has a son named [name]Tobias[/name], they call him [name]Toby[/name] almost all the time. I think it’s a very cute nickname. I definitely don’t hear this name being used a lot.

[name]Max[/name] - I think this is great as a stand-alone name, although I slightly prefer [name]Maxwell[/name] with nn [name]Max[/name].

I like all of your names but if I had to choose I would rate them as follows.

1 [name]Tobias[/name] - spunky and versatile with a cute nn [name]Toby[/name]
2 [name]Theo[/name] - This is one of the few “nicknames” I like as a full name. Is [name]Theodore[/name] too long with your surname?
3 [name]Max[/name] - A fine name but I prefer it as a nn for [name]Maxwell[/name]. [name]Max[/name] is the most popular of these names (it was No# 96 last year in the US).

My favorite is [name]Theodore[/name], partly due to nn potential & partly due to the meaning (gift of God)
[name]Tobias[/name] also has a good meaning (God is good) & is more unique, but I’m not a fan of “[name]Toby[/name]”
[name]Max[/name] sounds like a nn to me, & I’m not a fan of the longer names… The meaning of the name may be an ego boost for your little one one day though

I like [name]Theo[/name]. [name]Tobias[/name] has always rubbed me the wrong way and (at least in my circle) [name]Max[/name] is overdone. Congrats!

I love [name]Tobias[/name]! [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Max[/name] just don’t do anything for me.

[name]Tobias[/name] is my favorite, hands down. I actually sometimes hate my [name]BIL[/name]/[name]SIL[/name] for using this name for their dog, as it takes the name out of the running for our children! [name]Theo[/name] is a favorite as well, though I prefer it as a nn for [name]Theodore[/name] or [name]Theomund[/name] ([name]Theon[/name] makes a nice, complete name as well). [name]Max[/name] is nice but it’s everywhere I turn these days

I like [name]Tobias[/name] the best as well.

I know a mischievous little 2 year old named [name]Tobias[/name] ([name]Toby[/name]) and it really suits him. Great name!

I think that [name]Max[/name] is a little overused, but it will always be a cute name. I would go with [name]Tobias[/name] personally. I met a cool [name]German[/name] exchange student named [name]Tobias[/name]; it seems really original, though it’s nickname [name]Toby[/name] is becoming really popular. As for [name]Theo[/name], I think it’s absolutely adorable. It really depends what you’re into I guess, but now I think I like [name]Theo[/name] best? Haha if it’s just [name]Theo[/name] though, [name]Theodore[/name] would sound like the chipmunk…

[name]Love[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]/[name]Theo[/name]–would definitely go for the full name, very distinguished. [name]Theo[/name] is a great nickname.

[name]Tobias[/name]–very nice as well, not quite as stately as [name]Theodore[/name].

[name]Max[/name]–begs for more, a nice nickname.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone! Was thinking of just using the short forms of [name]Max[/name] and [name]Theo[/name] for the entire name as I don’t love the longer versions/options. For [name]Tobias[/name], funnily enough, was going to go with that with the possible nicknames of [name]Ty[/name] or [name]Beau[/name] instead of [name]Toby[/name]. The other name on the list is [name]William[/name]. I know a lot of people said [name]Max[/name] was popular ([name]Do[/name] I add up the rankings for [name]Max[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name], and [name]Maximus[/name] etc. to try to decipher its real popularity ranking in the US) but it can’t be as popular as [name]William[/name]. I think [name]William[/name], though, is saved because it is so classic. Any combos of these names (and maybe [name]Henry[/name]) that make for good first/middle name combos?

Oh and I too like [name]Tobias[/name] for its versatility and that it is unusual but also familiar, but [name]Max[/name] and [name]Theo[/name] for their directness and simplicity and strength (combined with a longish last name).

I like [name]Tobias[/name] because it’s more unusual (and I like the nn [name]Toby[/name])-- my second choice would be [name]Theo[/name].
