A BookButterfly BNG: Part 1

Part 1
Your name is [name_u]Zandy[/name_u] and you are a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. Your dad, [name_m]Brian[/name_m], died when you were ten years old and your little sister, [name_f]Zariah[/name_f], was seven. Your mother, [name_f]Carolee[/name_f], has recently remarried a man named [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. He is also widowed and has a daughter that is the same age as you, named [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]. After the wedding, you, your mom, and [name_f]Zariah[/name_f] move from [name_m]Boston[/name_m], Massachusetts to [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]'s house in [name_u]Albany[/name_u], [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m]. You are not the least bit happy about it. You like your stepfather well enough, but you can’t stand [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].

On your first day at your new school, you see a boy sitting by himself in the cafeteria at lunchtime. You remember his name is [name_u]Bradley[/name_u], he’s a senior, and in three of your classes. He’s cute but doesn’t talk much. The first time you did hear him speak, you noticed he had a Southern accent. You go sit with him. He’s surprised. It takes a few days, but he finally warms up to you. [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] tells you that his family moved to [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] from [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f] after [name_f]Hurricane[/name_f] [name_f]Katrina[/name_f]. His parents decided to stay. The two of you become friends–and you discover you’re one of the few he has.

Two weeks before school lets out, a friend of yours, [name_f]Raya[/name_f], talks you into going to an unsupervised party at another friend’s house on a [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] night. An hour into the festivities and you’re bored out of your mind. You go outside to the patio in the backyard to call your mom for a ride home. On the back porch, sitting by himself, you see your guy friend [name_u]Bradley[/name_u], nursing a beer. You didn’t realize he was here so you go over to him. Like you, he was also dragged to the party by another mutual friend of yours. You ask him if he’d like to leave with you and he agrees. You take his car, but you’re the one driving–he’s had a few drinks. The two of you go to the nearest ice cream shop and order a sundae for the two of you to share. While you’re eating at a table outside in the warm mid-summer night, [name_u]Bradley[/name_u], who’s recently graduated, thanks you for being his friend and “putting up” with him. Without thinking, you lean across the table and kiss him. Before you know it, he’s taking your hand, leading him back to his car, getting into the backseat, and…

You and [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] don’t talk about what happened that night. You want to, and you’ve let him know you want to be more than friends with him, but he rejects you. You’re hurt and angry. You refuse to speak to him and ignore all the phone calls, e-mails, and text messages he sends you. A week after school ends, you start feeling sick, but brush it off as a cold…until you realize your period is late. You don’t believe you’re pregnant, but you buy a pregnancy test anyway, for a peace of mind. It comes back positive! You start to panic. You’re not sure of what to do. You hide the test in your bedroom and go to work, hoping to buy time to work out a plan. You’re against abortion, so that’s out. Adoption is an option you like, but you’re not sure if that’s really what you want. When you get home, [name_f]Zariah[/name_f] runs to you. She tells you [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] found the pregnancy test in your bedroom and told your mother and stepfather. She asks you if it’s true, are you pregnant? You burst into tears and say, yes, it’s true. She goes inside with you to help you face your mother. Your mother is furious and disappointed in you. She demands to know who the father is. You tell him the father is [name_u]Bradley[/name_u], which makes her even madder, because she really didn’t like him. She sends you to your bedroom and orders you to stay there for the rest of the night. Later, [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] comes upstairs. He says he’s not happy about the situation, but promises to be there for you in whatever decisions you make. The next day, your mother comes to you, crying. She says she’s sorry for the way she acted and, like your stepfather, promises she’ll be supportive.

[name_f]Zariah[/name_f] asks you if you told the baby’s father yet. You say no, you haven’t and you’re not sure you want to. She says he at least has a right to know. You can’t help but agree with her. The truth always comes out, and it might not be in a way you want it to. But you’re not sure how to tell [name_u]Bradley[/name_u]. You decide to tell him in a face to face confrontation.

