Our son’s name is [name_u]Wilder[/name_u]. We’re due with our second child in [name_u]February[/name_u] and are having trouble selecting another boy name. We love [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] for so many reasons — literary and pop culture ties (Laura Ingalls [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] and [name_u]Gene[/name_u] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u], among others), nature vibes, and the fact that it’s strong and masculine.
Our top contenders for baby #2 tend to fall in the Western camp. If this is a boy, we’d like his middle name to be [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]. We also want to avoid names in the US top 100. Some names we are considering are:
-Ridge
-Barrett
-Hutton

[name_u]Wilder[/name_u] is a cool name. I really like [name_u]Ridge[/name_u] for his brother. It’s really unique yet simple. [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] is fine, but I kind of have an aversion to Barry; maybe it’s unavoidable? [name_u]Hutton[/name_u] is not my cup of tea; too similar to the super trendy [name_u]Hudson[/name_u].
[name_u]Wilder[/name_u] is a great name, & I love the associations you mentioned!
[name_u]Ridge[/name_u] is really intriguing! I’ve never heard it before, and it goes nicely with [name_u]Wilder[/name_u]. I also like previous commenters’ suggestions of [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]Rafe[/name_u], & [name_u]Kit[/name_u].
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] in particular has a great mix of nature & cultural references, which I think makes it an excellent match for [name_u]Wilder[/name_u]! It makes me think of the frontier, wilderness, foxes, etc.
