I’d appreciate boy name suggestions for our mystery gender baby! We have a girl first name chosen, and probably a middle, but nothing for a boy!
We have a little boy already, his name is [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] [name_u]Jesse[/name_u]. His first name was inspired by Tolkien’s hobbit character as well as its meaning: pilgrim or sojourner. His middle name was chosen for its Biblical ties.
Yes, we are Christians and having the name connect to our faith is important to us, though the association can be somewhat loose. Nature names really appeal to me and names that are unique but not crazy. No matter how much I might love it, I won’t choose anything that’s very common.
For about two days I was sure this little one would be named [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] if he was a boy but that was awhile ago and I’m just not sure anymore.
Our last name has two syllables and ends in -er so that does eliminate some great names.
I like our boys to have a biblical/[name_m]Christian[/name_m] tie in their names as well… so far they’ve landed in the MN spot. I’ve been really loving [name_u]Jesse[/name_u], too.
My first thought was [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m], but that’s out because of your last name.
Second thought is a little strange, but it’s [name_f]Peridot[/name_f]… I might be being influenced by your “team green” comment, though.
Other nature themed ideas:
[name_m]Horatio[/name_m] (time / season)
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u] (if you don’t see it as a girl’s only name)
[name_u]Bradley[/name_u] (broad clearing)
[name_m]Brock[/name_m] (badger)
[name_m]Ridge[/name_m]
[name_m]Rocco[/name_m]
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u] (leader; not exactly a place name but goes with your ‘traveler’?)’
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] (fire; [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] is a cute nn)
[name_m]Neville[/name_m] (new town…also kind of cool with your traveler)
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] (wine’s town)
[name_u]Douglas[/name_u] (dark river)
Cullum (dove)
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] (gravelly homestead)
[name_m]Keith[/name_m] (wood)
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m] (loves horses)
Some Biblical MN ideas that aren’t always first to mind:
Tishbe (birthplace of [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] the Prophet)
[name_m]Titus[/name_m]
[name_m]Amos[/name_m]
[name_m]Sean[/name_m] (form of [name_m]John[/name_m]?)
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
[name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] (fruitful… could be on the list above, too ”)
Some biblical suggestions:
Arihel (Gods support)
[name_m]Gilad[/name_m] ([name_m]Hill[/name_m] of witness)
[name_m]Abner[/name_m] (commander of [name_m]Saul[/name_m]'s army)
[name_m]Amos[/name_m] (Carried by God)
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] (Old testament judge)
[name_u]Elon[/name_u] (oak tree- biblical)
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] (behold a son)
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] (like the sun)
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] (like God)
Nature names:
Barrow (living by a grove)
[name_m]Dagwood[/name_m] (shining forest, beautiful meaning but heavy name?)
[name_m]Ellwood[/name_m] (elder wood)
[name_m]Haywood[/name_m] (enclosed wood)
[name_m]Pembroke[/name_m] (high land)
[name_m]Quill[/name_m] (from the woods)
[name_m]Conan[/name_m] (little wolf)
[name_u]Auberon[/name_u] (bearlike)
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u] (bear strength)
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] (dove, biblical bonus!)
[name_m]Raul[/name_m]/ [name_m]Raoul[/name_m] (wold council)
My favourite overall combo is [name_m]Amos[/name_m] [name_m]Samson[/name_m] because of the Biblical, travelling and nature ties!! I think it sounds nice with your other son’s name as well. Second is [name_u]Elon[/name_u] [name_m]Quill[/name_m]!
First thought was [name_u]River[/name_u], or [name_m]Forrest[/name_m]. Both great different but not too different nature names. [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] also comes to mind, a nice link to your faith, but not over the top. [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] also fits the trend of occupation names so it sounds contemporary but not trendy. A would also consider [name_u]Cedar[/name_u].
Other thoughts are [name_m]Abel[/name_m], or [name_m]Abram[/name_m]. Both seem like they would go well with a [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m]. [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] (meaning follower of the dove) would also make a nice Sibset.
Thank you for the suggestions everyone! There are a few in there that we’ve been talking over. I especially like the suggestion of [name_u]Cedar[/name_u], though not because we can use it. One of my best friends, whose name preferences are similar to ours, has a [name_u]Cedar[/name_u]. Definitely up our alley.
Hello all, thank you again for your awesome suggestions. Here’s my shortlist thus far. I’m still very open to more first names as well as middles.
First names:
[name_m]Arrow[/name_m] (still probably my #1)
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] (I feel that this would need a nickname but I’m not into [name_m]Iggy[/name_m])
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m]
Middle names:
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] (love it but it’s becoming pretty popular so middle name status only for me)
Our last name starts with an “s” so I’m not the hugest fan of names that end in “s” but it’s not a deal-breaker.
Any opinions and/or additions would be much appreciated! A little refresher, we have a son named [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] [name_u]Jesse[/name_u].
Thanks! 38+1 today and I’m happy that progress is being made on a boy name.
I’m in the same situation as you, still looking for a boys name with only a few days to go! Our last name also ends with -er and it two syllables. I also love [name_u]Elias[/name_u], but it’s a common surname here so we are going with [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] (unless I’m suddenly struck with another name) I think it will be [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] or [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_m]Gage[/name_m].
For a religious name I think you can choose any word that has meaning or an interpretation to you. My DS1’s mn is [name_u]Grey[/name_u], which we chose because it reminds us of a solid rock and strength. DS2’s mn is [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] which we chose because we love the book “[name_m]Wild[/name_m] at Heart” and the adventure that God wants men to live. (great read ;)) So an [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is basically a map of the world and the adventure we want him to live for God. If this baby is a boy [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] again references the same book.
