4 Days Left & Still No Name!

I posted a while back which helped narrow our choices but now we’re 4 days out and still don’t have a name combination or two to take to the hospital with us (that’s agreeable to both). Maybe we’re missing a combo or need help putting the 2 names together. I need some clarity!

My first choice would still be [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Ann[/name] because I love it ([name]Ann[/name] is his mom’s middle name and [name]Harley[/name] as a nn is something we can both agree on). He still maintains that he does not want [name]Harlow[/name] but would agree to just [name]Harley[/name]. I’m feeling that [name]Harley[/name] as a stand alone may be too gritty especially if she’s a girly girl and like the idea of a unique but feminine full name like [name]Harlow[/name] to fall back on. Gah! Also loved [name]Lola[/name] as a nn from [name]Harlow[/name], but not sold on any one nn, just need to agree on full name first.

I still think that her name will be shortened, so maybe there are ideas out there that utilize any of our first name choices along with a middle name to come up with something cute/sassy but give her a solid first name.

Our first name choices include:

[name]Rowan[/name] (this one has had some staying power tho I don’t love ‘[name]Ro[/name]’, mn may help)
[name]Harper[/name] (though I do not like any shortened version of this as a nn unless you have ideas outside of [name]Harp[/name]/Harpy)
[name]Harley[/name] (?)
[name]Harlow[/name] (still on my list but trying to get over it unless you have some persuasion powers I lack)

We’re not set on an mn choices but would definitely like a more feminine name to balance each of these.
[name]Harlow[/name] is the only one I think [name]Ann[/name] would go with for me, but other names we like include: (can also mix and match the first names for a combo?)

[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Harlow[/name] (DH is fine with it as mn btw)
[name]Claire[/name]

*(any feminine ideas welcome here but not a fan of names like [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Emily[/name], etc)

Thank you thank you thank you.

I personally aren’t a big fan of your choices, [name]Harlow[/name] and [name]Harper[/name] are both masculine last names in my opinion, but I know they are becoming popular in [name]America[/name]. [name]Rowan[/name] and [name]Harley[/name] are also boys names in my opinion. I have never known girls with any of these names. (but I am from [name]England[/name]!)

I think I like [name]Rowan[/name] best, it is the most feminine, I think I like;

[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name] [name]Claire[/name]

These are both pretty!!

Sorry I don’t have the same name taste as you, but remember I’m just a stranger! Those may be considered girls names where you are? I’m not sure, I just know they aren’t here!

Good [name]Luck[/name]!!

I like [name]Harlow[/name], but I dont like [name]Harley[/name]. While both are surnamey and a little masculine, but [name]Harlow[/name] I can see on a girl much more than [name]Harley[/name] which is all boy.
I like the idea that [name]Harlow[/name] could also be [name]Lola[/name]. [name]Harper[/name] is meh to me, but I think I prefer it to [name]Rowan[/name].

Other ideas:
[name]Marlow[/name] ([name]Marley[/name], [name]Lola[/name])
[name]Delaney[/name] ([name]Laney[/name], [name]Lane[/name], [name]Dee[/name])
[name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Grayson[/name] ([name]Gracie[/name], [name]Gray[/name])
[name]Payton[/name] ([name]Toni[/name]?)
[name]Reese[/name]
Hemming

Playing with combos…
[name]Rowan[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Winnie[/name]?)
[name]Marlow[/name] [name]Ann[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
Hemming [name]Ann[/name]
[name]Grayson[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Payton[/name] [name]Harlow[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] something clicks for you!

I like [name]Harper[/name] and [name]Harlow[/name] the best. I do know a few people who have recently had daughters and named them [name]Harper[/name], so I think it’ll end up being more of a popular, trendy name.
I like [name]Harper[/name] [name]Anne[/name] and [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Anne[/name]. Or [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Claire[/name], [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Harlow[/name], [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Claire[/name], [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Belle[/name], [name]Harper[/name] [name]Claire[/name], or [name]Harper[/name] [name]Olivia[/name].

I like [name]Harlow[/name]. [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is nice, though not amazing.

I like the suggestions of [name]Marlow[/name] and [name]Piper[/name]

Why not have her first name be the feminine name and name her mn as you want too call her. Example: I had a student named [name]Abigail[/name] [name]Scout[/name] and went by [name]Scout[/name], but will always have her first name to fall back on. So just as an example from the names you mentioned, [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Harley[/name].

