6 Weeks to Go... NO NAMES!! Please Help Us!

Yes you read that right… I have 6 weeks to go, and NO NAMES! We do not know the sex of our second child, and can not agree on ANYTHING! I look for baby names for hours on end and nothing nothing nothing is working to please both Husband and myself.

The main problem is my own name is very unique, I have never met anyone else with it in 28 years, while Husband’s first name is [name]Adam[/name] (borrring). Which means I am pickier, and he is happy to settle with a more popular name.

We named our first child [name]Easton[/name] [name]James[/name], which we both loved immediately and that was that. [name]Easton[/name] may be growing in popularity, but we have yet to meet another, which I love.

Some qualities we are seeking: a name that most others will not have / know a child with… HOWEVER… I want a name that is unique, but not made up… I am not into the [name]Jaden[/name], Grayden, [name]Brayden[/name], [name]Kailyn[/name] trend, or the [name]Riley[/name], [name]Gage[/name], [name]Crew[/name] trend… I feel like I have read every baby name on [name]Earth[/name], and am despreately seeking something another child on the playground will probably not have.

Some names I like that Husband has shot down are : [name]Oakley[/name], [name]Baker[/name], [name]August[/name] (for a girl)… For a boy I like [name]Waylen[/name]… None of my names are acceptable to Husband, who is more timid than I, and loves [name]Landon[/name] and [name]Caleb[/name], both great names, but a little too common for me. My all time favorite girls name, though it is sadly now growing in popularity, is [name]Monroe[/name]… I feel I cant use it because Husband and I grew up in a small town together, surrounded by two towns… [name]Easton[/name] and [name]Monroe[/name]. [name]Kinda[/name] weird.

Please help! I recently met a little girl named Towne… that name has all of the characteristics I am looking for; You can pronounce it, spell it, and it is different.

Please help.

I will try to help. In regard to a daughter it sounds like you would prefer a name that is a noun. Therefore I suggest [name]Delta[/name]. My latest love for a boy that may suit you is [name]Granger[/name].

Maybe that will give you a start with your name list. Let me know if I am heading in the right direction.

rollo

Thanks so much for your reply… both are names I haven’t seen before and that in itself is a step in the right direction!

Because I spend hours and hours and HOUUUURS searching for a name, I think I am drawn mostly towards Old English / Southern type names, so I dont think these two would work, but I am at the point where I will not rule out any possible “new” idea… just so I can run it by Husband!

Thanks so much for the response… please keep them coming!

I think [name]Easton[/name] and [name]Monroe[/name] would be kinda cool if you grew up around there

I agree with mermuse (: Your children’s names could have a little connection, and I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Monroe[/name]! It stands out

I agree, [name]Easton[/name] and [name]Monroe[/name] sound great together… I think the town connection is cool.

You seem to have a preference for masculine/unisex girls names…?
What girls names does your husband like?

Some other ideas…

Girls: [name]Cameo[/name], [name]Thora[/name], [name]Ever[/name], [name]Soleil[/name], Praire, Jonti, [name]Holiday[/name], Runa, [name]Briar[/name], [name]Sapphire[/name], [name]Morning[/name], [name]Israel[/name], [name]Wynn[/name], [name]Rory[/name], [name]Quilla[/name], [name]Shea[/name], [name]Seren[/name]

Boys: [name]Hollis[/name], [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Laiken[/name], [name]Culley[/name], [name]Afton[/name], [name]Griffin[/name], [name]Cormac[/name], [name]Reef[/name], Keigh/Key, [name]Arlen[/name], [name]Bly[/name], [name]Moss[/name], Arkham, [name]Evander[/name], Boscoe

I think the connection with [name]Easton[/name] and [name]Monroe[/name] would be a fabulous way to connect the names and give them history. However if you feel this isn’t the route you want to take, that’s fine too!

I’m still trying to figure out your style, but for girls what do you think of [name]Wren[/name], [name]Loa[/name] (Lo-uh), [name]Lark[/name], [name]Marley[/name], [name]Flannery[/name], [name]Rowen[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Cleo[/name], [name]Clea[/name].

For boys some ideas are [name]Merritt[/name], [name]Lennox[/name], [name]Callahan[/name], [name]Dempsey[/name], [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name].

Let me know if any of those catch your eye. I’d love to give some more suggestions.

A helpful resource you may like (I just used it to find some of the names up there for you) is nymbler.com

You type in a name you like and it matches you with a ton of others you may like. Only thing is, it automatically thinks [name]Monroe[/name] is a boys name

Good luck! You’ll surely find a name you love!

