Firstly, I’d like to apologise for my third post in two days, however I have a stressed husband and a family eager for a confirmed name. Thankyou all so much for the comments I’ve received, they’ve been such a help!
Our names list now rests at four strong names with middle names - but now I’ve hit a problem, because I love them all. However, little one can’t have four first names, and with so little time left before she’s here, We really need to settle on a name before my mind runs away with me and puts other names in my head. These names do have a [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] association, but not just because I love HP, but because of everything their characters represent. Not forgetting of course, that they’re absolutely gorgeous names that I can’t choose between.
So, the names are as follows;
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] - to me this symbolises love, bravery and intelligence.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] - intelligence, bravery, loyalty and strength. As well as this, I love the way that ‘Mione’ sounds like my only. (Nicknames would be either 'Mione or [name_f]Minnie[/name_f])
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] - same as [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. (Nickname would probably be [name_m]Rowe[/name_m], which I quite like because it’s different, any other nickname suggestions?)
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] - love, strength, bravery, loyalty. (Nickname would be [name_f]Ginny[/name_f])
Again, apologies for my cluttering up of the forum, and thankyou in advance.
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f].
I’m originally not a fan of [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], however I love the way [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] sounds. I think [name_m]Rowe[/name_m] would be an adorable nickname for her. No other nickname suggestions cause I think that’d be the best one. But, I believe it says a lot about the name if you can get someone like me to root for it
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] are more tied but I figured I’d put [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] first since I picked [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as my top choice.
For [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], I’d personally go for the nickname [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], not only do I have a soft spot for it but, I hear the “nee” (knee) too much in Mione…
As for [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], not really a fan at all honestly but [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] is a cute nickname.
Also, I haven’t noticed any of your posts but even if I had, don’t apologize for posting too much…3 in 2 days really isn’t that much.
I have less than 9 weeks (depending) till my boys get here and I could honestly post something every day if I let myself. You wanna find the perfect name for your baby before she’s here, I get it…as I’m sure most other berries do.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] or [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]. I’m a bit biased to [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] though since I’ve picked it for my upcoming daughter! My 3rd favourite is [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] might be a more subtle name if you don’t want a very strong [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] reference.
I love [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]. I have a cousin [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and when she was little her nickname was [name_u]Min[/name_u]/[name_f]Minnie[/name_f].
My second favourite is [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is a lovely name, and has good nickname options.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], such a beautiful name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] as beautiful, my second pick would be [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I knew someone named [name_f]Rochelle[/name_f] and she only went by [name_f]Ro[/name_f].
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]. The first name is so unusual and lovely. I’m not into [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] so I didn’t realise it was from there. Only HP fans would notice. [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] is an awesome nickname, and [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] is stylish, pretty and quirky all in one. The other combos are a bit too common for my liking - I’ll always pick the unusual names over the regular.
As a fellow Potterhead I absolutely adore these names. Unfortunately they don’t work as well here in Norway (and they aren’t even the same names)…
My vote goes to [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], hands down! Not only is it HP- perfect, but I love saying it, and it won’t throw off all the muggles of the world. My second choice is [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. It’s strong and sweet at the same time, and I, being a definite Ravenclaw, adore [name_f]Rowena[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] and [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. It depends on your last name which of them flows better. In general [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is a more unique first name and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] makes a very cute nickname. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is still a bit too obviously HP related to use in my opinion, which is a pity as I love the name (and the character). [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] is a bit too clunky for my liking.
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] is divine, gorgeous, sparkling, sophisticated and wordly. It’s perfect in my eyes. I do also like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]/[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
Oh I think I just died! Such great options! My favorite is [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] followed by [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] and then [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is also nice, but the others… wow! Good luck!
No worries - this is the first of your messages that I’ve caught, so I think you’re clear on the “cluttering” worry.
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] is the one that really stands out to me. It’s so unusual and uncommon, and nn [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] is charming. I feel like “everybody” who is doing a HP name is picking [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], and a lot of people who aren’t choosing HP names are now onto [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]. Still, a lot of people love it now, and you do seem to really love the “Mione” bit.
One thing I always ask myself is this: is there any name that I will feel sad about NOT using? If I’m at a playground and hear another little one called by X name, will I be a little bit wistful that I didn’t pick that name, too? I always find it’s helpful to think through that. Maybe it will help you find THE ONE!
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] struck me right away. I love how sweet [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is, and how strong [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is, in contrast. They work together so well, and I agree they have this feeling of bravery! It’s lovely. I don’t like it so much reversed, and I’m not sure I love [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], at least, not up front, but I do quite like [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], too! That would be my second pick, I think.
Oh my goodness this is the greatest thread I have ever seen! I love [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] names. At least one HP reference per combo is a personal naming rule of mine. =]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] would be my first choice from these four. [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is a gorgeous and uncommon yet still recognizable name and I think any little girl would be thrilled to have it. She has been recently added to my own first name list so it’s fresh in my mind. I’d call mine Row and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] when she was young. [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] was also suggested to me and I love that. Roly could be cute if you combine her first and middle names.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]- It seems that you really love [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and of course all of these are great female characters, but [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is unarguably the epitome of a smart, kind, and amazing heroine. The balance and flow of these two names is great, [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] sounds very nice in the middle. This would be my second favorite.
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]- Because right after [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] is the second most notably awesome of the four characters. If I ever meet a little [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] I would be elated, it is such a gorgeous name. She loses just a few points because if she regularly goes by [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], that will be familiar to everyone and they may assume her name is [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] (not really a problem, I just know if it were me that would bother me).
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]- I think this gives off the least HP feel which is a negative in my book. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is easily the most popular of all your first name choices and doesn’t seem as meaningful for that reason, though it’s still a lovely name. I also like the flow of [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] a bit better, and think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] actually shines more as a middle.
I hope all of that made sense, because I really do love every single name there and you absolutely can’t go wrong. No matter which one you choose, your daughter will have a gorgeous, meaningful name. Good luck!! =]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] - I love the sound of it, and I would absolutely want to meet a little [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is my favorite female character from HP. And I agree that it embodies intelligence, bravery, loyalty, and strength.
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] - It flows very nicely and I think the name [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is just beautiful.
Thankyou all so much:) I agree with the fact that [name_f]Lily[/name_f] goes better as a middle name, and the fact that it’s so popular does put me off it slightly. I honestly didn’t think there were that many potterhead mums around and I’m so happy (and slightly relieved) that I’ve found some. Pernillemarie, I’m a Ravenclaw too, so the [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is swaying me a bit, and I love the nickname [name_m]Rowe[/name_m] - it’s adorable! I love the way it goes with [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and what both names together represent. However I love [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] too, and [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is my favourite character. [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] is something quite quirky and different to me, and I think that’s one of the reasons I love it. I love the nickname [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] too, however I do worry about the possibility of a nickname of [name_f]Gin[/name_f], and I’m not too keen on that if I’m honest. My husband’s favourite is [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], but I’m not entirely convinced, because quite frankly - I’m madly in love with all of the names.
The problem is, if I name [name_m]Little[/name_m] One one of the names, I’ll stay in love with the other names until I have another.
Are two HP names too much? I probably wouldn’t have a [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] because i think that’s too obvious that they have a potterhead mother, but I honestly don’t think I could fall in love with any other names like I have with these. I’m officially hopeless:(
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. My favourite would probably be [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f], I like the flow of it and its got lots of nn potential!
