[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! We are in the process of adopting a sibling group of 3: a 4 year old girl named [name_f]Janie[/name_f] ([name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]), an 18 month old boy named [name_m]Eli[/name_m] ([name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m]), and a 2 month old boy currently named [name_m]Zac[/name_m] ([name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]). [name_m]Even[/name_m] though we really like the name [name_m]Zac[/name_m] we are considering changing his name because it doesn’t flow with our last name ([name_m]Cole[/name_m]), since the ck sound is at the end of first name and beginning of last name. We don’t want to call him [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m].
Here are some of our top picks if we change his name:
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] ([name_u]Sam[/name_u])
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] ([name_m]Gabe[/name_m])
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] ([name_m]Nate[/name_m])
Or should we keep [name_m]Zac[/name_m], because we really do like it, even though it is clunky paired with our last name?
Thanks for any input!
I think because he’s 2 months old, you could change it. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] are great from your choices.
Alternatively, there’s [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] ‘[name_m]Zac[/name_m]’
As you’re keeping the other children’s names, I think it would be lovely to keep at least [name_m]Zac[/name_m] as a nickname. Whilst he may not remember, he could still ask questions when he’s older, and [name_f]Janie[/name_f] in particular might struggle to get used to her brother’s new name alongside all the other disruption in her life.
If you don’t like [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m], I like greyblue’s suggestion of [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]! [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a lovely combination, and you could also use [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Seth[/name_u], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is also similar in style and length to [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]: [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] & [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]/[name_f]Janie[/name_f], [name_m]Eli[/name_m] & [name_m]Zac[/name_m] sound lovely together.
Very exciting news! I think it is fine to give him a new first name but so as not to confuse his siblings too much, I would keep [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] as his middle name or both [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. Perhaps you like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] with the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]/Ted and then I would probably keep his name as is or switch the two around. [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]/Ted [name_m]Cole[/name_m] is cute. On your list I really like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], or [name_m]Simon[/name_m].
