A brother for Georgie, Pippa and Hattie?

Hey Berries. I’ve lurked here for a few months and now am in need of your name sagacity naming my fourth child. My DH and I have three lovely girls named [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Cleo[/name] ([name]Georgie[/name]), [name]Philippa[/name] Esm” ([name]Pippa[/name]) and [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Luna[/name] ([name]Hattie[/name]). We lean toward serious sounding, old-fashioned first names with more modern middles. Our last name is one syllable and very common so we like names that are longer (the first two coincidentally were three syllables with a two syllable middle so we’ve sort of stuck to that pattern) and have nicknames that make the names “younger”. Our girls go by their nicknames about 75% percent of the time, so we must truly love the name and the nickname. We’re due in [name]December[/name] and we don’t know what we’re having. If it’s a girl we’ve pretty much decided on either [name]Rosaline[/name] [name]Isla[/name] ([name]Rosie[/name]) or [name]Augusta[/name] [name]June[/name] ([name]Gussie[/name]) -we’ll decide at the hospital- but for boys names we’re really stuck. We have a list but I’m not totally sure about any of them so I’d like to know what you think. Plus, any and all suggestions are welcome!

I [name]LOVE[/name] your names. Of the boys names, I particularly like [name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name]) and [name]Montgomery[/name] ([name]Monty[/name]).

[name]Augustus[/name] [name]Milo[/name] ([name]Gus[/name] or Auggie) - Not my favourite. I love the name, but none of the nicknames seem to be as great as your girls.

[name]Montgomery[/name] [name]Leon[/name] ([name]Monty[/name]) - I like this, [name]Monty[/name] is a great nickname. I don’t love [name]Montgomery[/name], it seems a bit harsh, but if you do great!

[name]Robinson[/name] [name]Noel[/name] ([name]Robin[/name] or [name]Robby[/name]) - I don’t like this. I love [name]Noel[/name] though!

[name]Archibald[/name] [name]Milo[/name] ([name]Archie[/name]) - My favourite! I think this sounds best with your girls names- and [name]Archie[/name] seems to go great with [name]Georgie[/name], while [name]Pippa[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name] are a bit similar… if you know what I mean. So I really think this is the perfect name!

[name]Percival[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] ([name]Percy[/name]) - Again, this is alright, not my favourite.

[name]Monty[/name], as it’s as distinctive as your girls’ names, has the same ee sound at the end but its own beginning sound.

[name]Theo[/name] feels more ordinary to me.

[name]Gus[/name] interferes with possible future female [name]Gussie[/name].

[name]Archie[/name] too commonplace in the UK, where I assume you live.

[name]Percy[/name] very cool though first initials same as [name]Pippa[/name]'s.

And whoops, the system sent before I could dispatch with [name]Robby[/name] etc, which as [name]Robby[/name] is too ordinary and [name]Robin[/name] too feminine to my mind. [name]Love[/name] [name]Robinson[/name] though!

I love your daughters’ names. I like [name]Rosaline[/name] [name]Isla[/name] for the new one if it’s a girl, and I love [name]Augustus[/name] or [name]Theodore[/name] if it’s a boy. Beautiful choices. :smiley:

I’ve always thought that [name]Philippa[/name]/[name]Pippa[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name]/[name]Hattie[/name] would make gorgeous sister names (and Georige/[name]Georgiana[/name] is beautiful too!). Of the two girls names you mentioned, you can’t go wrong with either, but I really love [name]Rosaline[/name] [name]Isla[/name]. [name]Rosaline[/name] is probably one of the most beautiful and underused [name]Rose[/name] names, plus [name]Rosie[/name] is such a sweet nickname. Onto the boys…

[name]Augustus[/name] [name]Milo[/name] ([name]Gus[/name] or Auggie) - I like [name]Augustus[/name], but I actually like [name]Augusta[/name] more, so if there’s a chance you really love [name]Augusta[/name] and would use it in the future I wouldn’t use [name]Augustus[/name]. Plus the nicknames aren’t as awe-inspiring as your girls.

[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Ezra[/name] ([name]Theo[/name]) - a great choice! [name]Theodore[/name] is such a handsome, distinguished choice and [name]Ezra[/name] is an awesome middle. I also really like that [name]Theo[/name] has a distinct ending from the other nicknames.

[name]Montgomery[/name] [name]Leon[/name] ([name]Monty[/name]) - this name takes guts to use but I like it. [name]Monty[/name] is cool and off-beat while [name]Montgomery[/name] has the “serious” sound you seem to like.

[name]Robinson[/name] [name]Noel[/name] ([name]Robin[/name] or [name]Robby[/name]) - I like [name]Robinson[/name] but I agree that the nicknames aren’t great.

[name]Archibald[/name] [name]Milo[/name] ([name]Archie[/name]) - I love this one! [name]Archie[/name] is so cute and [name]Arch[/name] is another option that is very cool.

[name]Percival[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] ([name]Percy[/name]) - I like [name]Percy[/name] a lot. [name]Percival[/name] is sort of a guilty pleasure name of mine that I don’t think I could actually use it. However, if you have the guts to use it, more power to you! The only thing is repeating first initials, if that bothers you.

Also, it’d be good to know where you’re located. If, like [name]Pam[/name] assumes, you’re in the UK, [name]Archie[/name] might not be the best option, but if you’re in the US (maybe NYC like “helenofbrooklyn” would imply?) then that’s a different story.

If you do go with [name]Augusta[/name] [name]June[/name] my nickname suggestions would be [name]August[/name] or [name]Junie[/name]. I think [name]Gus[/name]/[name]Gussie[/name] is a boy name and don’t flow with your three daughters.

As an insanely busy mom of three I haven’t had much time on the computer but now that it’s the weekend I plan on spending lots of time gathering info from here :slight_smile: I see many of you like [name]Montgomery[/name], which is currently my DH’s favorite- I like it too, so we might be getting somewhere! Someone asked where we are located- we currently live in [name]Brooklyn[/name], New [name]York[/name], though I was born in [name]England[/name] but grew up mostly in Los [name]Angeles[/name], and my husband was born and raised in [name]England[/name]. So that’s why our daughters have “British-sounding” names. Thanks again and keep 'em coming!

To me, [name]Ezra[/name] seems older. I know it’s just coming back into fashion now, and I love it, but to me it seems like the old name and [name]Theodore[/name] seems young–but then, I’m in the US (MA) and don’t know where you are ([name]Britain[/name], based on the name choices?) I think this is my favorite.
