So I posted here a couple of weeks ago and got some great feedback but hubby and I are still very stuck. I’m starting to panic a little bit because it’s so different from how things went last time. We easily picked 3 names, went to the hospital, met our daughter and knew she was meant to be an [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f]. That was that. This time is going the opposite direction - and I’m really worried I’m going to end up with name regret if we don’t figure something out soon.
Anyway, since this site is crawling with brilliant name artists, I figured I have to ask here. One idea we have is to name [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Girl #2 after my husbands’ 2 sisters. But we don’t want to use their actual names, we want to be more creative and modern about it. I tried the old “baby name scrambler” that anagrams the letters but nothing we love comes out of that. So I’m really stuck for how else to go about it? Maybe there is no other way, I dunno. But I’m desperate enough to ask!
So the names are [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and Tineke. When we anagram the letters, the only 2 even remotely usable options are [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] and [name_f]Kelsi[/name_f] - and we’re not in love with either of those. So anyway, if anyone here has any ideas, suggestions, whatever, I (we) will so appreciate it. Thanks so much for reading!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Congrats on baby #2! Here are some of my thoughts for you:
For something similar to [name_f]Elise[/name_f]:
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Elissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisa[/name_f]
For something similar to Tineke:
(I thought for this since Tineke is such a unique name you could do something hyphenated or something with a T & K name!)
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]
[name_f]Tina[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]
[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]/[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u]
[name_f]Tira[/name_f] [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps some! Good luck and wish you well!
I love [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], but I understand it might not be your taste [name_f]Elise[/name_f] comes from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and Tineke is a diminutive of [name_f]Tina[/name_f], so names off of those trees could work. Other ideas (using behindthename):
[name_f]Eileen[/name_f] (that’s the best I could do combining both and I think it would sound great in a sibset)
[name_f]Elke[/name_f]
[name_f]Lieke[/name_f]
[name_f]Silke[/name_f]
Telise (place name)
The first name smoosh that came to mind to honor the aunts of [name_u]Baby[/name_u] #2 is [name_f]Etta[/name_f], taking the E from [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and the T from Tineke. Middle names could honor other family members or just be a name you love.
I love the sibset of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f]!
What about just having the initials be T. E.? (I would say E.T., but…) It might be easier finding an E name and a T name you like rather than a smoosh of sorts. The only smoosh I could think of is [name_f]Talisa[/name_f].
In playing around with the syllables from [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and Tineke, I came up with two ideas:
[name_f]Elektra[/name_f] is my favorite. It means “shining, bright,” and it has many of the same sounds as [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and Tineke. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Elektra[/name_f] have the same ending sound, and [name_f]Elektra[/name_f] could be shortened to [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a nn. [name_f]Electra[/name_f] is a tragic character, but then, so is [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], and plenty of people use that name.
The other option I thought of is Eltin- an alternative spelling of [name_m]Elton[/name_m], which I hate for a boy, but rather like for a girl.
I could not think of a good combination of those two names! I like the suggestion of trying to come up with names for initials E & T. That might be an easier way to find a name that you really like and that goes nicely with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], which is a beautiful name!
I think this idea from Peacebird is EXCELLENT! My own thought was that you could scramble the two Names separately (adding or subtracting a letter as needed) and used one as a First Name and the other as a Middle Name. For example:
What about using the ‘[name_f]Tine[/name_f]’ from tineke
Example: [name_f]Christine[/name_f]
And since [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is a diminutive of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] there are so many options there…
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]?
I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], or Elkie could be cute to honor [name_f]Elise[/name_f], and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] go pretty well together. Tineke is harder, but one scramble that could work is Kitene. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Kitene sound like sisters to me!
Tineke’s tricky, but I love [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] as a twist on [name_f]Elise[/name_f]! You could even call her [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], like some other berries are suggesting.
Wonderful idea of [name_f]Etta[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Etta[/name_f] are perfection together.
Congrats on baby girl #2! [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and Tineke, hmmm…
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] means “pledged to God”, it is also a diminutive form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
Tineke is a form of [name_f]Tina[/name_f], and [name_f]Tina[/name_f] is a diminutive form of [name_f]Christina[/name_f]. [name_f]Christina[/name_f] means “a [name_m]Christian[/name_m].”
For [name_f]Elise[/name_f] I searched “Pledged to God”, [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and [name_f]El[/name_f]-. This is what I found:
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u]
[name_f]Ciel[/name_f]
[name_f]Effie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Elin[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elke[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] / [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
For Tineke I searched [name_f]Tina[/name_f], [name_f]Christina[/name_f], “a [name_m]Christian[/name_m]”, T-, and tin within names. This is what I found:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Augustina[/name_f]
[name_m]Augustine[/name_m]
[name_f]Christen[/name_f]
[name_f]Christina[/name_f]
[name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Justina[/name_f]
[name_f]Justine[/name_f]
[name_f]Kristen[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tinley[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
So after all of that, my favorites are [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] and…
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Justine[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
My #1 vote is for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] & [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]. [name_f]Christine[/name_f] is also your name too which makes it even better
