39 wks! Is Liliana too close to Laila?

After changing our minds a few times I think we have decided on [name]Liliana[/name] [name]Mae[/name], nn [name]Lily[/name], for our 2nd daughter. I just need some outside opinions to make sure its not too close to sister [name]Laila[/name]. I wasnt planning on using another “L” name, but at this point I am just happy to have come to an agreement with my husband:) Thank you!

Edited for privacy.

Hm, they are really similar, but I agree with the pp that if you really love it, go ahead and use it. If you were going to call her [name]Liliana[/name], it would be less similar of course. I like [name]Lillian[/name] too; what about [name]Eliana[/name]? I don’t love it near as much as [name]Lillian[/name] or [name]Liliana[/name] personally, but a lot of other people seem to love it.

[name]Liliana[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is adorable! I’ve always loved [name]Leila[/name] (which I say like [name]Laila[/name]) and [name]Liliana[/name], and I had always thought I would use one or the other. Since [name]Liliana[/name] means more to me personally, I’ve always thought [name]Leila[/name] would be the one I’d have to let go. They are quite similar, but if it’s really the only name you can agree on, I don’t think it’s terrible. I, too, prefer the nn [name]Lily[/name], but have you considered [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Annie[/name] as a nn instead? It would differentiate the girls more.

Good luck!

I don’t think their too close. Very pretty sibset.

I think they are very similar :frowning: I agree with @ashthedreamer though that if you would use a different NN besides [name]Lily[/name], like [name]Anna[/name], or [name]Anne[/name] that it might differentiate them a little more. Does [name]Leila[/name] go by a NN, that could also help make the difference?

Short answer is at 39 weeks if this is the one you love. Keep it and use it. It’s not too close as to be weird, it’s just very similar illiteration. There are many people who do this on purpose with siblings.
[name]Say[/name] the two girls names 20 times out loud. Now pretend call them together 10 times. [name]How[/name] do you feel? You ok? Then it’s all good.

I don’t think they sound too similar, but if you want do avoid two -a sounds at the end of each name then why not consider [name]Lillian[/name] / [name]Lilian[/name] instead of [name]Liliana[/name]?

Thank you all so much for your responses! My husband won’t go for [name]Lillian[/name] and doesnt care for [name]Anna[/name] as a nickname as we will be pronouncing it [name]Lili[/name]-[name]AH[/name]-na. I think we are just going to go with it though. I call my first daughter by so many other nicknames that I think it will be ok:) thank you all for your opinions!
