38 weeks pregnant, help picking!

First time mom here, I’m due anytime in the next couple of weeks and trying to narrow down to a list of maybe 2-4 names and then possibly choosing one of them after we see/meet her.

Our surname is very common (Walters) and we like unique names that aren’t weird or hard to spell.

One of the first names we thought of months ago is Senga–Agnes is a family name in his Scottish family. But we are thinking it might be a little too ‘weird’ as a first name so maybe a better choice for a middle name? I’m just not sure I love it with either of our top picks for first name.

Our top two first name picks right now are [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] (family name) and he likes [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. But I haven’t found any middle names I really love for either of those. You’ll see a lot of repetition here on middle names but if there’s any other middles you like better for [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] or [name_f]Olive[/name_f] please make suggestions! [name_u]Or[/name_u] if you have a middle name that would go with [name_f]Senga[/name_f] as a first name (or a first name that would go better with [name_f]Senga[/name_f] as a middle!)

Here’s the list, opinions or other ideas please!

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Senga[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Kaede[/name_u]

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Senga[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Mei[/name_f] (or Maeve)
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Kaede[/name_u]

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], if you’re open to using it instead of the inverse. I also think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is very pretty.

What about [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Senga[/name_f]?

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f].

Good luck!

Congratulations and best wishes for the coming weeks! You have some great choices there! I particularly like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Senga[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Senga[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] main worries for names like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] are that although they are absolutely stunning, they are not necessarily unique enough if you indicate that’s what you both like. [name_f]Senga[/name_f] is a name I had never heard of before, so it definitely rings as unique to me!

In terms of Scottish, I am also thinking…
[name_f]Iona[/name_f]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] - also a good middle name option since it on first hearing it doesn’t sound quite as unique, in that sense there is also [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lileas[/name_f]
[name_f]Marsaili[/name_f] is a personal fave, but is perhaps slightly less intuitive
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]

Other suggestions
[name_f]Saga[/name_f] - of Norse/Scandinavian origin
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f] - same root as [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] I believe
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u]
[name_f]Ronia[/name_f]

Combos:
[name_f]Senga[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] W
[name_f]Senga[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] W
[name_f]Senga[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] W - that spells sew…
[name_f]Senga[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] W
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Senga[/name_f] W

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] W
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] W

I do notice that with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], running into your surname, especially in that first name spot, might get a bit ‘w’ heavy if that’s something that you could be concerned with. I myself am not a native speaker of [name_f]English[/name_f] though which makes it slightly more troublesome for me, so it might be something you have no issue with even just subjectively.

I really love [name_f]Olive[/name_f] from your list. It flows very well with surname. [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is beautiful. I see you like the “May” names, what about [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f]?

I really like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Senga[/name_f]! [name_f]Olive[/name_f] sounds great with your surname. (Using [name_f]Olive[/name_f] would make the initials OW - not that that’s awful or anything, just thought I’d point it out but it depends how much initials bother you)

I like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Kaede[/name_u] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Kaede[/name_u] but [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] would be so cute!

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Senga[/name_f] are gorgeous!

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Kaede[/name_u], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] came to mind

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites out of your options are [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Kaede[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u].

  • However, if you are looking for a more unique name, I feel that Olivia/Olive/Oliver, [name_f]Eva[/name_f], and [name_f]Freya[/name_f], may not be the best options since they are all booming at the moment and she’ll probably have multiple people around her age group with the same name.
  • I really love @Han2.0 ’s suggestion of [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], especially with [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_u]Kade[/name_u]. Other suggestions I’d have would be [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_f]Senga[/name_f] W, [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], and [name_u]Adair[/name_u]. hope this helps <3

I just love [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. Both were high on my list for my daughter. I think [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Mei[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] are gorgeous, although I don’t love the flow of [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (the two vowels sort of run into each other for me). I think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] would be lovely, or something like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] or [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I also really like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].

One thing I started thinking about more today was just saying first and last name together out loud because that’s how she’ll be known almost all the time (vs focusing so much on the middle name flow). It has to flow both with and without the middle name! In that sense [name_f]Olive[/name_f] flows off the tongue slightly easier but I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] isn’t bad.

I love both of these!

Personally, really like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. The middle names I would suggest are [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]. You could also go with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] which is very close to your top two names.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u].

I also suggest:
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Mei[/name_f] (bias as [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is my daughter’s name  )

Olive is so cute. I like Olive Agnes, personally! Olive Juniper is cute, and I also love Freya Olivia! Baby will have a beautiful name given all these options. xx

How attached are you to [name_f]Senga[/name_f]? Because I find it slightly weird and likely to be misspelled which I thought you wanted to avoid. (It also sounds African to me but that might just be me!) I would keep it in the middle if you like it a lot.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite of your combos are
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]

I especially think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is so cute because her initials would be ROW!

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] would be nice too.

Maybe you like [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] or [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]? These both have nature vibes, not too girly and remind me of [name_f]Senga[/name_f] but are more popular/familiar names.

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] or [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] maybe?

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] girl is actually here already! We are getting close to deciding now that we’ve met her. Her first name is going to be [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and middle [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]!

There’s no contest for me. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is the most beautiful. How lyrical! Almost operatic.