You get in your car and drive to his house. You pull into the driveway to find him in the front yard, mowing the lawn. He’s surprised and happy to see you. You get out of the car. Your feelings must show on your face because he asks you what’s wrong. You come straight out with it: you’re pregnant. He’s stunned. You tell him you’re going to have the baby, and that you’re thinking you might keep it. You say he can be as involved or uninvolved in the child’s life as he wants. He takes you in his arms and hugs you tight, saying he’s sorry he wasn’t careful that night and he wants the baby. You can’t help it. You cry into his shoulder.

[name_u]Bradley[/name_u] goes away to college, but keeps in touch and comes back home to see how you’re doing and goes with you to doctor’s appointments whenever he can. You’re busy with your senior year, working and studying. You got an early acceptance to Purdue University, majoring in veterinary medicine. You’re little sister and stepfather are being helpful, but you’re mother is stressed out and your stepsister is being difficult. After a heated argument, your mother forces you out of the house, but your [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] intervenes. After the incident, you turn to [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] and his family for support. He wants to help, but he’s been living on the college campus and hasn’t been able to get a place of his own. The only person from his family that seems to care is his widowed seventy-eight-year-old maternal grandmother, [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. She offers you come live with her until the baby is born. You accept and move in with her. She’s very good to you. [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] comes home for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] break and takes you to a doctor’s appointment. You wanted to keep the gender a surprise, but excitement gets the better of you. You find out you’re having a baby girl! While he’s home for the holidays, you, him, and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] create the spare bedroom into the baby’s nursery.

Four months later, you give birth to the baby. [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] holds your hand the entire time. You see his eyes light up when he lays eyes on his beautiful, healthy baby girl, and you know you did the right thing telling him the truth. The two of you couldn’t pick a first name, but you settled on a middle name: [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], or a variation of it, to honor your baby daddy’s grandmother. You let your little sister pick a first name. The baby is named [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].

You graduate from high school and you’ve moved in with [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] permanently. [name_f]Ada[/name_f]'s father helps out, visits almost daily, and calls just as much. He buys his own place close to the college campus and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]'s house after he finishes his freshman year of college. The two of you are closer than ever now that you’re [name_f]Ada[/name_f]'s parents. But you’ll never be more than friends…which is probably the best way.

Your name is [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Aster[/name_f] [name_m]Hall[/name_m] and you are a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. On the back porch, sitting by himself, you see your guy friend [name_m]Johnson[/name_m], nursing a beer. While you’re eating at a table outside in the warm mid-summer night, your friend, who’s recently graduated, thanks you for being his friend and “putting up” with him. Without thinking, you lean across the table and kiss him. Before you know it, he’s taking your hand, leading him back to his car, getting into the backseat, and…

You and [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] don’t talk about what happened that night. When you get home, your little sister runs to you. She tells you [name_f]Lillie[/name_f] found the pregnancy test in your bedroom and told your mother and stepfather. She asks you if it’s true, are you pregnant? You burst into tears and say, yes, it’s true. She goes inside with you to help you face your mother. Your mother is furious and disappointed in you. She demands to know who the father is. You tell him the father is [name_m]Johnson[/name_m], which makes her even madder, because she really didn’t like him. She sends you to your bedroom and orders you to stay there for the rest of the night. Later, your stepfather comes upstairs. He says he’s not happy about the situation, but promises to be there for you in whatever decisions you make. The next day, your mother comes to you, crying. She says she’s sorry for the way she acted and, like your stepfather, promises she’ll be supportive.

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] asks you if you told the baby’s father yet. You say no, you haven’t and you’re not sure you want to. She says he at least has a right to know. You can’t help but agree with her. The truth always comes out, and it might not be in a way you want it to. But you’re not sure how to tell ([name_m]GUY[/name_m] [name_m]FRIEND[/name_m]'S NAME).
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you tell your baby’s father you’re pregnant?
—A face-to-face confrontation—

What’s his reaction? Go with the letter you chose.
A: You get in your car and drive to his house.

