Hi, DH and I are struggling with a name for our expected 3rd Daughter. I am hoping for some ideas that I haven’t heard of, or just different perspective.
DD’s names are Addison and Mackenzie. Both have feminine family middle names and our last name is short and abrupt sounding, so we like the longer first names for flow reasons.
Our struggles are multiple-- very feminine names don’t flow with our first two and we tend to prefer the more neutral names. We do utilize nicknames sometimes (Addie/Adds, Kenzie). Husband sees Addison and Mackenzie as purely female names, and doesn’t like anything that’s more of a boy name now or very newly used as female. Its a weird conundrum of hitting the middle ground of not boy but not a very feminine name.
Names on the list:
Harper (Pro: not too girly. Con: “Harp” is just a non-nickname, It’s too popular)
Cassidy
Names X-ed out for various reasons:
Reagan (Family used)
Elliott- DH says its too boy.
Riley (family used)
Peyton- DH thinks its too boy…and Peyton Manning is not allowed in our household. haha.
Quinn- We like vibe of the name, but it just sounds bad with our short/abrupt last name. It’s just too short.
Any thoughts or ideas? Our daughters were both named very early in pregnancy, but we are struggling with this one.
I really like [name_u]Harper[/name_u] for you if you can get past the popularity. [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is great but has too many sounds in common with [name_u]Addison[/name_u] imo.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (she could go by Evie!)
Vivian/Vivienne
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] (might be too close to Mackenzie)
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]
and i agree with pp, [name_u]Harper[/name_u] goes wonderfully with your other daughters’ names.
Hello, I also think [name_u]Harper[/name_u] would work well! But I really like @elizabethkt’s suggestions of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] too.
[name_f]My[/name_f] suggestion is [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] nn [name_u]Laney[/name_u]. Good luck!
Okay also I had to just look up meanings, which I usually don’t even care about, but I wanted to point out that your girls names have “son of” meanings which is a cute connection. So I’m also suggesting [name_f]Winona[/name_f] nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], which means “firstborn daughter”, and I just thought that was kind of cute and funny! I looked for other “son of” names but most repeat -son endings or [name_m]Mac[/name_m]- beginnings which might be too close to your other girls’ names. If you don’t care about that then I would suggest [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] “Emmie” for you too! So anyway those are my suggestions for a subtle and humorous nod to the meanings.
Instead of [name_u]Harper[/name_u] I feel like [name_u]Harlow[/name_u] is a good option for you!
Instead of [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] what about [name_u]Finley[/name_u]?
Other suggestions I thought of:
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] / [name_u]Skyler[/name_u]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] does definitely fit w/your daughters’ names, but it is super popular. [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] isn’t popular at all, but well known & perfectly fits the vibe of unisex name that’s not too masculine. [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] & [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] sounds very cohesive! I think that [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is way cuter anyway.
Sorry for any repeats, but how about…
[name_u]Briar[/name_u]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
Chase-short & nick-name-less, but cute for a girl, right?
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]! It’s like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], but longer & kind of spunky.
From what I can see, your style seems to be Irish surname names.
I like [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] for you as it fits the above and is also three syllables like your older girls’ names. [name_u]Harper[/name_u] also works nicely (we call my 5 yo cousin Harps, maybe the S would make it more palatable to you?)
I agree with others that [name_u]Harper[/name_u] does go well with [name_u]Addison[/name_u] & [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]. As for a nickname, I know a child named [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and her Dad calls her “Harps”, which I think is incredibly sweet.
These also come to mind. Many have already been mentioned.
