A brother for Luke and Dex

We are having our 3rd boy in [name]September[/name] and are having the hardest time coming up with a name. Older brothers are [name]Luke[/name] [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Dex[/name] [name]Jacob[/name]. I feel like we hit it out of the park with [name]Dex[/name]…I [name]LOVE[/name] his name and I am having a hard time coming up with something to top it.

[name]Luke[/name] came up with the name [name]Griffin[/name] (because he’s a big [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] fan…Gryffindor house.) I like it but hubby does not. He doesn’t hate it but we’re not decided. Hubby likes [name]Shane[/name] and [name]Nolan[/name]. I don’t know. They are OK but I don’t really love them.

Some other names I’m considering:
[name]Beckett[/name]
[name]Colm[/name] (but probably not because my kids older kids can’t pronounce it…would sound like “Tawum”
[name]Ian[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name] (I think hubby has vetoed this one)
[name]Zane[/name]

Our last name is [name]Murphy[/name] so Irish names are good but nothing that ends in an “E” sound. And preferably nothing that starts with D,L or J.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

[name]Luke[/name] and [name]Dex[/name] are great. I especially love [name]Dex[/name]! So cool and hip. [name]Griffin[/name], [name]Shane[/name] and [name]Nolan[/name] are all nice, but I think a bit bland after [name]Dex[/name]. [name]Beckett[/name] has that cool factor, so I think it would go nicely with [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Dex[/name]. I also like [name]Colm[/name] and [name]Zane[/name], they’re short and sweet, like your other names. I’m not a huge fan of [name]Ian[/name]. Here are some other names you might like:

[name]Mac[/name] (could be short for [name]Malcolm[/name], which also has nn [name]Colm[/name])
[name]Cole[/name]
[name]Case[/name]
[name]West[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Liam[/name]
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Russell[/name]/[name]Russ[/name]
[name]Jett[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Clive[/name]
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Carter[/name]
[name]Blake[/name]
[name]Mason[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Ewan[/name]
[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

I really like [name]Jasper[/name] with [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Dex[/name]. I think it sounds great, but that would suck if your husband vetoed it.
Maybe [name]Finn[/name] instead of [name]Griffin[/name]? Since you guys already have two boys with one syllable names, that would be cool.

Some ideas:
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Chance[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name]/[name]Reese[/name]
[name]Jack[/name]
[name]Jake[/name]
[name]Joel[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Troy[/name]
[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Jett[/name]
[name]Colton[/name] nn [name]Colt[/name]
[name]Cameron[/name]
[name]Clayton[/name] nn [name]Clay[/name]
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Archer[/name] nn [name]Arch[/name]
[name]Ash[/name] or [name]Asher[/name] nn [name]Ash[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name] nn [name]Nate[/name]

Good luck!

I know a [name]Quinn[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]…[name]Do[/name] you like the sound of [name]Luke[/name], [name]Dex[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name]?

[name]Graeme[/name]/[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Stellan[/name]
[name]Cohen[/name]
Cowen
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]
[name]Roan[/name]
[name]Cullen[/name]
[name]Linden[/name]
[name]Brenden[/name]
[name]Alasdair[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Reuben[/name]
[name]Zachary[/name]
[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Adam[/name]
[name]Saul[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]

What do you think?

i have been thinking about your kids names all day, i really like them!
i think if you are trying to make your boys’ names sound good together you should go with a 2 syllable name. I like “freckles” suggestion for [name]Malcolm[/name] (mac) and [name]Cole[/name] or perhaps [name]Colton[/name]??

[name]How[/name] do you feel about [name]Rhys[/name]? I think it would be perfect with [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Dex[/name] (which I [name]LOVE[/name] together, btw!) To me it has the classic sound like [name]Luke[/name], with an added bit of quirkiness that fits right in with [name]Dex[/name].

Some others – Repeats mean I second the suggestions
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]/[name]Ash[/name]
[name]Thane[/name]
[name]Bram[/name]
[name]Grey[/name]
[name]Nico[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Kai[/name]
[name]Gus[/name]
[name]Theo[/name]
[name]Mac[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]/[name]Cal[/name]
[name]Dean[/name]

Of your possibilities, I think [name]Zane[/name] would go really nicely, as well as [name]Beckett[/name] nn [name]Beck[/name]. Good luck!

