I’m relatively new to nameberry (this is only my second post), but I find that the advice given on these boards is usually spot-on and I could really use some help! I’m due with my second (team green) in 4 weeks(!) and we’ve really struggled with names this time around. The suggestions I got on my last post were great but nothing really fit. My almost-3yo is [name]Elias[/name] Tadeusz- a name that suits him perfectly (Tadeusz being a Polish family name).
The one boy-name that has caught my attention recently is [name]Hugo[/name]… but I don’t know if I love it. Is it too nerdy? Is there too much potential for teasing? Is it too much of a mouthful (if that makes any sense)? If we do decide to go with it, his name would be [name]Hugo[/name] Lukasz (Polish for [name]Luke[/name]/[name]Lucas[/name]) last name starts with F and rhymes with better).
So I guess what I’m asking is:
What are your thoughts on [name]Hugo[/name]?
Does it go well with [name]Elias[/name]?
What other suggestions do you have? We still want more first names to take to the hospital (middle name, Lukasz, is not set in stone either), so please, throw all your ideas at me!
If it helps, the 2 main contenders for girl-names are [name]Sabine[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name].

I think [name]Hugo[/name] is a fantastic name, with a fantastic meaning, and I think it would accompany [name]Elias[/name] fantastically (a different ‘style’, but work well next to each other). [name]Hugo[/name] Lukasz is a fantastic combo.
Some other first name suggestions:
[name]Lucas[/name]/Lukasz (if your considering it as a MN, what about as a FN?-- or one of the other names that sounds similar to it-- [name]Lucian[/name], [name]Lucius[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Lucan[/name], etc)
[name]How[/name] could [name]Hugo[/name] be thought of as nerdy? It’s a very strong name yet has a romantic vibe. [name]Elias[/name] & [name]Hugo[/name] make a great pair and Lukasz is a great mn
I like [name]Elias[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] together, they make a terrific sibset! I definitely do not think it’s too much of a mouthful or that it is nerdy.
Thank you all very much for the feedback! I’m starting to feel like [name]Hugo[/name] could be the name… maybe. What I really need to do is say it aloud more to get a better feel for how it sounds. Does anyone know of any nicknames there are out there for [name]Hugo[/name]? The only one I can think of off the top of my head is [name]Hugh[/name].
Thank you, Javad, for the other suggestions. I’ve always loved the name [name]Luke[/name] but I don’t love it’s popularity (In fact, [name]Elias[/name] was almost a [name]Luke[/name]). I’ve never given much thought to [name]Lucian[/name], but now that you have mentioned it, I do rather like it. I also like [name]Olin[/name] and [name]Owen[/name]. I’m going to have to play around with these.
I would still love to get more suggestions if anyone has any other ideas for a good name for [name]Elias[/name]’ possible brother! Ideally I would like to have 3 boy-names to take to the hospital so my husband and I can make our decision after seeing the little one:)

I adore [name]Hugo[/name]. It’s one of my favorite boy names, though the OH has nixed it. I think the nn [name]Hugh[/name] is cute. I also thought we could use [name]Huck[/name]- which is kind of stretch, but I like it. I also really love one of your girl choices- [name]Sabine[/name] is gorgeous!

Though we’ve been focusing on [name]Hugo[/name], I’ve also been thinking of other names from our list:

Does anyone have any thoughts on how these measure up against [name]Hugo[/name]? [name]How[/name] they sound with [name]Elias[/name]? With Lukasz as a mn? I am so indecisive and I just want to keep my options open.
From your list I think [name]Jude[/name] matches best with [name]Elias[/name] although I think they all could work. Well except maybe Emeric because of the E, but it isn’t a big deal. However [name]Jude[/name] Lukasz doesn’t sound as nice to me as something with a few more syllables up front, ie [name]Oliver[/name] Lukasz or [name]Sebastian[/name] Lukasz. For me the flow of the overall name is more important than matching siblings perfectly. I think [name]Hugo[/name] Lukasz, [name]Oliver[/name] Lukasz, or [name]Sebastian[/name] Lukasz would be my picks but I am a bit biased because one of my best friends has twins named [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Lukas[/name] and my twins are [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Luke[/name].
