Hello All,
I joined this forum for advice on a diet I just started a week ago. Im doing a Low Oxalate diet due to having three kidney stones removed three months ago. Yesterday I found out that I was preggers with a pee stick in a Walgreens bathroom…funny story. Anyway, I googled “low oxalate diet during pregnancy” and found this site <http://nutritionforpregnancy.com/>. One, I had no idea that this diet was connected with help to autism, Two, this diet is very frustrating since there seems to be a great deal of conflicting food lists and differing oxalate levels with those lists.
Anyway, my question is, does anyone on this forum know about this diet, and does anyone think that the site I posted is legit?
Also, I’m 33 and this is my first pregnancy…so I’m super excited, nervous, and just want be be healthy for the baby.
Thanks for any advice!

Congratulations!
I don’t really know anything about low oxalate diets, but I have some recommendations about how to get accurate health info from Google! I’m a nurse so I’m always trying to steer patients and families in a safe direction so they don’t get a ton of misinformation!
Searches using Google Scholar tend to give the most accurate results, but you stil need to be discerning. Look for government-backed or university accredited sites that offer peer-reviewed research studies to back up their claims to ensure you get the best possible information. A couple to get you started:
As always, it is best to speak to your own medical professional about dietary changes and recommendations, as you may not be a “typical” patient, especially since you are expecting!
I agree with pp and you should speak with your OB about your diet. Women who are pregnant are known to get more kidney stones and gallstones. I’m not sure what type of diet this is, but I’m sure if you describe it to your provider they will be able to give you insite about whether or not it is healthy for you and baby while pregnant.
The pregnancy hormones may also be having an effect on you, so don’t be surprised if you feel tired and weepy. During the day, you may feel exhausted and struggle to stay awake. This is because your body is preparing itself to support your baby. [name_u]Read[/name_u] more here: 3 Weeks Pregnant – Signs, Symptoms, and Embryo - MotherHow
This sounds like a question for your doctor.