[name_m]Johnson[/name_m] goes away to college, but keeps in touch and comes back home to see how you’re doing and goes with you to doctor’s appointments whenever he can. You’re busy with your senior year, working and studying. You got an early acceptance to University of [name_u]Memphis[/name_u], majoring in Nursing. You’re little sister and stepfather are being helpful, but you’re mother is stressed out and your stepsister is being difficult. After a heated argument, your mother forces you out of the house, but your stepfather intervenes. After the incident, you turn to your baby’s father and his family for support. [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] comes home for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] break and takes you to a doctor’s appointment.

[name_m]Johnson[/name_m] holds your hand the entire time.
Your sister chooses a name.

What is your daughter’s name?
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]

You graduate from high school and you’ve moved in with [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] permanently. Your daughter’s father helps out, visits almost daily, and calls just as much. He buys his own place close to the college campus and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]'s house after he finishes his freshman year of college. The two of you are closer than ever now that you’re [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]'s parents. But you’ll never be more than friends…which is probably the best way.

Your name is [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_m]Hernandez[/name_m] and you are a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. Your dad, [name_m]Enrique[/name_m] [name_m]Julius[/name_m] [name_m]Hernandez[/name_m], died when you were ten years old and your little sister, [name_f]Ines[/name_f] [name_f]Josefina[/name_f] [name_m]Hernandez[/name_m], was seven. Your mother, [name_f]Carla[/name_f] [name_f]Marta[/name_f] [name_m]Baker[/name_m], has recently remarried a man named [name_u]Curtis[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Hart[/name_m]. He is also widowed and has a daughter that is the same age as you, named [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Claudette[/name_f] [name_m]Hart[/name_m]. After the wedding, you, your mom, and your sister move from [name_m]Boston[/name_m], Massachusetts to your new stepfather’s house in [name_u]Albany[/name_u], [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m]. You are not the least bit happy about it. You like your stepfather well enough, but you can’t stand [name_f]Amy[/name_f].

On your first day at your new school, you see a boy sitting by himself in the cafeteria at lunchtime. You remember his name is [name_m]Brent[/name_m] [name_m]Anders[/name_m], he’s a senior, and in three of your classes. He’s cute but doesn’t talk much. The first time you did hear him speak, you noticed he had a Southern accent. You go sit with him. He’s surprised. It takes a few days, but he finally warms up to you. He tells you that his family moved to [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] from [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f] after [name_f]Hurricane[/name_f] [name_f]Katrina[/name_f]. His parents decided to stay. The two of you become friends–and you discover you’re one of the few he has.

What’s his reaction? It takes you three days, but eventually [name_f]Orly[/name_f] consents to giving the news to your baby’s father. She leaves around noon to walk the two blocks to his house. For an hour, you’re pacing around the living, anxious for your sister to call you. Around two o’clock, a car pulls into the driveway. It’s your baby’s father and your sister. They come inside the house. He’s pissed off at you for making your sister tell him you’re pregnant, that this is between you and him. You blow up in his face without really thinking about what you’re saying. He gives it right back and your sister flees from the room. Five minutes later, you realize what you’ve done and start crying. You say you’re sorry, you know you should have told him, but you were scared. You ask for his forgiveness and he accepts it. He understands and the two of you call a truce for the sake of your baby.

What is your daughter’s name? [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]

The two of you are closer than ever now that you’re [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]'s parents. But you’ll never be more than friends…which is probably the best way.

My name is [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] Whitmore and I am a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. My dad, [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] Whitmore, died when I was ten years old and my little sister, [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] Whitmore, was seven. My mother, [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (née [name_m]Grayson[/name_m]), had recently remarried a man named [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Hammett[/name_m]. He is also widowed and has a daughter that is the same age as me, named [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Britney[/name_f] [name_m]Hammett[/name_m]. After the wedding, my mom, my sister, and I moved from [name_m]Boston[/name_m], Massachusetts to my new stepfather’s house in [name_u]Albany[/name_u], [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Peter[/name_m] but can’t stand [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], so I was upset about the move.

