hi, new here and I’m so glad ive found a place where people find baby names as fun as I do! I
Currently 4 months pregnant with my second and we’re expecting a boy this time. I’m having trouble nailing down a boy name and we would like to have this settled as we (my husband and I) like to call he baby by name and not just “the baby” to help us bond!
Anyway I love classic names and if this baby were a girl shed be [name]Alice[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] ([name]Margaret[/name] after my mom)
However boys are a bit harder: I like [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Desmond[/name], julian. [name]Oscar[/name], jack, miles, ewan, and [name]Theodore[/name].
I can’t use [name]Theodore[/name] for obvious reasons and my husband vetoed [name]Arthur[/name] (so sad!), miles, and ewan because he simy doesn’t like them. He’s south American and we’re living in Spain so those are factors to consider. [name]Oscar[/name] could be a great choice and I lime hat it has the subtle theme of the vowel beginning/r ending. [name]Julian[/name] would be pronounced hoolian here so that’s gone!
So that leaves us [name]Henry[/name], [name]Desmond[/name], and jack. I think jack is too popular but it’s such a solid name! I’m leaning towards [name]Henry[/name] but [name]Oscar[/name] is way up there too. [name]Desmond[/name] is sort of the ‘am i bold enough to use this name?’ name.
Middle name will be wade after a late uncle.
Any thoughts on this or suggestions? Sorry for the novel bit my husband said no more discussing this with him haha!
I really like [name]Henry[/name], [name]Desmond[/name] and [name]Oscar[/name]! I think all those are excellent choices. I like [name]Jack[/name], too, but I agree with you on the popularity.
I think [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] together are very classic, but a bit “safe” - maybe not quite boring but definitely safe. I personally like to go bolder with my naming style. [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Oscar[/name] sound fabulous together, but I don’t like the repeating “r” - however, if you like that, maybe that’s your best option. Anyway, my choice would be [name]Desmond[/name]! I think it’s an excellent name. Good luck, whatever you choose!
[name]Oscar[/name] would be my first choice out of those names, but I’m not sure about [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Wade[/name]. [name]Henry[/name] is nice, too, but I’ve heard that on so many little boys recently, it has lost some appeal. I’m not really a fan of [name]Desmond[/name], but I don’t think it’s too weird.
Small world! I also have a little [name]Eleanor[/name] and am trying to name our little boy! I love your choices, they are very similar to ours. We’re looking at [name]Henry[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Desmond[/name], [name]Stuart[/name] or [name]Malcolm[/name]. I’m also kicking around [name]Geoffrey[/name], but I can’t get hubby on board with that one.
I do like the name [name]Oscar[/name] (we can’t use it for a variety or reasons). I worry about [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] being too common/popular, although both are excellent names.
Good luck! We should keep in touch and see what the other comes up with!
Thanks so much for your feedback! All of my thoughts/concerns were echoed in your responses, particularly with the popularity of [name]Henry[/name] which is sure to keep on rising! [name]Oscar[/name] is a great name and I’m starting to lean more towards it but it may be hard to let [name]Henry[/name] go haha!
I love the name august (and nn [name]Gus[/name]) but my husband hates it, he wouldn’t go for [name]Agustin[/name] either. [name]Oliver[/name] has been considered but it’s also getting quite popular and I love the name [name]Benjamin[/name] but am not a fan of the spanish pronunciation at all, same goes for [name]Julian[/name]. There’s a name in the local language here, julen (possibly spelled yulen though) which is nice.
Iamgreek - let’s definitely keep in touch! [name]Eleanor[/name] was really an easy decision and this boy name is SO much harder! When are you due?
netappyng - I’m technically due Sept 5, but I’ll most likely have a scheduled c/s near the end of [name]August[/name]. When are you do? My [name]Eleanor[/name] will be 2 next month. A girl name would have been so much easier for us this time - her name would have been [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Anne[/name]. [name]Henry[/name] was our top pick for a boy when I was pregnant with [name]Eleanor[/name], now hubby has decided it’s too “common”. I’m just looking with something with some historical significance (like [name]Eleanor[/name]). sigh
