33 weeks and still not settled on boy name

I am pregnant with our 4th child (one bio, two adopted, now another bio). We struggle with boy names.

Our naming theme has been 1920’s, musical influence. Our children are called:
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] “[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]”
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]

We are considering [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] (as in [name_m]Duke[/name_m] [name_u]Ellington[/name_u]) for this baby. Two tough questions though… 1) good nicknames for [name_u]Ellington[/name_u], ([name_f]Ell[/name_f]/L, [name_m]Eli[/name_m], others?) 2) Middle name that goes with it. I was looking for one syllable ([name_u]Shay[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], others?) vs something that emphasized my Italian heritage ([name_m]Matteo[/name_m]?)

Look forward to your thoughts…

I like [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] but don’t really feel like there are many nickname options. If you wanted a shorter but similar name, what about [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]? or [name_u]Ellison[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Ellis[/name_u])? [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]?

One syllable middles:
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]

Italian:
[name_m]Matteo[/name_m]
[name_m]Alessandro[/name_m]
[name_m]Dario[/name_m]
[name_m]Gianni[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonardo[/name_m]
[name_u]Nico[/name_u]
[name_m]Luciano[/name_m]
[name_m]Renzo[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Salvatore[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincenzo[/name_m]

I really like [name_u]Ellington[/name_u], but I agree there’s not many nn options. Maybe [name_m]Elton[/name_m]?

Are you open to other first names?:
[name_m]Morrison[/name_m]
[name_m]Hamilton[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Edison[/name_m]
Carrington
[name_m]Wellington[/name_m] (very similar, nn [name_m]Wells[/name_m]?)

Middle names:
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Lance[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]Paulo[/name_m]
[name_m]Felipe[/name_m]
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m]
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_u]Andre[/name_u]
[name_m]Clyde[/name_m]

I am hearing lots of kids with surname names at my daughter’s preschool who do not use nicknames ([name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], etc). In fact, there is a girl named [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] who goes by the full name, even though there would be presumably more options for girl nicknames. Maybe this will change as kids get older? Or their generation will just have a different standard?

I think [name_m]Eli[/name_m] is a great nickname option, but has a different vibe than [name_u]Ellington[/name_u], especially if you are going for a musical theme, so would try to reinforce the full name if you can!
