We are about three weeks away from our due date and we are stumped on what to name our little boy. Our son [name]Orson[/name]'s name is very meaningful to my husband and I it means bear, wild man of the woods, and [name]Chandler[/name] is my maiden name. We had chosen the name [name]Glover[/name] [name]William[/name] for this baby but now we’re unsure. I really don’t like that [name]Glover[/name] is a surname with no real meaning and [name]William[/name] is my husbands grandfathers name but we’d really like to use [name]Parker[/name] as his middle name ( my mothers maiden name) BUT [name]Glover[/name] [name]Parker[/name] sounds awful… We don’t like the double “ER” ending… Please help me!!!
Here is a list of names that we’ve made, my fave being, [name]Ingram[/name] [name]Parker[/name] [name]Luck[/name], but my husband hates it. I also love [name]Truman[/name] [name]Parker[/name] [name]Luck[/name]. My husband doesn’t really care for that either. He likes, [name]Grady[/name], [name]Glover[/name], [name]Nolan[/name], [name]Ryker[/name]…
What do you think of the names we have on this list??? And any other suggestions are more than welcome!
[name]Amias[/name]- loved
[name]Rockwell[/name]- rock spring
[name]Corbett[/name]- raven
[name]Truman[/name]- loyal one
[name]Ozias[/name]- salvation
[name]Ingram[/name]- [name]Raven[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name]-blessed
[name]Laszlo[/name]- glorious ruler
[name]Lonan[/name]- black bird
[name]Arliss[/name]- pledge
[name]Grady[/name]- noble
[name]Hollis[/name]- beyond the holly bushes
[name]Arlo[/name]- bare-berry tree
[name]Rocco[/name]- crow
[name]Wilder[/name]
[name]Obadiah[/name]- servant of god
[name]Nolan[/name]- champion
[name]Hodge[/name], hodges, hodgeson- roger, son of roger
Great list! [name]Orson[/name] [name]Chandler[/name] is a great name, by the way (and as a second by the way, your LN and my LN are almost the same).
[name]Glover[/name]- It’d definitely need to grow on me. I like [name]Grover[/name], but [name]Glover[/name] I don’t like as much.
[name]Ingram[/name]- Is an interesting choice. [name]New[/name] to me. I like it in theory, but it feels a little too similar to [name]Ingrid[/name] (sp?) for my taste. Gives it a bit of a feminine feel.
[name]Truman[/name]- Is a cool name, definitely has grown on me. But if your husband doesn’t like it, sounds unlikely.
[name]Amias[/name]- GREAT NAME!!! [name]One[/name] of my own top 4. I don’t understand why almost noone uses it. It’s got an excellent meaning, feels ancient, but just as usable as lots of other common-ish names in use nowadays ([name]Elias[/name], for example). This is the epitome of an underused gem.
[name]Rockwell[/name]- Not a fan.
[name]Corbett[/name]- I think I like [name]Corbin[/name]/[name]Corwin[/name] better. It’s okay though.
[name]Ozias[/name]- I quite like [name]Ozias[/name] and [name]Osias[/name] (I think I prefer [name]Osias[/name] though). Though, you’d be setting yourself for an ‘O’ name theme, if that bothers you.
[name]Benedict[/name]- I don’t like it.
[name]Laszlo[/name]- I like it, not as much as some of the others, but I do like it.
[name]Lonan[/name]- I thought about this one for awhile too, but I feel like it’s too similar to the very common [name]Logan[/name], almost gives it a feel of just a modified [name]Logan[/name].
[name]Arliss[/name]- I like it. I prefer [name]Arlo[/name], but this is nice.
[name]Grady[/name]- Not such a fan.
[name]Hollis[/name]- I like it, though I like [name]Arliss[/name] better.
[name]Arlo[/name]- I like it a lot. Feels friendly and down-to-earth.
[name]Rocco[/name]- I don’t like it much, though I do like [name]Roscoe[/name].
[name]Wilder[/name]- Not a fan.
[name]Obadiah[/name]- It’s okay, I definitely prefer [name]Ozias[/name]/[name]Osias[/name] though.
[name]Nolan[/name]- I like this name a lot a lot. There’s not a lot of top 100 names I’d consider using myself, this is very possibly the only one.
[name]Hodge[/name], etc- Not a fan. I like [name]Hodge[/name] the best of the three you mentioned, but I don’t like any of them much.
My favs: [name]Amias[/name], [name]Nolan[/name], [name]Ozias[/name], [name]Arlo[/name].
Thank you so much for your quick response! First thing I did when I woke up was log into nameberry. I really like your feedback on my list. My husband doesn’t like [name]Ingram[/name] for the exact reason so that lends a little credit to his dislike for me [name]Ingram[/name] and [name]Corbett[/name] are on the list because we’ve been looking for bird names for this baby. They both mean raven. Ravens are very popular in the city we live in and we’ll be moving across the country when the baby is two months old. [name]Hodge[/name] is on the list because my father’s name is roger and that is the meaning of hodge. I love [name]Ozias[/name] but we are not fond of an O theme. My husband has suggested using [name]Parker[/name] as his first name… To me that’s too common, we’ve also been toying with [name]Ben[/name] [name]Parker[/name] [name]Luck[/name] which is my grandfathers name, but I never thought I’d have a [name]Ben[/name] either.
I like the nature-related names for you, given the reasons behind your selection of [name]Orson[/name]'s name. My favorite would be [name]Wilder[/name], but not if you’re sure you want to use [name]Parker[/name] as the middle.
[name]Do[/name] you like the name [name]Holt[/name]? It means “son of the untamed forests” which fits well, and [name]Holt[/name] [name]Luck[/name] has a [name]Wild[/name]-west ruggedness to it.
I like [name]Corbett[/name], [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Rocco[/name] and [name]Lonan[/name] (never heard this name before) from your list due to the nature connections.
Today we decided to add [name]Boone[/name] to our list. It means a blessing which we both like. It’s my husbands idea, so that helps. We are high school sweet hearts from Oklahoma. Since we’ve been married we’ve not been in one place longer than 2 or 3 years and don’t have any real reason to go back. We live in AZ and are moving to [name]Boston[/name] in [name]August[/name]… With that being said we’ve been thinking about coming up with a good “okie” name. We like, [name]Woody[/name], [name]Norman[/name], [name]Boone[/name], Airo and [name]Wylie[/name], but [name]Boone[/name] is feeling really good. We really like the O in [name]Orson[/name]'s name but don’t want an O theme for our children… What do you think of these names? I think [name]Boone[/name] [name]Parker[/name] [name]Luck[/name] sounds pretty terrific.
I like [name]Boone[/name] on its own, but not with [name]Luck[/name]. Since [name]Luck[/name] is an everyday English word meaning, well, ‘luck,’ and a boon is a lucky blessing, or a gift, it’s kind of redundant.
I think [name]Wylie[/name] is a great Okie name and pairs well with [name]Orson[/name] (brings [name]Orson[/name] down to earth a bit).
That’s good feedback. Thanks. Seems like [name]Arlo[/name] is a favorite from our list… I’m not really digging the heavy L sound. [name]Arlo[/name] [name]Luck[/name]… I love [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Arliss[/name], [name]Hollis[/name], [name]Wylie[/name], love Lazslo, but I think with the last name [name]Luck[/name] we’re better off looking beyond the L sounds.
