A Bit Frantic.... Help Please!

I am two days late with my period, and took a pregnancy test this morning. The control line showed up with a purpley/pink color. The test line didn’t show up with color, but you can still see a line there. Almost like it was a really clean white line, and all around it looked not as white. I have never seen that before, and am wondering if that is what a faint positive would look like? I am really excited and nervous all at the same time and would love a little insight! Thanks!

Take another one! When I was first pregnant with my son I had two false negatives, and one similar to what you’re describing. It took a trip to Family Planning for me to confirm, but another test may give you your answer! Good luck!!!

I know that with my pregnancy tests, a faint positive was usually a very faint pink line. It’s possibly just something up with the test. As Kalebsmom said, I would take another one before I panicked too much. Perhaps take a digital one such as Clear [name]Blue[/name] if you can afford it so there can be no misreading of a false positive?

Good [name]Luck[/name] & I hope you get the outcome you want!

Wait 3 days before you test again. And use pink dye, no blue. Good luck.

Yes, definitely use the pink dye and not the blue. This happened to me, too. I saw the faint line, but didn’t think anything of it. I didn’t even tell my husband. Then, the next day, when I still hadn’t gotten my period, I did a little research and learned that a line is a line, no matter how faint. I took a pink ink test the next day, one with that made a plus sign, and it was positive! Good luck!!

From my experiences, and my friends experiences I suppose, false negatives are very likely but false positives just don’t happen. If there was a line, even the faintest line, you’re most likely pregnant. Unless you have a hormonal disorder or are taking some crazy pharmaceuticals that would cause a false positive on a pregnancy test. But I also remember almost psyching myself into thinking I saw a line when I really didn’t a few times. I would just go buy another test and use it first thing in the morning.

You could definitely be pregnant, and you should take another test in a couple days if your period doesn’t show.

It is possible that it could be what they call an “evaporation line,” particularly since you describe it as colorless, rather than faint. You can Google it, but basically an evaporation line tends to be a colorless line that can appear in the test window as your urine dries on the test. It’s not a false positive–which is very rare–it’s more of a test error. Test again in a day or so, and you should know for sure.

Good luck! I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.

thanks everyone! third day after I expected my period, and still nothing! I tested again this morn and got the same thing as yesterday… I cant tell if itd a faint line or an evaporation line! i see it less than 10 mins after I take the test so im doubtful it is evaporation. I HAVE been getting some typical pms symproms like night sweats and moodiness, and mild cramping. so maybe ill just be really late? but it is so unlike me to be this late! the past three months ive statted around the same time… averaging a 25/26 day cycle. now im day 28/29. Ahh this is so nerve wracking!!!

A lot of women sometimes have a cycle that’s irregular. I know that I do on occasion (it’s happened twice). The irregular cycles for me are a week later than usual.

Have you gotten the white line on multiple brands of tests or is this just one pack?

A very very faint line is absolutely still a positive pregnancy test, but it’s the “white line” part that’s a little odd. If you are in fact pregnant, the line really should gradually darken if you wait and test again in a few days. If you can’t wait, I’d try a different brand of test and see if the same thing happens or if you get a clearer answer. [name]Hope[/name] you get the result you’re looking for!

I got it on two different tests, same brand. I thought maybe it was an evap line, but i can see it within minutes after i take the test. Today is day 4 and still no period has showed up! I think I will try a different brand test tomorrow morning.

I had a very faint line when I was pregnant with my son…keeping my fingers crossed for you!

With her first pregnancy, my [name]SIL[/name] had a hard time getting a conclusive result from a pregnancy test until she used a digital. They’re more expensive, though, and not quite as sensitive, so I wouldn’t rush into buying one, but it is something to consider. (I believe my [name]SIL[/name] had a week’s worth of maybe/maybe not tests under her belt before she broke down and bought a digital.)