My names similar to [name]Rowan[/name] but better - [name]Roanna[/name] ([name]Rowe[/name]-[name]Anna[/name]) and its unpopular

[name]Rowan[/name] is pretty and unique. I always recommend Annabeth, because I’m hoping it will take off. [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Piper[/name] is nice, or maybe [name]Cadence[/name] [name]Emily[/name]. You get the uniqueness of [name]Cadence[/name] with the levelness of [name]Emily[/name] you could call a baby named [name]Cadence[/name] [name]Cady[/name], which sounds a lot like [name]Katie[/name]. If you’re going with [name]Ann[/name], put an e on the end because it look better. [name]Harper[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] is nice, and so is [name]Anne[/name] [name]Harlow[/name]. I don’t know if you like the name [name]Adelaide[/name], because if you do [name]Adele[/name] would be a good nickname for [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Harper[/name] or [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Rowan[/name]. [name]Lucy[/name] is nice too. I wouldn’t go with [name]Lola[/name], because she could never be taken seriously, but you shouldn’t listen to me, I’m very opinionated. But untsead of [name]Lola[/name], you might like [name]Vera[/name] or [name]Carly[/name]. [name]Hope[/name] it helps a little!

[name]Harper[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] would be my first pick. Maybe [name]Harper[/name] nn [name]Harley[/name]? Other ideas
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] (you could even do the nn [name]Lola[/name] but it might not work)
[name]Lillian[/name]/Liliiana (I really like [name]Lilly[/name] or [name]Lola[/name] as nns)
[name]Molly[/name]

1 [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
2 [name]Harper[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
3 [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Ann[/name]

I think you should take two or three combos to the hospital with you and decide on a combo after meeting your baby. Good luck!

I like the suggestions of [name]Marlow[/name] and [name]Delaney[/name], and from your list [name]Harlow[/name] is my favorite. What if you did [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]? It has the tomboy nn that sounds like [name]Harley[/name] (you could even just call her [name]Harley[/name]) but also the classic feminine fn to fall back on. Another suggestion would be [name]Marlena[/name]- nn [name]Marley[/name] or [name]Lena[/name]/[name]Laney[/name] for a more feminine girl. Also, you might like Shiloh nn Shy? From your list my favorite combos are: [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Ann[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Claire[/name]

Why do you new and soon to be Moms spend so much time finding the perfect name and then cover up that beautiful perfect name with a NICKNAME?..I dont get it----whats so hard about calling your child the lovely name you struggled to put together just so pefectly?..If you have a nickname you love, why wrap it in a bigger name you dont love…[name]Just[/name] name your baby what your gonna call him or her—[name]Nick[/name] names are sometimes silly…I just dont get it—

Oh, sorry…forgot to say I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Harlow[/name] and [name]Harper[/name]–

[name]Holland[/name] [name]Harbor[/name]

What about [name]Harmony[/name] nickname [name]Harley[/name]? Something like [name]Harmony[/name] [name]Claire[/name] would give you [name]Harley[/name], but would still be feminine.

Because a lot of nicknames sound silly on an adult and we want to give them the option of having a full, professional sounding name to work with as an adult?

Have you thought of [name]Hadley[/name]? [name]Hadley[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is pretty.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Harlow[/name]. [name]Harley[/name] makes me think the the motorcycles, don’t like [name]Rowan[/name] or [name]Harper[/name]
I can’t imagine shortening [name]Harlow[/name]. I’ve found that most don’t automatically shorten names unless they have traditional nicknames. [name]Harlow[/name] doesn’t have any traditional nn like [name]Catherine[/name] or [name]Elisabeth[/name]

I don’t care for the flow of [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Anne[/name], [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is nice
[name]Harlow[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Harlow[/name] [name]Adele[/name]
[name]Harlow[/name] [name]Eden[/name]
[name]Harlow[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Harlow[/name] [name]Camille[/name]
[name]Harlow[/name] [name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Harlow[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]

[name]Harley[/name] also reminds me of motorcycles, and therefore feels masculine. I do really like [name]Harlow[/name], and hope somehow you can convince your dh- perhaps after he watches you deliver a baby he’ll feel like doing something nice. Especially since he doesn’t mind it in the middle spot, that means he doesn’t dislike it THAT much. Interesting to note though, that the little girl that does the voice of Peppa Pig (the most adorable British cartoon, if you’re not familiar with it) is named [name]Harley[/name] [name]Bird[/name], and she’s certainly quite girly and cute in any of the interviews where I’ve seen her.

[name]Harlow[/name] and [name]Harley[/name] both remind me of motorcycles. I like [name]Rowan[/name] a lot, and I’m not a fan of nicknames, but if I had to shorten it (it’s only 2 syllables!) I’d probably go with Rowsie, or [name]Ro[/name]-[name]Ro[/name]. I know a little girl named [name]Claire[/name] and she is sometimes called Clairsie by her mother, and I like that. [name]Harper[/name] is [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Beckham[/name]'s child’s name, and [name]Piper[/name] is [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Palin[/name]'s child’s name, so that leaves both of them out for me. I’ll bet when you see her you’ll get more clarity.
