A Brother For Viola

Looking to name [name_f]Viola[/name_f]'s (VIE-uh-la) little bro, due this [name_f]September[/name_f]. We have a one syllable last name, so a three-syllable first name flows beautifully, although it isn’t a “must” for us. So far we are crushing on:

[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]

Thoughts on the above and additional name suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Berries!

I’m mom to a [name_f]Viola[/name_f] as well, although we pronounce her name Vie-OH-la. Anyway, we sure have great taste!

I think [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is the perfect match for [name_f]Viola[/name_f]'s brother.

Although I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], I can’t help but find it a bit trendy in comparison to your daughter’s name. Also, as you have said, with a one-syllable last name, it’s best to go a bit longer .

Suggestions: [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], [name_m]Fabian[/name_m], [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], [name_m]Joachim[/name_m], [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] and [name_m]Olivier[/name_m].

Less than two syllables: [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_m]Florin[/name_m], [name_u]Tobin[/name_u], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], [name_m]Amos[/name_m], [name_m]Leon[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Florin[/name_m], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_m]Abram[/name_m], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], [name_u]Wallace[/name_u], [name_m]Winston[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].

I’m another vote for [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] with [name_f]Viola[/name_f] from your list-- the other names seem more modern and trendy. I like the suggestions above.

Some other possibilities:

[name_f]Viola[/name_f] and

[name_m]Abelard[/name_m]
[name_m]Amaury[/name_m]
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Bertram[/name_m]

[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]

[name_m]Gregory[/name_m]

[name_m]Julius[/name_m]
[name_m]Leopold[/name_m]
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_m]Rainier[/name_m]
[name_m]Reginald[/name_m]
[name_m]Roger[/name_m]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]

[name_m]Sylvester[/name_m]
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_m]Tristram[/name_m]
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
Wulfric

I’ve bolded ones I particularly like.

[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] - It has the same old-fashioned-but-not-your-grandma’s-name feel as [name_f]Viola[/name_f]. Also has the three syllables you’re looking for. Also, [name_m]Seb[/name_m] and [name_m]Baz[/name_m] are unique and relatively usable nicknames if your son ends up being not a fan.
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] - I like the name overall, but I it feels too modern to go with [name_f]Viola[/name_f].
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] - …so, he’s wilder than [name_f]Viola[/name_f]?
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] - Ditto [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]. This is trending for girls at the moment as well and it would seem rather odd with feminine [name_f]Viola[/name_f].
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] - Has enough unique flair to go with [name_f]Viola[/name_f]. I know a little [name_m]Archer[/name_m] who gets called “[name_m]Arch[/name_m]” and he’s adorable. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry about word associations (ie a person who shoots arrows or a rounded gateway). You probably didn’t even think of it until I brought it up, and I didn’t think of it either until I wrote the name down!
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m] - I prefer [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], but [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] works too. Masculine without being overbearing, accessible without being too unique. I live in [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]England[/name_f] so I associate it with an old [name_u]Red[/name_u] Sox player, but if you live elsewhere in the country you should be fine.
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] - Too soft and feminine for me. Prefer [name_m]Archer[/name_m].

You seem to like -er names. The problem is that they keep getting stolen by the girls! One that’s pretty unique and masculine is [name_m]Kiefer[/name_m] (prn kee-fer). Again, not super sure it goes with [name_f]Viola[/name_f], but it’s unique enough to be an option. Others (less unique) include [name_m]Booker[/name_m], [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], [name_u]Walker[/name_u], and [name_u]Parker[/name_u].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helped!

[name_f]Viola[/name_f] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] are gorgeous together!!!

From your list, I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], and [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. Other suggestions are…

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Holden[/name_m]
[name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_m]Turner[/name_m]
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]

Another vote for [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]! I love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] & [name_f]Viola[/name_f] together! From the other suggestions above two that jumped out that I like too are [name_m]Julian[/name_m] & [name_m]Xavier[/name_m].

[name_f]Viola[/name_f] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] flow well together, and are already a twinset: they are twins in [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]'s Twelfth [name_m]Night[/name_m]. That being said, if you’re a literary fan - go for it.

My personal fave with [name_f]Viola[/name_f] is [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m].
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] also fits well imo

I love [name_f]Viola[/name_f] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]! The connection to [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] is subtle but sweet if that’s your reasoning - if not, they still work together wonderfully!

From your list I also really like [name_f]Viola[/name_f] and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]. I’m not too sold on the other names. Whilst modern and classic names sometimes do work well together, I’m not sure if that’s the case here.

Have you considered: [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]?

We sure do have great taste! [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to thank you for your response and suggestions. [name_m]Julian[/name_m] is a nice contender as well