On my first day at my new school, I saw a boy sitting by himself in the cafeteria at lunchtime. I recognized him as the senior in three of my classes, [name_m]Chad[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_u]Kingsley[/name_u]. He was cute but didn’t talk much. The first time I did hear him speak, I noticed he had a Southern accent. I went to sit with him. It took a few days, but he finally warmed up to me. He told me that his family moved to [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] from [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f] after [name_f]Hurricane[/name_f] [name_f]Katrina[/name_f]. We became friends, and I discovered I was one of the few friends he had.

Two weeks before school let out, a friend of mine, [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] [name_m]Matthews[/name_m], talked me into going to an unsupervised party at another friend’s house on a [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] night. An hour into the festivities and I was bored out of my mind. I went outside to the patio in the backyard to call my mom for a ride home. On the back porch, sitting by himself, I saw [name_m]Chad[/name_m] nursing a beer. I didn’t realize he was there so I went over to him. Like me, he was also dragged to the party by another mutual friend. I asked him if he’d like to leave with me and he agreed. I took his car, but I drove since he’d had a few drinks. The two of us went to the nearest ice cream shop and ordered a sundae to share. While we were eating at a table outside in the warm mid-summer night, [name_m]Chad[/name_m], who had recently graduated, thanked me for being his friend and “putting up” with him. Without thinking, I leaned across the table and kissed him. Before you know it, he took my hand, leading me back to his car, climbed into the backseat, and…

[name_m]Chad[/name_m] and I didn’t talk about what happened that night. I wanted to, and I let him know that I wanted to be more than friends with him, but he rejected me. I felt hurt and angry. I refused to speak to him at school and ignored his phone calls and text messages. A week after school ended, I started feeling sick, but brushed it off as a cold…until I realized my period was late. I didn’t want to believe I was pregnant, but I took a pregnancy test just in case and panicked when it showed positive. I didn’t know what to do but hid the pregnancy test in my room while I tried to think of a solution. One day, I got home and my little sister [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] ran up to me saying that our step-sister [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] had found the pregnancy test in my room and told my mom and stepdad. She asked me if I was really pregnant and I burst into tears, admitting to her that I was. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] helped me approach my mom, who was furious and disappointed. I admitted the father was [name_m]Chad[/name_m], which angered her further because she didn’t like that I had been hanging out with an older guy. She sent me to my room for the rest of the night. My stepfather came to me a few hours later saying that although he too was disappointed, he and my mom would support me no matter what.

The next day, [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] asked me if I had told [name_m]Chad[/name_m]. I admitted that I hadn’t, and she encouraged me to tell him the truth. I decided a face-to-face confrontation was the best way to relay the news, even though I had been avoiding him the past few weeks. I drove to his house and found him mowing the lawn in his front yard. He was surprised yet excited to see me but noticed something was wrong. I told him I was pregnant, and although he was shocked, he wrapped me in a big hug and promised he would help me take care of our baby.

That fall, [name_m]Chad[/name_m] started college at Tulane University but stayed in contact with me and went to doctor’s appointments with me when he had breaks from school. I had gotten an early acceptance to [name_m]Boston[/name_m] College, where I hoped to major in journalism. Still, keeping up with my schoolwork while pregnant was challenging, and the situation was causing tension in my family. My step-father and sister were supportive, but my mom felt stressed out, and [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] was particularly rude. One night, my mom and I got into a bad argument, and she suggested I move out. My stepfather tried to intervene, but I felt hurt and frustrated. I reached out to [name_m]Chad[/name_m] to see if his family would support me. Since [name_m]Chad[/name_m] was living in [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans in a dorm room, I couldn’t live with him, and his parents didn’t like the idea of me staying with them. The only person who seemed truly emphathetic towards me was [name_m]Chad[/name_m]'s maternal grandmother, [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], who lived alone in a two-bedroom house in [name_u]Albany[/name_u]. I moved into her spare bedroom temporarily to get away from my family. When [name_m]Chad[/name_m] came home for winter break, he, [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], and I started turning the spare room into a nursery for the baby. I had originally wanted to keep the gender of our child a surprise but was too excited. At our [name_u]December[/name_u] doctor’s appointment, we found out we were having a girl!

