I’m going crazy trying to find a name for my son due in [name_u]July[/name_u]. I’ve added extra pressure because I have convinced myself that we must end his name with an “N” because of the 3 older kids. My husband has two boys named [name_u]Logan[/name_u] and [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]. Then he and I have our daughter [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f] and this little man due in [name_u]July[/name_u] will finalize our crew.
We don’t care for names that are super common ([name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Kevin[/name_m], [name_m]Alan[/name_m], etc). I prefer a name that has a “real” nickname (like we call my daughter both [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]) instead of a sound (example of my step sons, Loag and Hayd). If this babe was a girl, we would be using [name_f]Kailyn[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], if that gives any further insight.
Suggestions for good N ending names? Am I going crazy for no reason and should just break the N trend? Please help this mama!!!
Actually, anything ----son. Because that hasn’t been used, that’s what I would be leaning towards. [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]? Nickname [name_m]Harry[/name_m]?
I don’t think it’s necessary to have this one end in-n also, but there are alot of great boy’s names out there that do end with n. My first thought was [name_u]Easton[/name_u]. Or: [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_m]Bronson[/name_m], [name_u]Paxton[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], [name_u]Peyton[/name_u], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] or [name_m]Kingston[/name_m].
[name_u]Free[/name_u] yourself from the pattern. Reasons:
it won’t make you happy having 4 kids ending in -n (unless you find a name you truly love)
it won’t make your kids feel more connected in any way
The -n ending is such an arbitrary rule that it makes no sense for me to convince yourself of trying to stick to it.
A friend of mine did this with all of her girls- convinced herself that they must all end in -ia. She now has 4 girls and says she regrets all of their names. I watched her pick the name for her last one and it wasn’t even about what names she liked, she was just driven by needing to keep up the pattern.
I understand your reasoning of keeping a pattern. I’m the same. Luckily, there are tonnes of names out there ending in -n. I like the first suggestion of names ending in -son. [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] nn [name_m]Harry[/name_m] or [name_m]Harris[/name_m] is a gem!
If you were going to use [name_f]Kailyn[/name_f] for a girl, why not [name_m]Kylen[/name_m] for a boy, with [name_u]Kyle[/name_u] as a nn?
Other suggestions…
[name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f], and [name_m]Kason[/name_m]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f], and [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f], and [name_m]Bowen[/name_m]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f], and [name_u]Mason[/name_u]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f], and [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f], and, [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f], and [name_m]Nathan[/name_m]
I dont want to add any more patterns to your sibset and confuse things for you, but I think an -on ending would be pretty cool since you’d have an -an, -en, -yn, and -on! But that could just be my OCD
I do understand wanting a pattern as we have a pattern of using the alphabet to name our kids, each name has to have a wonderful meaning, and we also have the rule that we won’t ever use the same ending. I guess the ideal is that the pattern doesn’t create so much constriction that you aren’t happy in the end, happiness is key! I think there are enough names ending with -n that you should find something you love!
Funny enough, I’m looking for an opposite name! We’re due with #3 soon and want a name that doesn’t end in the same sound as our other two ([name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]). I do agree with having a real nickname, I like that too.
My favourites for you would be name_m][name_m]Nathan[/name_m][/name_m],[name_m]Jackson[/name_m], name_m][name_u]Emerson[/name_u][/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastien[/name_m]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] name_m][name_u]Hudson[/name_u][/name_m] could work!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]! My favourite boy name ending in ‘n’ is [name_m]Theon[/name_m], but since that doesn’t seem to be your style, I also quite like [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] ‘[name_u]Toby[/name_u]’.
