I’ve posted before trying to figure out names for this little pixie, but can’t quite decide which one is THE ONE. I’m going crazy! And my husband is about named out at this point lol! Poor guy, having a Name nerd for a wife haha :D. This is what we have right now, I would love your imput!
First of all, our daughter is named [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. (nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u])
Now for this little girl, our top names are:
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Indie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
My hubby loves the name [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f], just [name_f]Indie[/name_f] nothing formal, and [name_f]Beth[/name_f] is my middle name. I think its darling but we live a couple hours from [name_u]Indiana[/name_u], and I’m just not sure about it.
I think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is darling as well, and I actually love the name [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I just [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] nature names and I love that both have ties to it. ([name_f]Maisie[/name_f] means “[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]”) It’s still our top name and we have prayed for her as [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. But I get worried that its still too similar to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and that people will mix them up! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I’ve had several people tell me that they would not have even thought about it.
Or does [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] sound good together? [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]? [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]? Or would it make people just think of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] the Mouse and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] the Pooh? lol, I try to be thorough. I am just about done thinking about it all, but yet I can’t stop. Any thoughts or encouragement would help! Thanks!
I would go with [name_f]Indie[/name_f] out of your choices. I personally would go with [name_f]India[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] over [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] since I don’t like nicknames.
I adore [name_f]Indie[/name_f]. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Such a beautiful, sweet, spunky combo. I have [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] (and [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]) on my short list. With you loving nature names, that combo might be to your liking also.
My favorite from your list is [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I also like it as a nickname for [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] (or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], etc.) which I think goes really well with [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_f]Indie[/name_f] are a little trendier than I like usually but that’s just me. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is a bit close to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] but still usable with the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
I’m in the same situation, time is running out and we haven’t come up with a name, lol!
Of your options my favorite is [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as someone suggested, instead of two nicknames together. I’ve never liked [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] so that doesn’t help, but it could be a nickname for another name as other people have said!
I love [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. Some other suggestions are [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f].
I know a girl names [name_f]Indie[/name_f] whose full name is [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]. I would suggest [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Khloe[/name_f], [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].
Since [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] has a nickname and formal name, I’d do the same for this one: [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]/[name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Indira[/name_f]/[name_f]Indie[/name_f], [name_f]Marisol[/name_f]/[name_f]Maisie[/name_f], that sort of thing. I like [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] together the best and personally find [name_u]Eden[/name_u] too close to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. But that’s just me!!
In my mind, the perfect pair would be [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] ‘[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]’ and [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] (rhymes with parade) [name_u]Eden[/name_u] or [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]’
With that said, I think that [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] can work, especially since you already use the nickname ‘[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]’.
Congrats on your baby girl!!
First I want to say that [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name and is also on my list of current favorites.
For your potential names mentioned, my favorite is [name_f]Indie[/name_f] and my least favorite is [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
[name_f]Indie[/name_f] is bold and unique name that’s just darling to me. I don’t think that anyone will make the connection you are afraid that people will make this name. If you are still nervous but still love this name maybe it could be a possible nickname for
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]India[/name_f]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_f]Indira[/name_f]
It’s totally up to you but I think it’s also a very sweet name on its own.
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] was my close second choice. I think that it will age well and don’t think that it’s too close to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] that you should avoid it but it isn’t really a and that strikes my fancy all too much.
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] was my last choice because I tend to think of it as a nickname or as a name that will not age very well by the time your daughter is in high school or later on in life. I apologize if this is harsh, I don’t want to feel that I’m judging this name, it’s just not my taste. I think it could possibly be a suitable middle name.
I have two middle names and I think that you could possibly make the choice to do this as well by naming your daughter
I hope that this was helpful to you in some way. Congrats once again and good luck choosing your name! I hope that whichever you choose is one that makes you and your spouse very happy.
I like [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] or [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] the best. [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is cute and modern, although perhaps also a bit trendy because of the music genre name. There are some cool names you can get [name_f]Indie[/name_f] from too. [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] and [name_f]Indira[/name_f] are cool options I think! I would stay away from the name [name_f]India[/name_f] though, since I have had multiple [name_f]Indian[/name_f] friends (from [name_f]India[/name_f]) express annoyance about people using that name when they’ve never been to the country.
I 100% agree that [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is too similar to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. Can you imagine yelling “[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u]!” 20 times a day while you’re tired or stressed out? I imagine it would drive you nuts. I also personally don’t like the name [name_u]Eden[/name_u] in general because I think it’s a little awkward to say out loud (and perhaps too closely associated with religion), but that’s just my opinion.
I don’t have any strong feelings on [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] so I’ll remain neutral on that one :).
Also I forgot to mention in my last comment, [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is GORGEOUS!!! It’s one of the loveliest names I’ve seen mentioned on this site!
I think that both [name_f]Indie[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] are great choices. The only thing that makes [name_u]Eden[/name_u] “too close” to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] for me is that they are both “E” names. If you don’t have any reservations about that, then go for it. Two possible suggestions to help seal the deal on one or the other: 1) giving [name_f]Indie[/name_f] a name other than [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] as a full name so if someone says “oh, do you have special ties to [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]?” you can say “no, it’s short for [name_f]India[/name_f]/[name_f]Indira[/name_f]/[name_f]Indra[/name_f] which we chose because we thought it sounded as beautiful and lyrical as our eldest daughter [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]'s name.” (also, [name_f]Indra[/name_f] means “possessing drops of rain” which has a nature tie) or 2) calling [name_u]Eden[/name_u] “[name_f]Edie[/name_f]” which has a similar sound to [name_f]Indie[/name_f] and might make a nice compromise. Personally, I really like [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] called [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_u]Win[/name_u].
I’d also like to add that I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. It’s soooo beautiful. The reason I left it out of the earlier part of my post is that you seemed less excited about it as an option–also because it’s a lot more mainstream than the other two options and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] seems to go better with those.
I don’t know if [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Indie[/name_f] sound good together… little bit of a tongue twister. But I really like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]!
