3rd boy. Can't decide on a name, 10.5 more weeks to go. Feeling frustated

HELLO!! We are expecting our third son this [name_f]October[/name_f]. I am having a HARD time figuring out his little one’s future name. My husband and I both love [name_m]Jayce[/name_m] and [name_u]Reece[/name_u]. But, with Duck Dynasty being such a hit now we are thinking of backing out on [name_m]Jayce[/name_m] and we can’t find anything! [name_u]Reece[/name_u] is adorable but the more people I tell the more reactions I get on “isn’t that a a girls name” ANY suggestions would be helpful for first and middle! I am just so over this name thing!! :expressionless:

Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to Nameberry!

[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] would be the best spelling for a male. It’s a Welsh name with depth and history. I’m not a fan of [name_m]Jayce[/name_m]/[name_u]Jace[/name_u]/[name_m]Jase[/name_m]. It just seems to lack substance. Perhaps if you give us your two son’s names we can give you some suggestions.

I wouldn’t think of [name_u]Reece[/name_u] as a girl’s name necessarily - it’s very unisex [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. [name_m]Jayce[/name_m] is NMS, but along that vein:
[name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Quin[/name_u]
Mox
[name_m]Bear[/name_m]

What are your older boys’ names? They might help in finding something that fits your style.
I like [name_u]Reece[/name_u] a lot more than [name_m]Jayce[/name_m], but I agree with you that it is more of a girls name in the U.S. You could also spell it [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] which, in my opinion, is a lot more masculine of a spelling.

Middle Names for [name_u]Reece[/name_u]:
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u]
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]

As far as Duck Dynasty, [name_m]Jase[/name_m]'s real name is [name_m]Jasen[/name_m]. Not sure if that helps. I think it is still pretty popular. I agree on wanting to know the other names to get a feel for your taste.

[name_u]Reece[/name_u] is SUCH a nice name, but like another poster I prefer the Welsh spelling [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. It reminds me of that gorgeous actor [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] Meyers :stuck_out_tongue: I also think it looks more masculine that way. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t let other people’s reactions to a name you really love stop you

Thank you all for contributing! My two older boys are [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and E.J (ethan [name_m]John[/name_m]) but we call him E.j. I have also been thinking [name_u]Camdyn[/name_u] but still 10 more weeks and I have no name. Thanks!

Oh and [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is one I have not ruled out.

[name_m]Asher[/name_m] is a good name with [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and E.J. If you’re going with [name_u]Camden[/name_u] I would spell it without a random “y” (for some reason, a lot of people tend to think that y’s “feminize” names and choose these spellings for girls). [name_u]Camden[/name_u] is unisex but be warned - very trendy.

Thanks [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]. I really am beginning to love [name_m]Asher[/name_m] maybe as a first name. Any suggestions for middle? I have been thinking of [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] but that doesn’t so much flow.

I love [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]! [name_m]Asher[/name_m] too!

With [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] “EJ” I think [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is a great fit.

I find it weird to see [name_u]Reece[/name_u] being called girly as in the UK it’s very masculine, but if you like the sound of the name I echo the posters who suggest the [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] spelling, it comes across as the most masculine of the spellings.

[name_u]Camdyn[/name_u] I find very trendy, moreso than any of the other names you’ve either used or are considering, and I’d advise against spelling it with a Y because it’s how people try to “feminise” unisex/masculine names - eg [name_u]Camryn[/name_u], [name_f]Emersyn[/name_f], [name_u]Jordyn[/name_u] etc. If you’re changing the spelling to avoid it being the same as the place name [name_u]Camden[/name_u] then [name_u]Camdon[/name_u] strikes me as a more masculine-looking vowel change.

[name_u]Jace[/name_u] etc I find very nicknamey, [name_m]Jason[/name_m] nn [name_u]Jace[/name_u] would be better but I think [name_m]Jason[/name_m] is considered very dated in the US. If you’ve got EJ from [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] you could get [name_u]Jace[/name_u] from a JC initial name just the same - it’s not completely out there.

Ok, what about [name_m]Cooper[/name_m]? [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]? [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] not as a first name.

I don’t think of [name_u]Reece[/name_u] as a girls name, mainly since its my brothers name. His name is [name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_m]Craig[/name_m]. His middle name is also my grandfathers middle name. So maybe you should pick something with family significance. I’m not a big fan of [name_m]Jayce[/name_m].

Suggestions:
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_m]Austin[/name_m]
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]

[name_m]Asher[/name_m] is also really cute with [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and EJ. [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_u]Reece[/name_u] is a cute name and you get to use both names you like.

From all of the names you’ve thrown out, [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] is my favorite in your sibset with [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] nn EJ. [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] would be my second choice. I also really like the name [name_m]Asher[/name_m], I just don’t think it “fits” quite as well with your other boys. Also, for what it’s worth, I think [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] sounds great.

I think [name_m]Asher[/name_m] and [name_u]Camden[/name_u] (please don’t spell it [name_u]Camdyn[/name_u]) work great with [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. So does [name_u]Reese[/name_u], and even though I like the spelling of [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u] (with an S, not a C) works great with [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], too. [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] to doo. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Drake[/name_m], and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] sound like British guys who are a hit with the ladies.

Here are my suggestions:
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_u]Camden[/name_u]
[name_u]Camden[/name_u] [name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_u]Camden[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Camden[/name_u] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Camden[/name_u] [name_u]Jace[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Camden[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Jace[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]

I think [name_m]Asher[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] are the best first names.

Here are ones I think are totally awkward to say (and I don’t think you should do as combo’s):
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Cooper[/name_m] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_m]Cooper[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Camden[/name_u] [name_m]Cooper[/name_m]
[name_m]Cooper[/name_m] [name_u]Camden[/name_u]
[name_u]Jace[/name_u] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_u]Jace[/name_u]

Thank you all for the replies. We have decided on [name_m]Chance[/name_m] [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. We switched it up quite a bit but feel [name_m]Chance[/name_m] goes well with [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. what a huge help you all have been!