Hmm…
[name]How[/name] about:
Girls-[name]Lillith[/name], [name]Indigo[/name], [name]India[/name], Brooklee, [name]Vienna[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name]
Boys-[name]Winthrop[/name], [name]Hunter[/name], [name]Holden[/name], [name]Jaxon[/name], [name]Trae[/name]

With Eason I see:

Girls:
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Emery[/name]
[name]Hayes[/name] (now that I type this, think it could go for a boy too)
[name]Eliot[/name]

Boys:
[name]Fischer[/name]
[name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Jonas[/name]
[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Titus[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name] ([name]Reece[/name])
[name]Walker[/name]
[name]Jameson[/name]

I think that you should go for [name]Monroe[/name]

[name]Easton[/name] and

Girls;
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Eden[/name]
[name]Brenna[/name]
[name]Ainsley[/name]

Boys;
[name]Abel[/name]
[name]Rowe[/name]/[name]Roe[/name]
[name]Evan[/name]
[name]Grey[/name]/[name]Gray[/name]
[name]Carson[/name]
[name]Camden[/name]
[name]Nolan[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name]
[name]Brennan[/name]

Not sure if these are your style (having a hard time grasping that). I think they have a southern/old english feel to them:

Boys:
[name]Stone[/name]
[name]Russell[/name]
[name]Sterling[/name]
[name]Maverick[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Heath[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Rhett[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name]

Girls: Not a lot of ideas. [name]Monroe[/name] is just not my style. I would suggest [name]Marilyn[/name], [name]Anna[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Claire[/name] [name]Marie[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name].

I like [name]Easton[/name] [name]James[/name].

I too like [name]Monroe[/name] for his sister, but I’d like it more if [name]Mariah[/name] [name]Carey[/name] hadn’t just used it! Darn her! haha

What about [name]Jovie[/name]? It has that long “o” sound and is similar to the more “normal” [name]Josie[/name] so perhaps your DH might like it.

Other suggestions:
[name]Alba[/name]
[name]Cambrie[/name]
[name]Cypress[/name]
[name]Bay[/name]
[name]Fable[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name] - a bit more well known but still not very many of them running around!
[name]Journey[/name]
[name]Laramie[/name] -a guilty pleasure for me, on girls
[name]Mclain[/name]
[name]Sterling[/name]
[name]Sunday[/name]
There are so many unique names out there. Perhaps the compromise for you guys lies in giving one “normal” aka boring (to you) name and one “special” aka crazy (to him) name and making it the kind of first plus middle that are almost always said together, the way [name]Emma[/name] [name]Claire[/name] or something like that would be. For example one of my favorite word names of all time is [name]Bright[/name] because it makes me think of a wee baby’s bright eyes. So on my list is “[name]Francis[/name] [name]Bright[/name].” The first being a family thing. I could see myself always calling her by both names because of how cute they sound together. So maybe come up with normal+unique with the same great flow as [name]Easton[/name] [name]James[/name] and you could both be happy.

I love [name]August[/name] for a girl as well. Some other boy names I’ve considered giving a daughter are [name]Lachlan[/name], [name]Archer[/name], and [name]Sterling[/name]. [name]How[/name] about [name]Conrad[/name], [name]Lemuel[/name] or [name]Ransom[/name] for boys?

[name]Easton[/name] [name]James[/name] and…

[name]Everett[/name] [name]Clay[/name]
[name]Tobin[/name] [name]Orion[/name]
[name]Joaquin[/name] [name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Marlon[/name] [name]Anthony[/name]
[name]Gordon[/name] [name]Blake[/name]
[name]Tennyson[/name] [name]Victor[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name] [name]Jon[/name]

and…

[name]Marlo[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Rhea[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Paisley[/name] [name]Reece[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Jordana[/name] [name]Blair[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Selah[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name]

Boy: [name]Blair[/name],[name]Easton[/name],[name]Blane[/name]
Girl: [name]Blaire[/name],[name]Blythe[/name],Victori

I really like [name]Easton[/name] [name]James[/name] - it’s a great combination. If you really like surnames, I’d suggest looking into your genealogy - there can be fascinating, great names in your family tree, and there’s an instant connection to them.

some ideas in that vein:
girls:
[name]Holland[/name]
[name]Fraser[/name] - alternate meanings I’ve found are “curly-haired” and “strawberry,” could be adorable for a little girl
[name]Campbell[/name]
[name]Collins[/name]
[name]Adair[/name]
[name]Sterling[/name]
[name]Starling[/name] - this was [name]Tasha[/name] [name]Tudor[/name]'s given name
[name]Quincy[/name]
[name]Grey[/name]
[name]Reeve[/name]
Avedon
[name]Alden[/name]
[name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Kirby[/name]
Darden
[name]Clare[/name]
[name]Perry[/name]
[name]Sinclair[/name]

boys:
[name]Duncan[/name]
[name]Winston[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Stewart[/name]
[name]Ross[/name]
[name]Randolph[/name]
[name]Rafferty[/name]
[name]Ford[/name]

I have no idea if these will appeal to you, and obviously some could be used for either gender. I hope this helps, and good luck!

I feel like my husband and I have the same problem! [name]Glad[/name] we are not the only ones  . Our last little guy didn’t have a name for 2-3 weeks after he was born! He ended up being [name]Tucker[/name] J. I am kind of bummed that we have run into about 2 since then, but still feel it is a little different. Hubs totally likes normal sounding names to unique ones, but I am the opposite. We have another one due in [name]November[/name] and I hope that this little guy will have a name soon, but it’s not looking like it yet! Good luck!

Here are some kind of different names that I like–maybe you will too?