I like [name]Quinn[/name] but I feel like it’s being co-opted by the girls so I don’t really want to use it for a boy.

[name]Otto[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Ian[/name]
[name]Kyle[/name]
[name]Eric[/name]
[name]Stephen[/name]

My son’s name is [name]Hudson[/name] [name]Beckett[/name] and I ended up using [name]Beckett[/name] as a middle name out of fear of bullies calling my son [name]Becky[/name]. I love the name, but kids are mean. I like the suggestion of [name]Quinn[/name] or [name]Griffin[/name] with the NN finn. The one-syllable thing works, especially with your last name. Good luck!

I dont care if I repeat here, that just means they’re equally as great. I thought I’d toss a few similar names around with your last name and with the other boys to help out, trying to stick to similarities of what you have.

Names that’d sound good (including Irish, [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] and similar to your names list names):
[name]Fionn[/name] [name]Murphy/name
[name]Finnegan[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Brendan[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Quinlan[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Eoin[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] (Irish similar to [name]Iain[/name], pronunced [name]Owen[/name]; similar to [name]Nolan[/name])
[name]Callum[/name]/[name]Calum[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] (Similar to [name]Colm[/name] but easier to pronounce)
Laim [name]Murphy[/name] ([name]William[/name])
[name]Craig[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Kane[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] ([name]Cain[/name], [name]Kane[/name], [name]Kayne[/name]; similar to [name]Shane[/name])
[name]Cormac[/name]/Cormak [name]Murphy[/name] ([name]Cormac[/name] McLaggan, [name]Harry[/name] potter + Irish+ Similar to [name]Colm[/name] but easier to pronounce)
[name]Oran[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Zale[/name]/[name]Zayle[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Lyle[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] (I know you arent fussed on another L, but it works so nicely)
[name]Oscar[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
Oisín [name]Murphy[/name] ([name]Osheen[/name])
[name]Seamus[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] (Though sounds very Irish compared to [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Dex[/name])
[name]Jude[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Ross[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Pierce[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Blaine[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Roan[/name]/[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] (could be inspired by [name]Ron[/name], is Irish, goes well with murphy and [name]Luke[/name], [name]Dex[/name] and [name]Roan[/name])
[name]Isaac[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Shay[/name]/[name]Shae[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Reid[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]

From that list, I personally love: [name]Fionn[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]; [name]Eoin[/name] [name]Murphy[/name], [name]Callum[/name] [name]Murphy[/name], [name]Craig[/name] [name]Murphy[/name], [name]Kane[/name] [name]Murphy[/name], [name]Cormac[/name] [name]Murphy[/name], [name]Oscar[/name]/[name]Oskar[/name] [name]Murphy[/name], [name]Ross[/name] [name]Murphy[/name], [name]Roan[/name] [name]Murphy[/name], [name]Isaac[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] and [name]Reid[/name] [name]Murphy[/name].

From your list, I like [name]Ian[/name] but what about spelling [name]Iain[/name]?

If there’re any names on my list you like but aren’t quite right, let me know and I can try and think of more along the same lines. Good [name]Luck[/name] and congradulations on you little boy

Hello!! [name]Love[/name] your boy names! [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Dex[/name] are great, strong names. I have two boys as well and I am due in Dec. with another boy! My boys are:

[name]Nolan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Dylan[/name]

we are having a hard time finding a cool name to go with the other two so far we are liking

[name]Quinn[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]

However, I am a little hesitant because it seems like it is crossing over to the girls. BUT so MANY names are! The girls are stealing all the good boy names!! HA HA! ( [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Dylan[/name] etc…)

I think [name]Nolan[/name], [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name] sound like a great sub set!

Now for [name]Luke[/name], [name]Dex[/name] and…

I love

[name]Landon[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Jameson[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Grayson[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Shane[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]

All sound cool.

I think this boy should have a two syllable name, since you first two have a one syllable name.
Good [name]LUCK[/name]!!

[name]Griffin[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] sounds great too

[name]Griffin[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]!