Four months later, in [name_f]April[/name_f], I gave birth to our daughter over [name_m]Chad[/name_m]'s spring break - the timing worked out perfectly! We had agreed to give our daughter the middle name [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] to honor and thank [name_m]Chad[/name_m]'s grandmother for her support. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] helped me pick out her first name, [name_f]Leila[/name_f]. So our daughter’s full name is [name_f]Leila[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_u]Kingsley[/name_u]-Whitmore.

I will remember the look on [name_m]Chad[/name_m]'s face when he held our daughter for the first time. Although I knew we would never have a romantic relationship, I was thankful to have [name_m]Chad[/name_m] as my best friend and co-parent.

Your name is [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and you are a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. Your dad, [name_m]Warren[/name_m] [name_u]Eliott[/name_u], died when you were ten years old and your little sister, [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], was seven. Your mother, [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u], has recently remarried a man named [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. He is also widowed and has a daughter that is the same age as you, named [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. After the wedding, you, your mom, and your sister move from*[name_m]Boston[/name_m], Massachusetts to your new stepfather’s house in*[name_u]Albany[/name_u], [name_m]New[/name_m][name_m]York[/name_m]. You are not the least bit happy about it. You like your stepfather well enough, but you can’t stand [name_f]Georgia[/name_f].

On your first day at your new school, you see a boy sitting by himself in the cafeteria at lunchtime. You remember his name is [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], he’s a senior, and in three of your classes. He’s cute but doesn’t talk much. The first time you did hear him speak, you noticed he had a Southern accent. You go sit with him. He’s surprised. It takes a few days, but he finally warms up to you. He tells you that his family moved to [name_m]New[/name_m][name_m]York[/name_m]from[name_f]Louisiana[/name_f]after [name_f]Hurricane[/name_f][name_f]Katrina[/name_f]. His parents decided to stay. The two of you become friends–and you discover you’re one of the few he has.

Two weeks before school lets out, a friend of yours, [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], talks you into going to an unsupervised party at another friend’s house on a*[name_m]Saturday[/name_m]*night. An hour into the festivities and you’re bored out of your mind. You go outside to the patio in the backyard to call your mom for a ride home. On the back porch, sitting by himself, you see your guy friend [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], nursing a beer.

You and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] don’t talk about what happened that night. When you get home, your little sister runs to you. She tells you [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] found the pregnancy test in your bedroom and told your mother and stepfather. She asks you if it’s true, are you pregnant? You burst into tears and say, yes, it’s true. She goes inside with you to help you face your mother. Your mother is furious and disappointed in you. She demands to know who the father is. You tell him the father is [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], which makes her even madder, because she really didn’t like him. She sends you to your bedroom and orders you to stay there for the rest of the night. Later, your stepfather comes upstairs. He says he’s not happy about the situation, but promises to be there for you in whatever decisions you make. The next day, your mother comes to you, crying. She says she’s sorry for the way she acted and, like your stepfather, promises she’ll be supportive.*

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] asks you if you told the baby’s father yet. You say no, you haven’t and you’re not sure you want to. She says he at least has a right to know. You can’t help but agree with her. The truth always comes out, and it might not be in a way you want it to. But you’re not sure how to tell [name_m]Jackson[/name_m].*
[name_m]How[/name_m]do you tell your baby’s father you’re pregnant? You decide.
A: A face-to-face confrontation*

What’s his reaction? Go with the letter you chose.*
A: You get in your car and drive to his house. You cry into his shoulder.*

On the back porch, sitting by himself, you see your guy friend [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], nursing a beer.

You and [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] don’t talk about what happened that night. When you get home, your little sister runs to you. She tells you [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] found the pregnancy test in your bedroom and told your mother and stepfather. She asks you if it’s true, are you pregnant? You burst into tears and say, yes, it’s true. She goes inside with you to help you face your mother. Your mother is furious and disappointed in you. She demands to know who the father is. You tell him the father is [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], which makes her even madder, because she really didn’t like him.

