We are due in three months and still can’t settle on a name! I really want a Latin-based name and it’s been so hard and just want opinions on these three we’ve narrowed down:
Luca (i like this one but hubby thinks it’s too Italian)
Theo (short for Theodore but doesn’t feel/sound Latin-based)
Gael (it’s short for Gaelic but it’s been picked up my many Spanish-speaking countries. But I’m worried that in English, it sounds like a girls name ie Gail, Gale).
I love Luca!! [name_u]Gael[/name_u] would be my second pick
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] is getting a little to popular for my taste but it still it a wonderfull name
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] is my favorite of these, if you can get your husband on board
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] is great, but if you want a more Latin-based name, are you willing to bend on the 4 letter requirement? [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] seems like it would be perfect for you! [name_u]Or[/name_u] even [name_u]Leo[/name_u]?
I love [name_u]Gael[/name_u] as pronounced in the Romance languages, but I’m not sure it translates well to [name_f]English[/name_f], so it ranks last for me. Again, if you’re willing to go longer, I think [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] would be great here.
All three are solid names though! Maybe when you see your little one he’ll look like a Gael/Theo/Luca
Thanks! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is half Italian and I just think it’s funny that he thinks it’s too Italian with so many Italian cousins but none of them are named [name_u]Luca[/name_u]!
For me it’s a tough one between [name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_u]Theo[/name_u]!
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] is a lovely name he’s handsome with a sweet outdoorsy flair. I think [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is fun! Yes [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is Italian but I feel that the name is universally used so doesn’t feel to Italian to me the name feels just as universal as [name_f]Mia[/name_f].
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] is a great name he feels very classic and sophisticated. He’s fashionable what with him being a traditional nickname for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and nickname names being very vogue along with that ‘o’ ending everyone loves.
Personally for you my favourite is [name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] are both lovely and I absolutely think [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is usable for non-Italians. It’s funny your husband feels that way when he’s half Italian! I’m not a fan of [name_u]Gael[/name_u] because it reminds me too much of [name_f]Gail[/name_f], which I dislike.
If you’re looking for Latin-based names, how about:
Congratulations for your little boy on the way! Out of the three, [name_u]Luca[/name_u] my favorite It’s just so sweet! It doesn’t feel too Italian to me, as it is common in [name_u]French[/name_u] communities as well. I see it as an international name for sure.
I love [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_u]Gael[/name_u] too, but I understand your concerns for both names. [name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]? It’s four letters and ends in -o like [name_u]Theo[/name_u], but feels more Latin. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you will find which name feels right.
