Due this week ([name]Valentine[/name]'s [name]Day[/name]) and still trying to come up with a boy’s name. We don’t know what we are having. My husband’s favorite name is [name]Jack[/name], but too popular for me. As is [name]Jackson[/name].

[name]Avalon[/name] is such a great name. Of course I think of Camelot when I hear the name [name]Avalon[/name]. Or I think of Anglo-[name]Saxon[/name], Welsh and even Irish and Scottish names.

[name]Anders[/name] - Scandinavian. Sounds Northern, breezy, and crisp like [name]Avalon[/name].
[name]Arthur[/name] - could be a middle name, so it’s less cutesy with [name]Avalon[/name]

[name]Roger[/name] - You could outhip the Hipsters and use this name. Makes me think of a mid-century modern knight if there were such a thing.

[name]Granger[/name] is my mom’s maiden name and I thought we could call him [name]Gray[/name].

My husband loves the band [name]Keane[/name].

My husband would be the only one who calls the baby [name]Jack[/name]. To the rest of us, he will be [name]Jasper[/name].

I love so many of these names, but don’t think the traditional or vintage ones work very well with [name]Avalon[/name]. I’m not sure if matching styles is important to you though, and if it’s not, there’s nothing wrong with that!

[name]Even[/name] though it’s vintage, I can honestly see [name]Dashiell[/name] with [name]Avalon[/name], especially with the nickname [name]Dash[/name]. I think it’s great! I love both [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Reeves[/name]. Of the surnames, I’ll vote for [name]Miller[/name] or [name]Granger[/name], nn [name]Gray[/name], because because of their meaning to you. [name]Miller[/name] [name]Jude[/name], [name]Granger[/name] [name]Eli[/name] and [name]Keane[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] all look like they’re backward, because the middles are all quite ordinary first names. With a last name as first name, I think a less common or longer middle is necessary.

[name]Avalon[/name] can go with either a new or old name. I don’t think [name]Nash[/name] or [name]Dash[/name] go well, but almost everything else mentioned could. Well, except [name]Zachariah[/name]. It’s the only blatantly Hebrew one mentioned so far, and I think your style is somewhat like mine (read: staying as far from Hebrew as possible).

I wouldn’t use [name]Jasper[/name] if he’d get the nickname [name]Jack[/name].

[name]Susan[/name]'s medieval-feel list made me think of [name]Roland[/name].