[name_u]Alexis[/name_u] asks you if you told the baby’s father yet. You say no, you haven’t and you’re not sure you want to. She says he at least has a right to know. You can’t help but agree with her. The truth always comes out, and it might not be in a way you want it to. But you’re not sure how to tell [name_u]Jordan[/name_u].

[name_u]Jordan[/name_u] goes away to college, but keeps in touch and comes back home to see how you’re doing and goes with you to doctor’s appointments whenever he can. You’re busy with your senior year, working and studying. You got an early acceptance to [name_u]Albany[/name_u] College, majoring in pharmacy. You’re little sister and stepfather are being helpful, but you’re mother is stressed out and your stepsister is being difficult. After a heated argument, your mother forces you out of the house, but your stepfather intervenes. After the incident, you turn to your baby’s father and his family for support. [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] comes home for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] break and takes you to a doctor’s appointment.

[name_u]Jordan[/name_u] holds your hand the entire time. You let your little sister pick a first name; [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]

The two of you are closer than ever now that you’re [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]'s parents. But you’ll never be more than friends…which is probably the best way.

Your name is [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_u]March[/name_u] and you are a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. Your dad, [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]March[/name_u], died when you were ten years old and your little sister, [name_f]Aster[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] [name_u]March[/name_u], was seven. Your mother, [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] Comerford, has recently remarried a man named [name_m]Heath[/name_m] Comerford. He is also widowed and has a daughter that is the same age as you, named [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] Comerford. You like your stepfather well enough, but you can’t stand [name_f]Lillian[/name_f].

On your first day at your new school, you see a boy sitting by himself in the cafeteria at lunchtime. You remember his name is [name_m]Justin[/name_m] [name_m]Marcus[/name_m], he’s a senior, and in three of your classes.

The truth always comes out, and it might not be in a way you want it to. But you’re not sure how to tell [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m].
You end up getting your little sister to do it.

It takes you three days, but eventually your little sister consents to giving the news to your baby’s father. She leaves around noon to walk the two blocks to his house. For an hour, you’re pacing around the living room, anxious for your sister to call you.

[name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] goes away to college, but keeps in touch and comes back home to see how you’re doing and goes with you to doctor’s appointments whenever he can. You accept and move in with her. She’s very good to you. [name_u]Noah[/name_u] comes home for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] break and takes you to a doctor’s appointment.
Your sister chooses a name from one of these lists. You decide which one.

The two of you are closer than ever now that you’re [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]'s parents. But you’ll never be more than friends…which is probably the best way.

Your name is [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] [name_m]Fraser[/name_m] and you are a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. Your dad, [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] [name_m]Fraser[/name_m], died when you were ten years old and your little sister, [name_u]Addison[/name_u], was seven. Your mother, [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], has recently remarried a man named [name_u]Darren[/name_u] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u]. He is also widowed and has a daughter that is the same age as you, named [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]. You like your stepfather well enough, but you can’t stand [name_f]Juliana[/name_f].

On your first day at your new school, you see a boy sitting by himself in the cafeteria at lunchtime. You remember his name is [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] Michels, he’s a senior, and in three of your classes.

Two weeks before school lets out, a friend of yours, [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f], talks you into going to an unsupervised party at another friend’s house on a [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] night. An hour into the festivities and you’re bored out of your mind. You go outside to the patio in the backyard to call your mom for a ride home. On the back porch, sitting by himself, you see your friend [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], nursing a beer.

You and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] don’t talk about what happened that night. When you get home, your little sister runs to you. She tells you [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] found the pregnancy test in your bedroom and told your mother and stepfather. She asks you if it’s true, are you pregnant? You burst into tears and say, yes, it’s true. She goes inside with you to help you face your mother. Your mother is furious and disappointed in you. She demands to know who the father is. You tell him the father is [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], which makes her even madder, because she really didn’t like him.

