Finding it difficult to name our third boy!
Sibling names are [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Saul[/name] (nn [name]Ollie[/name]) and [name]Miles[/name] [name]Samuel[/name].
The current front runner for baby, due in [name]May[/name], is [name]Quincy[/name], with [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name] as not so close seconds.
Thoughts on [name]Quincy[/name]?
Middle name ideas?
[name]Both[/name] [name]Saul[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name] were grandparents that we named after but now there is no one left to name after so middle name options are wide open…
This is my first post on nameberry, any help would be appreciated!!
With such beautiful classics for the first two my natural matches would be:
- [name]Guy[/name]
- [name]Piers[/name]
- [name]Hugh[/name]
- [name]Charles[/name]
I like [name]Hugo[/name] as a fit and I love [name]Sebastian[/name] as a name but it is getting more and more popular so I am afraid to use it.
Good luck!
TBH I would go with [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], FN, MN. It keeps up with the S theme AND it an absolute stunner of a name! I adore it.
I think [name]Quincy[/name] is just OK… I know one who is [name]Quince[/name] and it’s just a bit… I dunno… [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] is a definite winner!
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Saul[/name] & [name]Miles[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] & [name]Claude[/name] [name]Spencer[/name] / [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Saul[/name] & [name]Miles[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] & [name]Florian[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] / [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Saul[/name] & [name]Miles[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] & [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Spencer[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Saul[/name] & [name]Miles[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] & [name]Julian[/name] [name]Spencer[/name] /[name]Sterling[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Saul[/name] & [name]Miles[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] & [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] / [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] is fine. NMS.
My son is [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Stewart[/name] so that is my suggestion but I am obviously biased.
Dang. Your super handsomely-named boys need a baby brother named [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]. That is one amazing name. [name]Hugh[/name] for short is a little more wearable.
[name]Quincy[/name] is not my favorite on paper but if I say it out loud, I actually kind of like it. [name]John[/name] [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Adams[/name] was not the greatest president ever though. Also, the meaning of [name]Hugo[/name] is MUCH better.
S names are my favorite so here are a few, just for inspirations sake: [name]Sterling[/name], [name]Sylvan[/name], [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Seaton[/name], [name]Sidney[/name], and [name]Sebastian[/name].
I second [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], it’s a great sibling match with your other names.
You might also want to consider some other biblical S- names as the middle…[name]Seth[/name], [name]Simon[/name], [name]Silas[/name], etc. (my favorite is [name]Solomon[/name] but that might be a little close to [name]Saul[/name]).
Not a huge fan of [name]Quincy[/name]. I like [name]Hugh[/name] better than [name]Hugo[/name].
[name]Quincy[/name] is a pretty solid name, though it’s not personally my style. I quite like the suggestion of [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], has a really like feel to it and having a ‘s’ middle name, though not at all necessary, does follow the ‘s’ MNs you’ve got already.
If I were naming a third boy, I’d keep in mind that [name]Miles[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] both have roots that are partially connected to Latin and partially connected to [name]German[/name] (according to behindthename.com), though neither sound particularly Latin nor [name]German[/name] (unfortunately I don’t have any name suggestions off-hand that have connections to both Latin and [name]German[/name]). [name]Both[/name] have a ‘classic’ feel to them, but don’t feel particularly ‘ancient’ or anything (like many other Latin names). [name]Both[/name] have qualities that makes them feel like very upstanding gentleman kind of names. And both are relatively common while not being overly so (in the US at least) ([name]Miles[/name] #115, [name]Oliver[/name] #78), and have been used relatively commonly for at least the past few generations (both have been with the top 600 since records began to be kept in 1880). And maybe this is stretching it a bit, but they even have Latin meanings that could be construed to have a relation ([name]Miles[/name] meaning ‘solider’ and [name]Oliver[/name] meaning ‘olive tree’ (olive branches being a common symbol of peace, and soldiers being ideally keepers of peace)). All this is to say that [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Miles[/name] share a lot of commonalities and connect together in sooo many different ways. It seems to me that it’d be pretty much impossible to get a third name that has so many awesome connections, but I’d probably try to find some that have as many cool connections like this as possible.
In a quick search, here’s one I found that has quite a few connections:
[name]Jeffrey[/name] ([name]German[/name] roots (according to behindthename.com), means ‘peace’, always been in the top 1000, but isn’t overly common now (at #246))
Other names that don’t sound nearly as many connections, but I think sound good next to [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Miles[/name] are:
[name]Sebastian[/name] (really like your choice with this one!)
[name]Hugo[/name] (solid choice as well)
[name]Julian[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Marcus[/name]
[name]Nolan[/name]
[name]Bradley[/name]
[name]Clayton[/name]
I love the suggestions of [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Nolan[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], and [name]Julian[/name].
I’d add:
[name]Pierce[/name] (I love that name.)
[name]Dashiell[/name] (Most people pronounce it [name]Dash[/name]-ul, my preferred pronunciation is Dasheel)
[name]Sheridan[/name]
[name]Orion[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name]
I love [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]. Or [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Solomon[/name] (although perhaps too many 'o’s).
I’m sorry but [name]Quincy[/name] is not doing anything for me with [name]Ollie[/name] and [name]Miles[/name].
I love [name]Guy[/name], [name]Quentin[/name] or [name]Hugo[/name] with your sons’ names. [name]Sebastian[/name] would be an excellent mn for [name]Hugo[/name].
I like the name [name]Quincy[/name]. Another post suggested the name [name]Charles[/name]. Have you considered [name]Charles[/name] [name]Quincy[/name]?
Wow, thank you for all the great suggestions and insight. I guess [name]Quincy[/name] is not so popular! I do love the combination [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], especially with the middle name “s” trend we started. I adore the way [name]Hugo[/name] looks in print but for some reason I find it harder to say, a bit too harsh when I say it out loud. Hmmmm… I like some of the other names suggested as well ([name]Julian[/name],
[name]Charles[/name], etc) but none are a fit for various reasons (already in the family, don’t work with our last name, etc ). So maybe I will keep trying to wrap my tongue around [name]Hugo[/name]! Any other new suggestions are welcome too, thank you!
I really do love [name]Hugo[/name] and think it fits the best with [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Miles[/name]. So here’s one more vote for [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] nn [name]Hugh[/name]. =]
I’m having a hard time picturing a [name]Quincy[/name] as a brother to [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Miles[/name]. [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] is much more complimentary to the names of your first two sons.
[name]Quincy[/name] is great! I also like [name]Quentin[/name]! [name]Hugo[/name] is lovely too! I am little bored of [name]Sebastian[/name] but it would probably make a nice middle name. [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] or [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] would be lovely!
