33 weeks and still no name, help! Danae or Claire?

I think my husband and I have narrowed our list down to two names (though that could change) but can’t agree on which one. He has been in love with claire from the begining, while I thought it was pretty but too overused. [name_u]Clair[/name_u] de [name_f]Lune[/name_f] was the song my husband walked down the isle to and the baby was conceived on our wedding night, so I like that it has a personal tie but it still seems overused. [name_f]Danae[/name_f] is also personal though as its origins are Greek as am I, and only a few letters of from [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. I would be willing to use danae as a middle name but we both don’t want claire for the middle. So please vote but also tell me how you picked! Also suggestions for [name_f]Danae[/name_f]'s middle name would be great

I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and the meaning it has to you is very sweet, but I’d be so happy to meet a baby [name_f]Danae[/name_f]! It’s beautiful and also meaningful to you. I’d choose [name_f]Danae[/name_f].

Middle name suggestions (I don’t know what kind of middles you like so these are off the top of my head):

[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Gaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f]/[name_f]Freja[/name_f]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Undine[/name_f]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]

I would choose [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. It has personal sentiment and is a timeless, beautiful name. If I met a baby named [name_f]Claire[/name_f] I would be very pleasantly surprised. In my whole life I don’t think I have actually met a [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. Strange. [name_f]Danae[/name_f], in my opinion, is quite dated. If you love both names I think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Danae[/name_f] is a nice combo.

Between [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Danae[/name_f], I would pick [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. I like the personal ties to the wedding song and the sound of [name_f]Claire[/name_f] better than [name_f]Danae[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the name [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]? It has Greek etymology and is similar to [name_m]Daniel[/name_m].

Good luck!

I think [name_f]Danae[/name_f] sounds boyish to me so i’d choose [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. I prefer the spelling [name_u]Clare[/name_u] though.

I’d choose [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. I’ve only ever met one [name_f]Claire[/name_f] so I wouldn’t think of it as an overused name. [name_f]Danae[/name_f] seems quite tomboyish to me.

[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Danae[/name_f]! It’s a lovely combo and you get both the names you love and have special meaning to you. Overall win.

I prefer [name_f]Claire[/name_f]!

I prefer [name_f]Claire[/name_f] too. Not really a fan of [name_f]Danae[/name_f] sorry. [name_u]Dana[/name_u] and [name_f]Danielle[/name_f], [name_f]Daniella[/name_f] are other options maybe?

I like [name_f]Danae[/name_f], but prefer the Danais spelling, and I think it holds up better in the mid spot. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] Danais?

even though it is popular.

I like how [name_f]Danae[/name_f] looks better than how she sounds. I like [name_f]Danika[/name_f] better or [name_u]Damaris[/name_u].

But either are fine.

Well, he loves [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and you love [name_f]Danae[/name_f]. Neither of you wants [name_f]Claire[/name_f] as the middle, but you’re both of with [name_f]Danae[/name_f] in the middle. So [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Danae[/name_f] would be my choice!

[name_f]IMO[/name_f], [name_f]Danae[/name_f] is too close to [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. Would you name your next child (if you have one) [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] to honour you more?

Suggestions:

[name_f]Danika[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] - I know you said you don’t want [name_f]Claire[/name_f] as the middle, but to me, a name with deep meaning is meant for the middle. And [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is pretty and works in the middle. Use it there!

I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f] so much! I would choose that. If you are worried about it being too popular, how about [name_f]Clara[/name_f]?

[name_f]Claire[/name_f] is lovely! I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] by a pp. [name_f]Danae[/name_f] seems boyish and probably would never be spelled right.

I like [name_f]Danae[/name_f] better by far. [name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_u]Clair[/name_u] would be cute, though, if you weren’t opposed to it. Have you considered [name_f]Lune[/name_f]/[name_f]Luna[/name_f] et.al. for either a middle or first name to get [name_f]Claire[/name_f]'s significance?

Yes! I was just about to suggest [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Danae[/name_f]. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is beautiful, but I agree that it seems a bit overused – but not horribly so, so I’m not sure that’s a deal breaker. I still love [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. But if you want to stay away from [name_f]Claire[/name_f] I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] has all its charm and is more unique

[name_f]Claire[/name_f]! You can never go wrong with a classic name

I love the idea of using [name_f]Lune[/name_f] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f] to honour your wedding song!

I vote for [name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f], so beautiful and unique. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is nice too, and I also like [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Danae[/name_f]. You really can’t go wrong

I love [name_f]Danae[/name_f], it’s much more fresh than [name_f]Claire[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Danae[/name_f] sounds dated and honestly a little low class. That may be a regional thing though. I think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] on the other hand is lovely and timeless and sophisticated. You couldn’t go wrong naming her [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
