We’re expecting our second baby boy. He will be the younger brother of [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Osborn[/name_m] ([name_m]Nate[/name_m]) and we could use some help finding an equally beloved and fitting name for him.
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is our current front-runner. The downside: it’s a big name and we’re not in love with the obvious nicknames [name_m]Seb[/name_m], [name_m]Bas[/name_m] or [name_m]Baz[/name_m].
Other contenders:
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]Ian[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Sid[/name_m]
We also tend to like Scandinavian and [name_m]German[/name_m] names/variations.
For the middle name we’re considering [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] ([name_m]Bear[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m]) for its animal connection with [name_m]Osborn[/name_m] ([name_m]Bear[/name_m] God). There is also a strong family connection ([name_m]Osborn[/name_m] is my father’s middle name and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] was his father’s middle name).
Finally, our last name is a two-syllable [name_m]German[/name_m]/Czech name that begins and ends with P. We’ve eliminated all P first names as a result.
Help?!?! Any name and/or name combination ideas are very welcome!
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is such a strong name! From your list, I love [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. I love how [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] sounds with [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Osborn[/name_m], but if you are still unsure about [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], then some suggestions I have are:
I love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Osborn[/name_m]! Such a beautiful sibset. Another nickname option could be Bash, which is a less common nickname with a little more punch! I like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] from your list, both go well with [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].
Not sure if any of these are your style but hopefully you find the perfect name! Nicknames are quite important but don’t let it get you down. A lot of names can be worked with if you try. An aunt of my boyfriends had a little boy named [name_m]Warren[/name_m] and they call him [name_m]Manny[/name_m]! It all depends on how invested you are into the name. Good luck!
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is a lovely name! [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is often shortened to [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] in Germany which may be another option
Thank you all so much. These are great suggestions. [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], [name_m]Johann[/name_m] and [name_m]Mattias[/name_m] have all come up in our recent name discussions. And I’d never heard the nickname Bash for [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] so thanks for raising another option! We have a couple months still until this baby arrives so I’m very grateful for your insights as we go through the process.
