So far, we have 3 boys… [name]Jonah[/name], [name]Micah[/name] & [name]Gabriel[/name] ([name]Gabe[/name]). And our daughter is [name]Autumn[/name]. I’m due with son #4 in 2 months and here are the names we’re considering…
[name]Oliver[/name] (nickname [name]Ollie[/name])
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name] (we’d call him [name]Eli[/name])
[name]Oliver[/name]‘s my favorite, but my not my husband’s. And it obviously isn’t truly biblical, like his brothers’ names. We both love [name]Elijah[/name] (calling him [name]Eli[/name]). And we also love [name]Asher[/name], but are worried about nicknames in middle & high school on that one.
I can personally best see another Biblical name with [name]Micah[/name], [name]Jonah[/name], and [name]Gabriel[/name] (great names!), so I’ll go with [name]Asher[/name] or [name]Elijah[/name]. ([name]Asher[/name] is my favorite of the two.) Does one sound better with your last name?
All FABULOUS names, but I’m going to vote for [name]Asher[/name] and I think it’s the obvious choice. Here’s why: [name]Oliver[/name] doesn’t seem to fit so well with your other boys’ names, not only because [name]Oliver[/name] is not biblical, but also because [name]Oliver[/name] has this old-world vintage feel to it that seems to be in contrast to your other boys’ names, which while classic have a far more modern edge. [name]Elijah[/name] blends in well, but then you would have three boys whose names end in ah. Not only might this start to make your name set feel a bit too matchy, but worse it just seems like it would leave poor [name]Gabriel[/name] as the odd man out. I love [name]Asher[/name] and I think it works perfectly with your other children.
OR, since you plan on calling [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Eli[/name], perhaps you would consider [name]Elias[/name] or [name]Eliezer[/name] nn [name]Eli[/name] instead.
[name]Jonah[/name], [name]Micah[/name], [name]Gabe[/name], and [name]Eli[/name] are fantastic together if you could avoid the ah-ending issue.
One other suggestion: if you love [name]Eli[/name], you might also love [name]Levi[/name], and perhaps that could be another option to consider.
I think [name]Asher[/name] would be perfect for many of the reasons given above - too many -ah- end names with [name]Elijah[/name]. [name]Oliver[/name] sounds like he’d be from a different family. Sorry! As for a nn for [name]Asher[/name], I know a little boy called [name]Ash[/name] who is gorgeous. I think that’s a great modern nickname for a great, classic, strong name.
Thanks for the comments; sounds like I may need to pass on [name]Oliver[/name]. I love [name]Asher[/name] (and [name]Elijah[/name]/[name]Eli[/name] too, for that matter) & also the nn [name]Ash[/name], but I wonder what the nn [name]Ash[/name] could be turned into (sounds a lot like a**). Thoughts on that front??
I know a guy just names [name]Ash[/name]. Not [name]Asher[/name], [name]Ash[/name].
He has never been picked on with regards to [name]Ash[/name]/A**. Typically, teasing of that sort happens in elementary school, and his classmates never put the 2 together.
He’s a really cool, sweet guy and his relaxed name has kind of become part of his personality.
I personally love [name]Asher[/name] with his brothers’ names.
I love [name]Asher[/name] the most, too! You have two names ending in -ah already with [name]Jonah[/name] and [name]Micah[/name], so I wouldn’t add another into the mix with [name]Elijah[/name] - what about poor [name]Gabriel[/name], then?
I babysat for a little [name]Asher[/name] [name]Kevin[/name] a few years back from the moment he came home from the hospital until he was about four or five. Never, ever was he teased! We called him [name]Asher[/name], occasionally [name]Ashe[/name], but nobody ever turned the name into a$$. His big brothers were [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Jacob[/name], who went by [name]Jacob[/name], and [name]Jaden[/name] [name]Zachary[/name]. Great name, [name]Asher[/name] is!
