40 weeks and wondering about Phoenix...

Ok, berries… the situation is getting dire over here. For those of you who have seen my posts the last couple months, we have been ALL over the board in this naming process for our 3rd baby girl. My husband is the one who tends to veto all the fantastic ideas suggested here. We are down to the 11th hour, and last night, he came up with the name… [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].

I actually kind of like it! Especially the significance behind the name because this baby has had a long tough journey to get here, and I was hoping to find a name with meaning for her.

What do you think!?? Could [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] work for a girl? Nickname possibilities “[name_u]Fee[/name_u]” or “Finny” or even “[name_f]Nix[/name_f]”. I don’t care too much about a matching sibset (and realize [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] doesn’t really match) but big sisters are [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

Other names that are on our list that hubby is willing to consider:
[name_u]Scout[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Grier[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Berkeley[/name_m]
[name_f]Ione[/name_f]

He has vetoed pretty much every other name in the world, so please no new suggestions. Would [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] your thoughts on [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. If you hate it, why, and which name from our list above would you prefer?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I like it! I would just give her a feminine middle name. I also like [name_u]Scout[/name_u], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Grier[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], and [name_f]Ione[/name_f] from your list. I think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] would be especially sweet. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is cool though and if you guys like it, I think you should use it!

I’m not a huge fan of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], but I don’t hate it or anything. No particular reason, just not my style. I really like [name_u]Fee[/name_u] as a nickname though! Out of the others on the last, [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is probably my favorite. [name_f]Ione[/name_f] is lovely too, but I worry that pronunciation might be a problem.

I really like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] actually! It has nice imagery to it, cute nns and I think you could put your 2nd fav name as the mn.
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] or [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] are my favs, unless you have a diff mn in mind?

I would use it as a middle name since it has meaning to you but I think it is almost a bit too whimsical for a first name, especially on a girl. On its own, it seems a huge name to carry.

Thanks!— what middle names would you suggest for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]?

I really love [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] on a girl! From your list, [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] would sound so adorable~

It’s not my favorite on your list, but nothing is wrong with it. I personally really like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Grier[/name_f]. [name_f]Grier[/name_f] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is cute! But, the nickname [name_u]Fee[/name_u] is adorable, so that makes me really like the idea of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. I have three girls, their names don’t really “match” either. Lol. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Fee[/name_u] go together well though! So her nickname would “match”. Lol

I love [name_f]Ione[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is a completely cheesy name. I think it comes off as trying to be cool and different. It isn’t though. It’s one of those names that is hard to take seriously in the real world. If you like [name_u]Fee[/name_u], how about [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]?

I like many nature names because I’m a outdoors lover and like the meaning of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], but do not like it at all for a girl’s name. I think it would work best as a boys middle name. From this list, my favorites would be [name_f]Grier[/name_f] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], but I commented on your other post that I love [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].

OK, thanks for the input. I think I agree with most of you!!!

It sounded kinda good last night when I couldn’t sleep trying to think of a name, but by the light of day, it’s feeling kinda too much/cheesy to me. Maybe maybe as a middle name, or if we’re liking the “[name_u]Fee[/name_u]” nn, go with [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].

I have another post up right now with our current list names, so hoping to get good input on our other options.

THANKS!!

I think it’s actually kind of cute, and I love [name_f]Nixi[/name_f]!

I love it as a middle name choice and dislike it bc I associate it with the city…have you been?
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] or [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] would be cute! [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] is adorable!
Definitely not good with [name_m]Berkeley[/name_m] or another place/word name imo

I think [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] works fine on a girl. I’m sure there are both male and female phoenixes.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]?

I love [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. Prefer it on a girl rather than a boy, anyway! [name_f]Nixie[/name_f] would be a super cute NN.

It will stand out a lot in comparison to [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], but if you don’t mind that then I think it is fine.

I actually quite like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. I knew a girl in college named [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and she carried it very well. She didn’t use a nickname, but I love the possibility of [name_f]Nix[/name_f].

[name_u]Scout[/name_u], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Grier[/name_f], and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are all on our list as well. I really don’t think you can go wrong here.

Wow, interesting that we have such similar lists! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have other kids? Curious as to their names since we have similar taste. I also have a [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and a [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
