[name]Hi[/name] again everyone!
We just found out that #3 is a boy, which is fantastic…but we don’t have any names we agree on. Our other two are [name]Declan[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] and [name]Emmett[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. For this baby we have tossed around [name]Kason[/name], [name]Westley[/name], [name]Archer[/name], [name]Dakota[/name], [name]Oakley[/name], [name]Hallam[/name] and some other but none of them is THE name.
[name]Do[/name] you have any suggestions for us? We want the name to be fairly modern sounding, and it CAN’T be in the top 100, preferably not in the top 300 either. Middle name might be [name]David[/name], but we’re not 100% sure of that yet so anything goes.
[name]Kason[/name]: this is a “teen mom” name to me. It has the trendy K-substituted-for-a-C and just does not stand up well to the classic masculine feel of [name]Declan[/name] or stately [name]Josephine[/name].
[name]Westley[/name]: this is owned by the [name]Princess[/name] [name]Bride[/name]! It’s got a nice sound and rhythm, but he will spend a great deal of energy correcting people who hear it as the much, much more common [name]Wesley[/name].
[name]Archer[/name]: I think [name]Archer[/name] works well with your other children’s names. It’s a modern surname with strong sounds, but not too similar to [name]Declan[/name] or [name]Emmy[/name] to feel “matchy.” A real option.
[name]Dakota[/name]: another “teen mom” name-- the cowboy names were very big in the mid to late 90s, and they rapidly went downmarket. They are dated. Plus-- even though this name is in very wide use-- the [name]Sioux[/name] themselves said they felt offended by the appropriation of one of their tribal names, which would lead me to steer clear of it.
[name]Oakley[/name]: great choice in the same vein as [name]Archer[/name]. Strong sounds, a nice modern surname, with a bevy of cool, uncommon nicknames ([name]Oak[/name], [name]Hoke[/name], Okie)
[name]Hallam[/name]: this is quite unusual and I admit not having heard of it. It too has a nice sound, but the [name]Hall[/name]- names ([name]Halle[/name], [name]Hadley[/name], [name]Hayley[/name]) are all female, so I might steer clear of this one. In a sibset of [name]Declan[/name], [name]Emmett[/name] and [name]Hallam[/name], I would assume Hallum is the girl!
Some other options in a similar modern vein as [name]Declan[/name] and [name]Emmett[/name], and not too close to [name]Alex[/name]/[name]Chris[/name] (I included a lot of K sounds):
[name]Foster[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Keane[/name]
[name]Keir[/name]
Kinnett
Kennesaw
Kincaid
[name]Kingston[/name]
[name]Lincoln[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Maddox[/name]
[name]Merrick[/name]
Oakland (slightly different from [name]Oakley[/name], without the sunglasses vibe)
[name]Roarke[/name]
[name]Wilkes[/name]
I would go with [name]Archer[/name] or [name]Westley[/name]. I don’t like [name]Dakota[/name] or Halam with your kid’s names. [name]Oakley[/name] is okay, but I think [name]Archer[/name] or [name]Westley[/name] fit best. I think [name]Callum[/name] would fit nicely with your children’s names as well.
I like [name]Westley[/name]. I think I would skip [name]Dakota[/name] and [name]Oakley[/name] (I think the brand name association is a road you probably don;t want to go down)
