5/6 Babe

Our fourth child and second baby girl arrived last week - [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]!

[name_f]Claudia[/name_f] - I loved this name for most of my pregnancy, but fought hard against it bc it seemed too much like the obvious choice - my other kids’ names were the result of lots of searching and debate, so using this name just felt too “easy” to be right! But it won out in the end:) The name still feels a little big for a baby, but I’m confident she’ll grow into it. I love this name for its femininity-without-frills, its recognizability, and what I feel is a hint of chic! I also like that it “draws in” our younger son’s name, who I’ve felt doesn’t necessarily “go” with his two older siblings’ names…i feel like [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] bridges the gap and adds some polish

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - I also wrestled a bit with this middle name, but again, in the end it won out. [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is not my favorite combo aesthetically/sonically, but the meanings behind [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] made it the far and above fav:
*Josephine means “God will increase” - I love how open-ended that is! [name_m]God[/name_m] will increase ________ - [name_m]God[/name_m] himself increases…so powerful!
*way back when, I dreamed I was pregnant, took a pregnancy test, and that positive test is this little girl! The Josephs in the Old and [name_m]New[/name_m] Testaments are both given important dreams

  • also dreams…my husband’s and my first dance was “A Kiss to Build a [name_f]Dream[/name_f] On”
*St. [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] has been important patron in our family’s life

Welcomed by siblings [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] [family surname], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], and [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] [name_m]Nicolai[/name_m]!

I love that you we remember each other’s fave names! Was only saying before bed last night (to husband for the 50th time): “if you really had to pick, [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]? :joy::heartpulse:

Big congrats to you and your family @Laxthomps0n on the healthy arrival of your daughter - she’s beautifully named with two names I’v loved since childhood. I’m glad you’ve gone for a name she’ll grow into - we spend most of our lives as adults - and I also think [name_f]Claudie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cloudy[/name_f] are both gorgeous nn’s for a baby/youngster. :ribbon::ribbon::ribbon:

Hugest congratulations!

Wishing you and your family all the best with your latest addition :two_hearts:

Oh how fun! can you share what you like about [name_f]Claudia[/name_f]? Getting neutralish response from those around me, and while i would never let that influence a name choice, it’d be nice to hear from someone else who loves it!

[name_f]Claudia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is such a strong, beautiful combo! Congratulations :two_hearts:

Congratulations!! I adore the name [name_f]Claudia[/name_f], and it goes so perfectly with her siblings!

I associate [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] with 90s glam (see [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] Schiffer), someone’s who’s go-getter, international beauty, possibly sporty too. I see it as a very commanding, proud, chin up name but also has something soft, dainty and bookish about it so it’s not entirely outward if that makes sense. I also love actually saying the name - great letters and sounds in there! - plus there are so many sweet nickname options: [name_f]Claudie[/name_f], [name_f]Cloudy[/name_f], [name_m]Audie[/name_m], [name_f]Dia[/name_f]. I know [name_f]Cloudy[/name_f] gets more usage in countries that pronounce it Clow-dia. But I still think you could use it in an English-speaking context. Actually, my brother’s (Australian) ex was a Clow-dia not Claw-dia. Good you’re backing yourself on this one, it’s a gorgeous name! :ribbon:
