8 week old baby - name change?

Keep the name it is SO cute! We know two Evas and they don’t have issues with being called [name]Ava[/name]. [name]Jane[/name] just does not flow with it in my opinion, and I agree with the others that in time everyone that matters will get it right. We named our oldest [name]Madelyn[/name] and while its not a big deal lots of people called her [name]Madeline[/name]…to me a very diffrent name or they would try to call her [name]Maddy[/name] which we have never used. I simply would say "[name]Madelyn[/name] and stress the [name]Lynn[/name] sound or correct them when they called her [name]Maddy[/name] if they were someone that mattered (strangers that I would never see again I just let it go). She is now almost 6 and she corrects people if they call her [name]Maddy[/name] with “My name is [name]Madelyn[/name]” she is not a fan of [name]Maddy[/name] and as for the line at the end everyone that is improtant gets it right  Our third daughter is [name]Clayre[/name], my husband was worried about it getting pronounce wrong and spelled wrong but again everyone who matters gets it right…there are a few misspellings but not enough to bother us…most like the alternate spelling.

Good luck with whatever you choose! Keep us posted on your choice

Could you change it to [name]Evalyn[/name]? “This is [name]Evalyn[/name]. We calle her [name]Eva[/name]!” Is a fairly easy way to introduce her. Thats how we introduce my girl. (Different name and nickname though. )

[name]Eva[/name] [name]Shalom[/name] is an absolutely beautiful name! I agree with others, most people will pronounce [name]Eva[/name] the ‘normal’ way with a long E. IN fact it wouldn’t have occured to me that it could be confused with [name]Ava[/name]. Here in the Uk they are both distinctive and different names. And I love [name]Eva[/name], beautiful and far more interesting than the increasingly used [name]Ava[/name].

I also think her name flows beautifully and doesn’t work quite as well if you put [name]Jane[/name] at the beginning?

This thread is two years old:)

I can see how they’d get mixed up. My daughter is an [name]Ava[/name] and pronounced “Ay-va” not “[name]Ah[/name]-va”. Only older people mention “[name]Ah[/name]-va” when I say [name]Ava[/name] - as they’re obviously referring to [name]Ava[/name] [name]Gardner[/name] but they don’t call her anything other than how I pronounce her name. Also - the name [name]Eva[/name], to me it is “Ee-va” and “Eh-va” would be spelled “Ehva” if someone really wanted to…

I vote for keeping it. I pronounce [name]Eva[/name] with a long e unless told differently.
