On homestretch! Would love some final advice/ideas.
Been on here a couple of times which has helped whittle list but as time goes on, others are added too. (Thank you!)
Any thoughts on final ones (and poss nn’s) I intend to take in to hospital?! Any strong images or qualities associated with any? ([name_m]Will[/name_m] be regularly said in [name_u]Brit[/name_u] and [name_m]Oz[/name_m] accent btw…and last name tricky - like Memlo.)
*[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] ([name_f]Hatsy[/name_f]/ [name_m]Harry[/name_m])
*[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] ([name_f]Suki[/name_f]/Zannah/[name_f]Suri[/name_f] - too soon?)
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] ([name_f]Immy[/name_f])
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] ([name_m]Lenny[/name_m]/[name_f]Lainey[/name_f] - I’m inclined towards “e” in [name_f]Helena[/name_f] but open to both and downside is that a correction-name!)
Others are [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (but less sure that nn can do justice to name) and [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] (but prob suited to a beachier babe than I’m likely to produce!)
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is my favorite from your list! I love [name_f]Suri[/name_f] as a nn! [name_f]Lily[/name_f] could be another sort of a stretch but [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] means lily so…I like it;)
Good luck!!
I really like [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] with an “a” sound on the second syllable, though. The nicknames you’ve chosen are cute!
I love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], but if you don’t like the nicknames, it might not be the best name for you.
I like [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Suki[/name_f] is an adorable nickname. I don’t care for [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] or [name_f]Avalon[/name_f].
Thanks Mom2ome2! Realised I put in [name_f]Suri[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Siri[/name_f] for [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] nn option. Both have their baggage…but both so pretty…
I think Hel-ai-na more romantic too, lisaahs. I think I’m open to “e” or trying to be because Lenny/Leni prob better flow than Lainey/Lani with last name and husband doesn’t like too frilly/soft… Josephine was in top spot last month but I’m not keen on (the sounds) Jo or Jojo and even Josie feels like a different person to a Josephine. There’s Posey, Phina and Sephie but you can’t always enforce nn’s!
My favourite from your list is [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]! Gorgeous name. The other names have always felt kind of dated to me (other than [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]) but I love the nn [name_f]Suki[/name_f] for [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! So adorable!
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] -
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
I am trying to think of something helpful to say…
All your first names (except [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] not [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]) are ‘my’ middle name quandary.
I am slightly favoring the two H’s - [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] but really I want to have 4 middles :-? I prefer - just - [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] to [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] but I still love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. It has beautiful rhythm. [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is a beautiful name, It has timeless appeal -it never sounds old fashioned to me. I would love to have a little [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] or [name_m]Harry[/name_m] - I am not that into gender neutral nn/names like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] etc but those I love, I love, and [name_m]Harry[/name_m] is one of them
If [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] goes really well with your last name -then [name_f]Harriet[/name_f].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] all the name road tests and call your pet each name as often as you can -you don’t have much time left to decide so I wish you all the very best for a safe and happy birth as well.
My favorite from your list is [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]—it’s so lively, classic, and elegant-yet-fun. It definitely has the coolest nickname options, too. I like that it has the same vintage feel as [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], and [name_f]Helena[/name_f], but none of the drawbacks ([name_f]Helena[/name_f] has the two possible pronunciations issue, while the other two have more of a buttoned-up, stuffy feel than [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], which sounds much more endearing IMHO.)
I think they’re all strong choices! My favorite is [name_f]Helena[/name_f] with the nickname [name_m]Lenny[/name_m]. Hell-ay-na sounds nice, too, but I think the Hell-en-uh pronunciation is so much more common that having an alternate version might be tiresome.
Between the nicknames [name_m]Lenny[/name_m] and [name_f]Lainey[/name_f], I also prefer [name_m]Lenny[/name_m], though I do like [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] as well.
[name_f]Lainey[/name_f] seems to me to remove a little of the uniqueness of [name_f]Helena[/name_f], since it’s also used as a nickname for [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], or [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], or even as a name in its own right. [name_m]Lenny[/name_m] on the other hand, I think of as a retro boys’ name, but I think it feels fresh and fun on a girl.
This results in the more common choice (of pronunciation) as the long form, with the more unexpected/rare nickname option.
I love Zannah as a nn for [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]! I also love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and its nicknames (particularly [name_u]Josie[/name_u], Sephie, and Phi) but it doesn’t sound like you’re in love with that option, so [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] nn Zannah has my vote.
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] could also be a nn for [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] for [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Immy[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. The sound is lovely.
I don’t see [name_f]Siri[/name_f] going away as an issue… your daughter would constantly hear her name when someone decided to ask their phone a question … stick with your other nn possibilities.
I love the name [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! It feels very playful.
I like [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], But [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is my fav! I love this name and the nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is the cutest thing ever. I also like it spelled without the “H” ([name_f]Elena[/name_f]) and maybe you could use the other names as middle? Good luck!