[name_u]Addison[/name_u] asks you if you told [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] yet. You say no, you haven’t and you’re not sure you want to. She says he at least has a right to know. You can’t help but agree with her. The truth always comes out, and it might not be in a way you want it to. But you’re not sure how to tell him. Eventually, you call his cell phone. He answers on the second ring and is glad he’s finally heard from you. The two of you exchange pleasantries for five minutes before you cut in and say you have something to tell him. He asks what it is. You ask if he remembers what happened between you guys in the ice cream shop parking lot. He’s silent for a brief moment before he answers yes. You tell him you’re pregnant. The other end is so silent, you think he’s hung up. You turn off your phone and cry. Fifteen minutes later, the doorbell rings. You answer the door. It’s him. Impulsively, he asks you to marry him. You turn him down flat. He begs you not to shut him out, that he’s sorry he got you pregnant, but he wants to be a father to the baby and he wants to be your friend. You agree to let him.

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you tell your baby’s father you’re pregnant? A face-to-face confrontation

What’s his reaction?
You get in your car and drive to his house. You pull into the driveway to find him in the front yard, mowing the lawn. He’s surprised and happy to see you. You get out of the car. Your feelings must show on your face because he asks you what’s wrong. You come straight out with it: you’re pregnant. He’s stunned. You tell him you’re going to have the baby, and that you’re thinking you might keep it. You say he can be as involved or un-involved in the child’s life as he wants. He takes you in his arms and hugs you tight, saying he’s sorry he wasn’t careful that night and he wants the baby. You can’t help it. You cry into his shoulder.

Two weeks before school lets out, a friend of yours, [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], talks you into going to an unsupervised party at another friend’s house on a [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] night. An hour into the festivities and you’re bored out of your mind. You go outside to the patio in the backyard to call your mom for a ride home. On the back porch, sitting by himself, you see your guy friend [name_m]Ben[/name_m], nursing a beer.

You and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] don’t talk about what happened that night. When you get home, your little sister runs to you. She tells you [name_f]Leah[/name_f] found the pregnancy test in your bedroom and told your mother and stepfather. She asks you if it’s true, are you pregnant? You burst into tears and say, yes, it’s true. She goes inside with you to help you face your mother. Your mother is furious and disappointed in you. She demands to know who the father is. You tell him the father is [name_m]Ben[/name_m], which makes her even madder, because she really didn’t like him.
[name_u]Abby[/name_u] asks you if you told the baby’s father yet. You say no, you haven’t and you’re not sure you want to. She says he at least has a right to know. You can’t help but agree with her. The truth always comes out, and it might not be in a way you want it to. But you’re not sure how to tell [name_m]Ben[/name_m].
[name_m]Ben[/name_m] goes away to college, but keeps in touch and comes back home to see how you’re doing and goes with you to doctor’s appointments whenever he can. You’re busy with your senior year, working and studying. You got an early acceptance to UC [name_m]Irvine[/name_m], majoring in Human Resources. You’re little sister and stepfather are being helpful, but your mother is stressed out and your stepsister is being difficult. After a heated argument, your mother forces you out of the house, but your stepfather intervenes. After the incident, you turn to your baby’s father and his family for support. [name_m]Ben[/name_m] comes home for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] break and takes you to a doctor’s appointment.
[name_m]Ben[/name_m] holds your hand the entire time.
What is your daughter’s name? [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] “[name_f]Annie[/name_f]”
The two of you are closer than ever now that you’re [name_f]Annie[/name_f]'s parents. But you’ll never be more than friends…which is probably the best way.

Your name is [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] and you are a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. Your dad, [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Williams[/name_m], died when you were ten years old and your little sister, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m], was seven. Your mother, [name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m], has recently remarried a man named [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] [name_m]Anson[/name_m] Pugh. He is also widowed and has a daughter that is the same age as you, named [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] Pugh. You like your stepfather well enough, but you can’t stand [name_f]Lauren[/name_f].

On your first day at your new school, you see a boy sitting by himself in the cafeteria at lunchtime. You remember his name is [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Gardner[/name_u], he’s a senior, and in three of your classes.
