7. Dystopian Novel

Genre of [name_u]Story[/name_u]: sci-fi

Time Period/Location: A space station in [name_f]Earth[/name_f]'s orbit, something like the year 3000. I haven’t decided yet.

Brief Plot: A city existing soling in a space station orbiting [name_f]Earth[/name_f] was created 200 years ago by a group of purists out to start the perfect race. Now, the last few generations of leaders have become more and more corrupt until they’re using the population like cattle. They breed them and control every thing they do, eat, etc. Strict genetic control etc. Extreme cast system. Think Nazis and cannibals. Rebelling ensues when one man gets a glimpse at his leaders for the first time and sees how bad their situation really is.

Thing Description: I need a name for the space station (not [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]Earth[/name_f]) and I need a title for the actual book. I’m horrible at titles.

Already Considered (if relevant): I’ve considered making the name of the ship a reference to my current series which is getting published. But I’d also like a proper name in case I change my mind.

[name_m]Don[/name_m]’t Suggest These Names: [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]Earth[/name_f]. Please don’t do that :stuck_out_tongue:

If you need more info, let me know.

Well I can’t help with a title, I am so horrible at that (to give you an idea: story set at a boarding school creatively named Boarding School… :P)

But since the space station is like a new utopia why not use the word Novum which means new in Latin? Latin words tends to sound sci-fyish to me anyways, and that has the bonus of referring to your new society. Novum Modus sounds interesting; modus means method/manner by itself in Latin so Novum Modus would be [name_m]New[/name_m] Method as in a new method of living? It also nods to the rebellion of the people. That’s just my idea at the moment, but if I’m not on the right thinking track, you could let me know and I can think of something else to share.

Novum is nice thank you. Though, I did say not [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]Earth[/name_f] and here I am going “Oh, the word [name_m]New[/name_m] is great” :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll keep it in my back pocket in case I can’t find something more creative. :stuck_out_tongue:
Now I’m going to play with Latin in conjunction with my current novels so I can make a tie in maybe. I know you know nothing about them, but if something sounds cool, tell me.

If we’re going with Latin and I have cannibals, perhaps Vorans? “The Devouring” is the name of the 3rd novel and what people are doing.

Or “Transitur” which is “The Transition” and the name of my second novel?

Evigilantem is “The Awakening” which is the first book that’s currently at the publishers.

I’m going to be playing with Latin all day now :stuck_out_tongue:

Or Lefki Floga, which is Greek for White [name_u]Flame[/name_u] (which is a thing in my books) or Mavri Floga which is [name_m]Black[/name_m] [name_u]Flame[/name_u] (and the name of the series)

Metavasi is Greek for Transition. Xypnima is Awakening (the X looks very sci-fi huh?)

Okay, I’ve played as much as I can. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have suggestions along those sort of lines? Anything to do with any of the words up there? (transition, awakening, devouring, flame) Or along the lines you were already thinking before I rambled? :stuck_out_tongue:
